Abstract

The present invention relates to efficient Direct Current fans or in short ( SEDC Fans), that run on 12/24 volts DC power source. These fans take power in the form of pulses at regular intervals there by increasing the overall efficiency of the fan. And the power consumption can be brought down to below 20 watts. These are water proof fans. These fans can run directly by connecting to a battery or solar panel. No invertor board is required. Also while the fan is not consuming the power during its rotation it also generates EMF and electrical power. So in half cycle the fan motor is a generator and in other half cycle it works as a motor. Improvements can be further made to encash this regenerative power and recharge the batteries or capacitors to make it function as a zero watt motor.

Description:
The present invention super efficient Direct current (SEDC) Luxury ceiling fan in figure (30 A) is of 15 kgs and the magnetic disk diameter is 300mm. It has no laminations / stampings either in rotor or stator and uses very little copper turnings in the elelctromagnets . DC power supply of 12 v/ 18v / 24 volts is supplied to the electromagnets at regular intervals ( 10 degrees ) through a solid state relay via a proximity sensor . the efficiency is 3 to 4 times more than the present conventional fans.
In one experiment the fan was running without blades at 450 rpm consuming only 35 watts.
In other experiment 12 standard blades of length 57cms were fitted on to the magnetic disk and the fan was found to rotate at 90 rpm consuming only 42 watts.
Further improvements and research can be done to increase the speed and decrease the power consumption.
These fans are water proof fans . They can be installed in the open parks also. DC power source can be through an adapter from 220/110 volts AC supply, or directly from a solar panel without inverter board. Or from a battery source.

Claims

We claim.:
1.The magnetic disk which houses the magnets can be made up of any non ferrous or electrical insulating material. The magnets in the disk can be of any size , shape and length.the sensor which senses the fluorescent paper strip and activates the solid state relay to supply the flow of DC power to the electromagnets can be of any electromagnetic wave driven sensor and of any frequency.
2. The no of magnet sets on the disk can be of multiple rows arranged in concentric path and proportionally the electromagnets also can be arranged as per the torque and speed requirements. The dotted lines in the diagram (10 A ) represensts that any no of magnetsets and electromagnets can be incorporated radially. The thickness and the diameter of the magnetic disk can be varied as per ones convenience . The electromagnets can be placed on one side of magnetic disk (10 C) or on both sides of the magnetic disks as shown.
3. The magnet sets can also be arranged radially in the magnetic disk and the electromagnets can be fitted to the shaft as shown in figure (20 A ). The Magnet sets and electromagnets proportionally can be arranged in multiple sections as shown in diagram (20 B) and (20 C) . To improve the speed and torqe we can use multiple electromagnets more than the magnetsets as shown in figure (20 D).
