PROGRAM REFUND POLICIES
UW Recreation will provide a refund to the customer within 90 days of purchase (exception: annual Rec memberships).
The customer will need to provide the same payment card used for purchase. Refund to a different payment card is not allowed.
Program Passes (Rec Class Pass and Intramural Pass)
- During the first week (Mon-Sun) of programming, you can receive a full refund. After the first week of
programming has ended there are no refunds unless you qualify for an exception. - Exception requests can be made by email to recinfo@uw.edu. The following are viable reasons for an
exception: Termination of employment, withdrawal from academic classes, and medical request (no
refund will be issued if removed due to disciplinary or eligibility reasons). A refund exception will be
issued and prorated in accordance with the refund schedule, based on the date of written request. - Refunds are only processed in-person during business hours or by phone (206.543.4590). If you paid
by credit card or Husky card, you will need to bring your card so that we can credit your account. If you
paid by check, we will need to verify your address so a check can be mailed to you within
approximately four weeks. - Refund Schedule with approval
● 1st week, prorated by 15%
● 2nd week, prorated by 25%
● 3rd week, prorated by 35%
● 4th week, prorated by 50%
● 5+ weeks, no refund
Specialty Programming (Climbing, Field Trips, Golf Classes, First Aid/CPR/AED, Lifeguard,Yoga Teacher Training, Fitness Instructor Training, Sports Skills, Aquatics, etc.)
On-Campus Only Activities & Classes:
- Drops must be completed at least 48 hours prior to the start time (minus the non-refundable deposit, if
applicable). Failure to do so will result in a 100% loss of the registration fee. - Failure to attend an activity results in a 100% loss of the registration fee (no refund will be issued if
removed due to disciplinary or eligibility reasons).
Off-Campus Activities, Classes, & Trips:
- Drops made 8-14 days prior to the activity results in a 50% loss of the registration fee.
- Drops made 7 or fewer days prior to the activity results in a 100% loss of the registration fee.
- Failure to attend an activity results in a 100% loss of registration fee.
General Info:
- Courses meeting for multiple sessions, no refunds are issued after the first session.
- For classes that meet indoors prior to an outing, attendance at all indoor classes is mandatory.
- For any course that meets for multiple sessions, attendance to the first session is mandatory.
- Partial refunds will be given if the outdoor portion of a class is canceled due to weather.
- Refunds are only processed in-person during business hours or by phone (206.543.4590). If you paid
by credit card or Husky card, you will need to bring your card so that we can credit your account. If you
paid by check, we will need to verify your address so a check can be mailed to you within
approximately four weeks.
*All classes can be refunded at the IMA during business hours. In addition, UWild classes can be refunded at
the Climbing Center, WAC, and The Gear Garage @ the WAC during their hours of operation.
Private Instruction (Personal Training, Peer Nutrition, Massage, Swimming, Yoga)
- All packages are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Packages expire 6 months from date of purchase.
- Clients will use a session if they are more than 15 minutes late for appointments over 30 minutes, and
5 minutes late for appointments 30 minutes or less. - Clients will use a session for appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.

REC Membership Refund Policy
- Refunds require the approval of the Assistant Direcfor for Operations. The following are viable reasons for
permitting refunds: Termination of employment or withdrawal from academic classes, change in
employment status (i.e. shift change, home department, or job duties), and medical request (i.e.
unable to use service, may include family medical leave). - All refunds must be requested and processed in-person at the Member Services Desk. If you paid by
credit card or Husky card, you will need to bring your card so that we can credit your account. If you
paid by check, we will need to verify your address so a check can be mailed to you within
approximately four weeks. - All refunds will be issued and prorated in accordance with the refund schedule, available at the
Member Services Desk.
Climbing Membership
- Climbing Membership refunds require the approval of the Climbing Manager. You may request a
refund by email at recclimb@uw.edu. The following are viable reasons for permitting refunds: Proof of
injury. - If you paid by credit card or Husky card, you will need to provide your card so that we can credit your
account. If you paid by check, we will need to verify your address so a check can be mailed to you
within approximately four weeks.
