Rather, within the scope of protection, the device according to the invention can also assume other configurations than those described above. In this case, the device can in particular have features which represent a combination of the respective individual features of the claims.

Fahrzeug mit einer Designbeleuchtung Vehicle with design lighting
TECHNISCHES GEBIET TECHNICAL AREA
The invention relates to a vehicle with design lighting according to the preamble of patent claim 1. In particular, the invention relates to such a motor vehicle.
HINTERGRUND DER ERFINDUNG BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In the interior of many vehicles there is what is known as ambient lighting. This is design lighting that has at least one design element that can be illuminated, with which, for example, contour lines or other stylistic elements of the interior design shine in a color that can usually be selected by the vehicle user. The provision of such elements for design lighting is not limited to the interior of the vehicle, but also possible on the outside of the vehicle, provided there are no legal regulations to the contrary. This design lighting is generated by illuminants that emit light continuously both at night and during the day. From an energy point of view, this is not advantageous during the day, since electrical energy is also used for the ambient lighting during daylight, which results in relatively high energy consumption. The present invention is now intended to remedy or at least improve this problem.
STAND DER TECHNIK STATE OF THE ART
An individualizable interior lighting of a vehicle is known from EP 2 855 206 B1, which is dimmable and which can be switched on and off depending on environmental influences or the time of day. The illuminants used for this have LEDs, RGB LEDs or OLEDs. The light sources can be adjusted in terms of their light color, brightness, intensity or the like, with each light source or at least one group of light sources being individually controllable. LEDs arranged next to each other can therefore have differences in their brightness and colour.
DARSTELLUNG DER ERFINDUNG DE 10 2011 016 396 A1 discloses a molded decorative part for the interior of a vehicle and an interior trim with such a molded decorative part. The decorative molding includes an illumination device, for example an LED or an OLED, which is designed to illuminate the interior of the vehicle via at least one decoupling area. The lighting device comprises at least one light source for generating light and at least one light guide which is designed to be rigid and into which the light can be coupled. The light is decoupled over a large area in the decoupling area. The light guide can be coated on one or more of its side surfaces in order to achieve effects when the light is emitted in the outcoupling area. The coating can be a color coating and/or an effect coating with which a light color can be determined and/or the light can be colored depending on its angle of incidence. PRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION
The object of the present invention is to specify a vehicle with design lighting that has improved energy efficiency.
This problem is solved with the features of patent claim 1 .
A vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, is provided with design lighting that has at least one design element that can be illuminated. According to the invention, it is provided that the at least one illuminable design element has an e-paper display device that can be switched between a black coloring and a white or colored coloring by applying an electrical voltage, and that the e-paper display device of the at least one illuminable design element can be illuminated by means of at least one artificial light source.
VORTEILE BENEFITS
The invention proposes providing at least one illuminable design element with an e-paper display device, which can only be illuminated when required, instead of the actively illuminating ambient lighting that has been customary up to now. Using this e-paper display device, the desired design effect, for example the white or colored emphasis of an edge or line in the vehicle interior or in the area of the vehicle outer skin, can be achieved in daylight without artificial lighting. When it is dark, the artificial light source can then be switched on to illuminate the e-paper display device. During the day, the same design effect is achieved without artificial lighting and without the associated energy consumption. Further preferred and advantageous design features of the vehicle according to the invention are the subject matter of dependent claims 2 to 6.
Preferably, the at least one illuminable design element has a light guide device, which distributes the light emanating from the at least one light source along the e-paper display device.
It is also advantageous if the e-paper display device of the at least one illuminable design element is backlit.
A lighting control device is preferably provided, which is designed to variably set the color displayed by the e-paper display device.
Alternatively or additionally, the lighting control device can also be designed to set the wavelength of the light emanating from the at least one light source and thus its color in a variable manner.
These two variants enable the vehicle user to choose an individual design color, or the vehicle manufacturer to specify the design color of the illuminable design element adapted to the interior color of the vehicle.
An embodiment of the invention that can be combined with other embodiments of the invention is particularly advantageous, in which the lighting control unit is designed to automatically switch on the at least one light source when the ambient brightness falls below a specified brightness value and to switch it off automatically when the ambient brightness exceeds a specified brightness value . This is when dusk falls or when entering a tunnel or in a dark garage, the artificial lighting is switched on automatically and then switched off again when the surroundings become brighter again. This switching on and off can be abrupt or gradual by means of a dimmer.
The design lighting preferably forms ambient lighting in a vehicle interior.

Fig. 1 shows the front part of a vehicle interior 10 of a motor vehicle 1 with a view of the driver's seat 11 with a steering wheel 12 arranged in front of it and the driver-side part of a dashboard 13, and with a view of the left front vehicle door 14 with a door inner panel 15 and on a center console 16, which extends on a center tunnel 17 from the dashboard 13 against the forward driving direction F to the rear.
The vehicle interior 10 is equipped with design lighting 2, which forms what is known as ambient lighting. For this purpose, the door inner lining 15 is provided with strip-like design elements 20, 21, 22 that can be illuminated. The dashboard 13 also has strip-like design elements 23 that can be illuminated. Strip-like design elements 24 , 25 that can be illuminated are also provided on the center console 16 . Additional strip-like design elements 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 that can be illuminated are provided on the side of the central tunnel 17 .
The structure and functioning of each of the strip-like, illuminable design elements is described with reference to FIG. 2 using the example of the strip-like, illuminable design element 100 shown schematically there.
The strip-like illuminable design element 100 has a carrier body 110 in which an e-paper display device 120 is accommodated. The e-paper display device 120 is provided with a transparent or translucent display window 122, behind which a multiplicity of display elements 124 designed as microcapsules are located.
As can be seen in FIG. 3, the display window 122 simultaneously forms a first flat (upper) electrode 121. A second flat (lower) electrode 123 is provided on the back of the e-paper display device 120 behind the display elements 124. Each of the display elements 124 has a transparent housing wall 125 which encloses an interior space 126 of the display element 124 . The inner space 126 contains a plurality of first pigments 127 of a first color (white here) and a plurality of second pigments 128 of a second color (here black) surrounded by a transparent fluid 129, the black pigments 128 usually being positively charged and the white pigments 127 being negatively charged. When a positive or negative electric field is activated by applying a voltage to the electrodes 121, 123, the black pigments 128 and the white pigments 127 move to the opposite electrodes 121, 123, respectively. The amount of pigment particles that migrates to the upper (transparent) electrode 121 , is visible to the viewer as a black or white point in the display window 122. Further developments of this shown e-paper display device 120 with a plurality of different display elements that contain colored pigments instead of the white pigments 127 have the ability to display colors.
The carrier body 110 (FIG. 2) is also provided with at least one artificial light source 3, shown only schematically in FIG. The light L emitted by the light source 3 is distributed by the light guide device 30 over the surface of the display window 122 and illuminates there the majority of the display elements 124 formed by the microcapsules, whose upper pigments 127 then reflect the light through the display window 122 to the outside. The e-paper display device 120 then lights up in the color of the upper pigments 127 (in white in the example shown).
The electrodes 121 , 123 are electrically conductively connected to a lighting control device 4 which is supplied with electrical energy from a power source Q . The lighting control device 4 supplies the electrodes 121, 123 with an electrical switching signal with the appropriate polarity in order to switch the display elements 124 from black to white, for example. If the e-paper display device 120 is able to display different colors, the lighting control device 4 is able to To control display elements 124 so that the e-paper display device 120 displays a color desired by the user.
In addition, the lighting control device 4 can also be designed to set the wavelength of the light emanating from the light source 3 and thus its color in a variable manner.
The lighting control device 4 is connected to a brightness sensor 40 which determines the ambient brightness. Based on this determined brightness value of the ambient brightness, the lighting control unit automatically switches the light source 3 on when the ambient brightness falls below a first predetermined brightness value and automatically switches it off when the ambient brightness exceeds a second predetermined brightness value.
During the day, daylight impinging on the top pigments 127 and entering through the transparent display window 122 without artificial lighting achieves the same effect, but without consuming energy.
The invention proposed here reduces the energy consumption of the design lighting 2 to zero during the day, since artificial lighting is only required in the dark and not continuously as in the prior art. The reduced energy consumption is also based on the advantage of the e-paper display device 120 that energy is only required for the color change. After that, the new state remains stable without current. The energy required for the color change can be provided by the vehicle's on-board network or by an integrated solar panel when used on the vehicle's outer skin.
