Very interesting. I followed the link and was surprised to see the backstage view of Diff myself, including the upgrade button. This looks more like a security breach, as I don't belief to be authorized to enter this area, which should be restricted to devops.

No objections to moving to 80%, see https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:De_kroeg#Centrale_bureaucratie

I will check this weekend if it is okay to go from 50 to 100%.

The post on the Dutch Village Pump - with announcement of deployment per Septermber 1, has been archived https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:De_kroeg/Archief/20210730. Two positive comments, no objections.

I had this behavior in new wikitext editor this week. Turning off new wikitext editor helped, and switching to source mode editing helped.
To show I read your report, in fifth bullet it reads "reflect sedits" in stead of "reflects edits". Nice results!

I read the A/B test has officially started. The task T273406 hasn't been updated yet. Is it okay if I inform Dutch Wikipedia?
Feb 3 2021
I had noted, and already updated the notices on nl.wp.

In the task description: "Templates for interwiki links (interlanguage links); this would make the interlang bot activity almost unnecessary." Hasn't that not already been resolved with wikidata as repository for interlanguage links? @Wiki.Melancholie are you ok with updating the task description?

I like the idea to have the interlanguage links top right, on the same line as the title, with a drop down menu.
For new users when they would see interlanguage link on a talk page they might expect to see a translation of the talk page. Only user testing will tell. So probably linking to the article is less confusing.

I can open multiple widgets. When I save one of them widgets with text already entered remain open, and the text is retained. Widgets with no text in them are closed. I didn't expect the latter.

Yes, just like Space content was moved to Diff.
Jul 15 2020
The content can be transgerred as well of course
Or the other way around, redirect techblog to the tech category on diff.

?dtvisual=1 is outdated, so the image needs an update
Jul 13 2020
Updates like [i] are spot on. Make sure the documentation don't appear outdated to someone new to the reply-tool. And preferably before conversations about deployments. My assumption is people will more likely look at the documentation than look at the tool to inform themselves whether deployment is a good idea, or not. I think a handful tweaks to the page will suffice.

Is this really about deploying version 1.0? Aren't you going to deploy version 2.0?
The page https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Talk_pages_project/Beta_Features might need update for this to work. Translations to Dutch: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Overleghulpmiddelen. Upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0.

There has been some significant discussion before about the potential for abuse. You should consider how that would be dealt with if you want this to be a successful request.

I do like the new user profile page too. It is piloted at a couple of wikis (Czech and Korean). See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Growth/Personalized_first_day/Newcomer_homepage and T213990

It is not visible on nl.wp (Dutch Wikipedia)

Replying to a nested numbered list, see https://nl.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Overleg_Wikipedia:Universele_gedragscode&type=revision&diff=56535077&oldid=56534101&diffmode=source . That is a list with two levels. With my edit I added a numbered point on the second level, that is now point 2 within outer level point 2. Now when you hit reply to that point, the text box appears right beneath it and indented with a bullet. However when you hit reply to the point above, point 1 within outer level point 2 it is going to be point 6 on the outer level. This is because points 1 and 2 of the outer level haven't been signed, I assume. However, it feels really weird.

It doesn't automatically accept; it requires confirmation by email. However, the confirmation gets bounced with "550 Administrative prohibition". So you need to get incoming mail working.

A conversation has started on Dutch Wikipedia https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overleg_Wikipedia:Discussietools#V_en_C_of_B_en_I? Current status is to maintain the status quo.

What if and when someone enters a multiline template in source mode? (And what if they then switch to visual mode)
Jun 1 2020
Go ahead. Isn't Vega already in version 3? I belief current priority is providing (template) support for interactive worldmaps on the corona pandemic page.

Rather than buttons like B, or I, I would like to have a button to insert an image in the replytool visual mode toolbar. Inserting an image is much more common than inserting a table in a reply. for example to give someone a barnstar, that is a picture of such a thing.

@Esanders thanks, I checked, it works again

@Aklapper, please review.
@Alsee. Thanks for testing. It looks like the reply tool without the visual mode as in pilot on nl.wp and 3 other wikis currently does not support tables, and probably does not support a lot of other wikitext either, except bold, italic, and underline, wiki links and template. No wonder the unsupported markup doesn't do well in a roundtrip around the visual mode.
The source mode of editing a talk page still exist. Senior editors like you can easily switcht to the source mode of a talk page without using the reply tool.
The developers are developing a new tool, which is availabe in a test wiki. Reply 1.0 is in pilot mode on 4 wikis. Just as a way of finding out what works, and what not.
Your wikitext:
normal '''bold ''bold-italics''' italics'' normal
is not correct wiki markup.
Yup, see https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gebruiker:Ad_Huikeshoven/Kladblok/2?veaction=editsource. I could replicate it on a normal VE enabled page without the reply link.
I have tested https://nl.wikipedia.beta.wmflabs.org/w/index.php?title=Overleg%3AHoofdpagina&type=revision&diff=436&oldid=435 which shows
normal '''bold ''bold-italics''''' ''italics'' normal roundtrips correctly between visual and source.
That is I replaced "<nowiki/>" in "normal '''bold ''bold-italics'''''<nowiki/>'' italics'' normal" with a space: " ".
I think this is general VE or parsoid behavior, and has nothing to do with the reply tool.

One user who has enabled the reply-tool beta feature comments about invisibility of the 'reply button' in the village pump: https://nl.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:De_kroeg&diff=prev&oldid=56123992&diffmode=source.
Apr 22 2020
Sounds good. I translated https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Talk_pages_project/Beta_Features and published on https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Overleghulpmiddelen.
Which creates a question for you, @AdHuikeshoven: Can you think of reasons why it might not be a good idea to enable the Replying tool in namespaces where the signature button is available?
@ppelberg not yet. I'll post the question on nl.wp

The reply tool is active now on the Dutch Wikipedia in the Village Pump, see: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overleg_Wikipedia:Discussietools.
However is not yet active in AfD, see: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Te_beoordelen_pagina%27s

As I wrote on T249063 I would like the link from recent changes of the Dutch Wikipedia to a page on the Dutch Wikipedia. On that page I would like to have a section "Why are we as the Dutch community doing this" in stead of "Why is the Foundation working on these features". By all means I want to avoid any possible impression the Foundation is imposing something on the Dutch Wikipedia community. I want to have the impression that the Dutch Wikipedia community is fully in control over this development process. Yes, there can be a section Who are developing these tools"? In that section it can be explained that the technical side is done by paid staff hired by the Wikipedia Foundation which is funded by donations from readers/viewers.

For the Dutch Wikipedia ideally you would link from recent changes to a page in Dutch on the Dutch Wikipedia in the Wikipedia: namespace. Some people really don't like when they are diverted to another project in another language with a community they don't know. That page could have a section on international collaboration with links to other projects and to mw.org.
Apr 17 2020
Do I understand it correctly the idea of this task for the Dutch Wikipedia is an edit on the page https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Tag-discussiontools-reply? Or should that happen on translatewiki?
Mar 31 2020
The reply tool is active on talk pages on the Dutch Wikipedia as beta feature. @WhatamIdoing wrote the feature to be active at the village pump as well https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:De_kroeg#New_Beta_Feature. It isn't. In the short pretest a couple of weeks ago it was, by extending the url. The village pump isn't in a talk name space, however.
