Description

FLUID INJECTING & COLLECTING SYSTEM WITH RETRACTABLE NEEDLE OPERABLE BY VACUUM
TECHNICAL FIELD
[001] The embodiments of the disclosure relate to a Fluid injecting and collecting system consisting of a frequently reusable Injector, disposable as well as non-reusable Fluid-cartridge and Fluid-collector.
BACKGROUND
[002] Injecting systems and collecting systems have a wide range of application. A bulk of them is consumed in healthcare not only as drug delivering system but also to withdraw or collect bodily Fluids for various medical purposes.
[003] Due to sterility maintenance concerns, the injection system and the containment systems (usually vials, ampules, etc.) are used with a single patient and need to be disposed of upon completion of an injection or collection process, thus creating significant medical waste, wastage of precious drug, risk of anti-microbial resistant due to the leftout drug. Also, the needle injection configuration carries a threat of transmitting blood borne diseases like AIDS, and Hepatitis B & C, via needle stick injuries.
[004] Recent advancements have included the development and refinement of conventional systems of injecting Fluid, mostly hypodermic syringes, by incorporating various retraction mechanisms to prevent the needle stick injuries. However, they have additional shortcomings such as high manufacturing cost, no reusability, complex mechanism, chances of secondary cross-infection due to fast retraction mechanism etc. and are beyond the reach of masses. [005] Thus, there remains a need to develop a reusable fluid injector and a safely disposable fluid-cartridge.
OBJECT OF THE DISCLOSURE
[006] An object of the present disclosure is to provide a Fluid injecting system, wherein the empty or pre-filled disposable Fluid-cartridge is attachable with a frequently reusable Injector to constitute a safety syringe with Vacuum-retractable needle and operable like a conventional syringe.
[007] Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a Fluid injecting system, wherein the pre-filled disposable Capillary Fluid-cartridge is attachable with a frequently reusable Injector to constitute a safety syringe with Vacuum-retractable needle and operable like a conventional syringe.
[008] An object of the present disclosure is to provide a Fluid collecting system, wherein the empty disposable Fluid-collector is attachable with a frequently reusable Injector to constitute a safety Fluid collecting system operable like a conventional syringe.
[009] An object of the present disclosure is to provide a Fluid injecting system with Vacuum operable retractable needle mechanism consisting of Injector and Fluid-cartridge to safely inject the Fluid at the injectable site without any risk of needle stick injury.
[0010] Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a Fluid collecting system with Vacuum operable retractable needle mechanism consisting of Injector and Fluid-collector to safely collect and store the Fluid from the Fluid source without any risk of needle stick injury. [0011] Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a frequently reusable Injector and safely disposable as well as non-reusable Fluid-cartridge, wherein the used needle auto-retracts and encapsulates within the barrel of the Fluid-cartridge. [0012] Another object of the present disclosure is to provide an empty Fluid-cartridge and a fixed volume pre-filled Fluid-cartridge for replacing the barrel of the conventional syringe with provisions to attach with the injector, which further replaces the conventional packaging containers (i.e. vials, ampules, etc.), having retractable Needle- assembly containing either inbuilt or replaceable hypodermic needle or has provision to attach the hypodermic needle of desired dimensions.
[0013] Another object of the present disclosure is to provide the Injector (or Capillary Injector) having means to firmly attach with the Fluid-cartridge to constitute a Vacuum operable retractable Fluid injection system.
(i) While attaching the empty Fluid-cartridge with injector to constitute a Vacuum operable retractable Fluid injection system, the desired volume of Fluid can be aspirated conveniently from the Fluid container into the Fluid-cartridge and may be completely injected into the patient, in a conventional manner.
(ii) In case, pre-filled Fluid-cartridge is attached with injector in place of empty drug- cartridge, the resultant assembly automatically constitutes a Vacuum operable retractable Fluid injection system, ready to inject the Fluid into patient until last drop in conventional manner.
[0014] After the completion of injection procedure, the hypodermic needle automatically retracts into the empty drug-cartridge without the intervention of user, and thereafter the empty drug-cartridge with encapsulated used needle automatically detaches itself from the piston assembly of injector to render the injector ready for next injection procedure.
[0015] Another object of the present disclosure is to provide the Fluid injecting system having the Fluid collector with a needle retraction mechanism which is removably connected with the injector and is configured to collect the Fluid from the target.
[0016] Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a Fluid injecting system for micro dosage of Fluid with volume of 0.5ml or lesser, consisting of Capillary Injector and Capillary Fluid-cartridge with Vacuum operable retractable needle mechanism to safely inject the Fluid at the injectable site without any risk of needle stick injury.

A Needle cover is used to guard the Hypodermic -needle. A Retention- sleeve is provided at a distal end of the Needle cover to engage with the Cap Retention-fixture of the Fluid-cartridge barrel. In one implementation, pre-filled Fluid may be stored in a space present between the Piston-head and the Needle-assembly of the pre-filled Fluid-cartridge. Further, Graduation marks are provided on a surface of a Fluid-cartridge barrel of empty Fluid-cartridge, between the Piston-head and the Needle assembly, for allowing reading of volume of a Fluid aspirated into a space present between the Piston-head and the Needle assembly.
[0027] In one embodiment, a capillary Fluid-cartridge, according to the present disclosure, comprises a hollow capillary Fluid-cartridge barrel having a Conical-mouth at a proximal end, an Axial-capillary present along a central longitudinal axis of the Fluid-cartridge barrel, a bead-shaped Piston-head provided at a distal end of the Axial-capillary, and a Needle- assembly comprising a Hypodermic Needle at a proximal end of the Axial-capillary. A distal end of the Hypodermic Needle is fixed in a Needle-hub and opens distally of the Needle-hub. The Needle-hub slides within the Axial-capillary upon movement of the bead-shaped Piston- head.
[0028] An opening at a proximal end of the Axial-capillary is provided with a Needle hub-restrictor Flange comprising an aperture, to restrict axial movement of the Needle- assembly. [0029] In one embodiment, a Fluid collector, according to the present disclosure, comprises a Fluid collecting Barrel having a Needle-retention Nozzle at a proximal end of the Fluid collecting Barrel. A proximal end of an axial Capillary centrally opens outside the Needle-retention Nozzle and a distal end opens in the Fluid collecting Barrel. The Fluid collector further comprises a Needle-hub removably affixed on the Needle -retention Nozzle and containing a Hypodermic Needle. The Fluid collector further comprises a Piston-head plugging a distal end of the Fluid collecting Barrel and configured to slide within the Fluid collecting Barrel upon application of force by an injector.
[0030] Conical Lock-2 present at a distal end of a Needle cover allows locking of the

An inner diameter of the Conical Lock-1 is equal to an outer diameter of the Needle Retention Nozzle. A radial Breakaway Seal is used to fasten the Fluid collecting Barrel with the Needle cover. The Breakaway Seal is provided with a Tab for allowing breaking and removal of the Breakaway seal. Removal of the Breakaway seal separates the Needle cover from the Fluid collecting barrel to expose the Hypodermic Needle before a Fluid collection process.
[0031] Retention-beads are provided on the distal end of the Fluid collecting Barrel for firmly engaging with L-shaped grooves of an Injector. Graduation-marks are provided on a surface of the Fluid collecting Barrel for allowing measuring volume of a Fluid filled into the Fluid collecting Barrel. The Piston-head comprises a cylindrical disc provided with O-ring Seals on outer rim of the Piston-head.
[0032] In one embodiment, a retractable injection system, according to the present disclosure, comprises an Injector barrel. A body of the Injector barrel is partitioned into two chambers by an Integrated gland present at a proximal end of the Injector barrel. A Plunger shaft is configured to move at a central axis of the Injector barrel. A Thumb-rest is provided at a distal end of the Plunger shaft. The Thumb-rest is secured at the distal end of the Plunger shaft. A Collar provided at a proximal end of the Plunger shaft restricts backward motion of the Plunger shaft beyond the Integrated gland of the Injector barrel. A Ring-seal is positioned towards the proximal end of the Injector barrel, to create a seal with a Fluid-cartridge. [0033] The retractable injection system further comprises a Fluid-cartridge. The Fluid- cartridge comprises a Fluid-cartridge barrel including a hollow cylindrical body having openings at both ends and a conical mouth present at a proximal end of the Fluid-cartridge barrel, wherein the conical mouth constitutes a Cap Retention Fixture present at an outer surface of the Fluid-cartridge barrel. The Fluid-cartridge barrel also includes radially arranged Retention Beads provided at a distal end of the outer surface of the Fluid-cartridge barrel to firmly attach with L-shaped grooves provided internally at a proximal end of the Injector. [0034] The Fluid-cartridge further comprises a Piston-head having a cylindrical disc shape. The Piston-head is centrally provided with a Needle catch projection at proximal end. The Fluid-cartridge further comprises a Needle-assembly including a Hypodermic Needle affixed at a proximal end of the Fluid-cartridge barrel. The Needle-assembly comprises a Needle-hub with a Needle Catch Cavity at a distal end of the Fluid-cartridge barrel, to receive and engage with a Needle Catch Projection present on a proximal surface of the Piston-head. Upon attachment of the Fluid-cartridge with the Injector, an air tight seal is created at a junction between the injector and the Fluid-cartridge, and an end-tip of a Plunger shaft of the injector comes in close contact of a distal surface of a Piston-head of the Fluid-cartridge.
[0035] In one embodiment, filling of Fluid into the Fluid-cartridge barrel requires: a) attaching L-shaped grooves provided internally at a proximal end of the Injector with radially arranged Retention Beads provided at a distal end of the outer surface of the Fluid- cartridge barrel; b) exposing the Hypodermic needle by removing a Needle guard and placing the Hypodermic needle embedded in the Fluid; b) exerting pressure on the Thumb-rest configured to move the Plunger shaft in a forward direction, wherein upon movement in the forward direction, the Plunger shaft pushes the Piston-head in the forward direction along- side the Injector barrel, and wherein a Vacuum develops between the Ring seal of the injector and the Piston-head of the Fluid-cartridge; and c) gradually releasing the pressure applied on the Thumb-rest, wherein gradually releasing the pressure causes movement of the Piston-head along with Plunger shaft in a backward direction due to release of the Vacuum, and wherein the Fluid is aspirated into the Fluid-cartridge with movement of the Piston-head along with Plunger shaft in the backward direction.
[0036] A volume of the Fluid aspirated into the Fluid-cartridge is identified through graduation marks provided on a surface of the Fluid-cartridge. The Fluid aspirated into the Fluid-cartridge is injected into the injection site by applying force on the Thumb-rest. Upon injecting entire quantity of the Fluid into injection site during injection procedure, the Needle- catch-projection gets inserted into the Needle-catch cavity and attaches the Needle -hub along with Hypodermic-needle, and the Displacer O-ring slides in forward direction to set the Collar of Needle -hub free. Thereupon, the Needle -hub containing the Hypodermic -needle freely moves in the backward direction due to release of the Vacuum on gradually releasing the force applied on the Thumb rest.
[0037] Upon backward movement, the Needle -hub along with the used Hypodermic- needle retracts into the empty Fluid-cartridge and safely encapsulates therein for separation from the Injector and safe disposal; and the Plunger shaft attains initial state to bring the Injector ready for a next injection procedure. When the Needle-catch-projection begins entering into the Needle-catch cavity, the Fluid trapped between the Piston-head and the Needle-hub passes through a Needle-cavity groove provided alongside the inner surface of the Needle Catch Cavity.
[0038] The retractable injection system further comprises a Plunger shaft retainer positioned behind the Integrated gland. The Plunger shaft retainer comprises a crescent shaped Static brake-fixture present in a first semi-cylindrical portion of the Injector barrel, a Dynamic brake-fixture present in a second semi-cylindrical portion of the Injector barrel, and a Compressible sheet sandwiched between the Static brake-fixture and the Dynamic brake- fixture. A Central passage is present within the Plunger shaft retainer for allowing movement of the Plunger shaft, and the Dynamic brake-fixture has an inclined surface to house a Slide- switch used for controlling movement of the Plunger shaft.
[0039] Movement of the injector Shaft is retained in either direction during injection procedure by gently pushing the Slide-switch in a forward direction, and released by pulling the Slide-switch in a backward direction. Gently pushing the Slide-switch retains movement of the injector Shaft by pressing the Dynamic break-fixture inwardly to press the Compressible sheet against the Static brake fixture. Pressing of the Compressible sheet against the Static brake-fixture arrests and restricts movement of the Shaft in either direction.
[0040] In one embodiment, the retractable injection system further includes a Gland
Plug provided at a distal end of the Injector barrel. The Plunger shaft extends to a Piston present around a central point along a length of the Plunger shaft, thereby forming an air tight seal at the distal end of the Injector barrel between the Piston and the Gland Plug. The Plunger shaft is axially provided with a Capillary, a distal end of the Capillary opens outside the Injector barrel when the retractable injection system is present in an un-pressed condition, and a proximal end of the Capillary has a conical Suction-cup, and the Suction-cup comes in close contact of the distal surface of Piston-head when the injector and the Fluid-cartridge are connected.
[0041] In one embodiment, filling of Fluid into the Fluid-cartridge barrel requires: a) attaching L-shaped grooves provided internally at a proximal end of the Injector with radially arranged Retention Beads provided at a distal end of the outer surface of the Fluid- cartridge barrel; b) exposing the Hypodermic needle by removing a Needle guard and placing the Hypodermic needle embedded in the Fluid; c) exerting pressure on a Thumb-rest configured to move the Plunger shaft along with the piston in a forward direction, wherein upon movement in the forward direction: the Plunger shaft pushes the Piston provided with Plunger-shaft in the forward direction, and a first Vacuum develops between the Piston and the Gland-plug; and the suction cup pushes the Piston-head of Fluid-cartridge in the forward direction to create a second Vacuum between the Ring- seal and the Piston-head, wherein when the distal opening of the capillary comes in contact of the first Vacuum, air is drawn in from the suction cup through the capillary, causing the Suction cup to firmly attach at the distal surface of the Piston-head, d) gradually releasing the pressure applied on the Thumb-rest to cause backward movement of Piston along with the Piston-head due to release of the first Vacuum and the second Vacuum, wherein upon backward movement of the Piston and the Piston-head, required volume of Fluid gets filled into the Fluid-cartridge and the volume of Fluid is readable through graduation marks on surface of barrel of the Fluid-cartridge.
[0042] In one embodiment, releasing of Fluid present in the Fluid-cartridge barrel during an injection procedure requires: a) inserting the Hypodermic needle into an injection site; b) exerting pressure on a Thumb-rest configured to move the Plunger shaft along with the piston in a forward direction to release the Fluid through the Hypodermic needle, wherein upon movement in the forward direction: the Plunger shaft pushes the Piston provided with Plunger-shaft in the forward direction, and a first Vacuum develops between the Piston and the Gland-plug; and the suction cup pushes the Piston-head of the Fluid-cartridge in the forward direction to create a second Vacuum between the Ring-seal and the Piston-head; wherein when the distal opening of the capillary comes in contact of the first Vacuum, air from the suction cup is drawn through the capillary, causing Vacuum in the Suction cup to firmly attach the Suction cup at the distal surface of the Piston- head; wherein gradual increase of pressure on the Piston-head through the Thumb- rest pushes the Fluid of Fluid-cartridge in forward direction to inject the Fluid into the injection site through the Hypodermic needle; and wherein when the Piston-head comes in contact of a Displacer O-ring, and the Piston-head pushes the Displacer O-ring in the forward direction; the Displacer O-ring begins disengaging from the Needle -hub; the Needle-catch-projection gets inserted into the Needle-catch cavity to firmly attach the Needle-hub along with Hypodermic-needle; and the Needle-hub containing Hypodermic-needle gets completely disengaged from the Displacer-O-ring due to its sliding in the forward direction and becomes free to move in a backward direction due to a gap created between an inner surface of Displacer-O-ring and an outer surface of Needle-rim-Collar, wherein upon gradual release of the pressure applied on the Thumb-rest, the first Vacuum and the second Vacuum begin releasing to retract the Hypodermic needle attached with Piston-head, whereby the Piston-head containing the Hypodermic needle gradually retracts along with the Plunger shaft in the backward direction, and the used Hypodermic needle retracts and encapsulates inside the empty Fluid-cartridge, which is detached from the Injector for disposal, and wherein the Plunger-shaft attains initial position, the distal end of Capillary exposes to air behind the Gland-plug, which rushes into Suction cup to release the Vacuum in the Suction cup, resulting into detachment of the suction cup from the distal surface of Piston-head, and to bring the Plunger shaft in initial state to make the Injector ready for next injection procedure.
[0043] In one embodiment, a retractable injection system, according to the present disclosure, comprises: an injector including: an Injector barrel, wherein a body of the Injector barrel is partitioned into two chambers by an Integrated gland present at a proximal end of the Injector barrel; a Plunger shaft configured to move at a central axis of the Injector barrel; a Gland Plug provided at a distal end of the Injector barrel; a Gland-magnet-I and a Gasket- seal provided at an outer rim of the Gland-plug; an O-ring Seal-II provided at an inner rim of the Gland Plug; a Support flange provided at the distal end of the Gland plug to support airtight fixing and removing the Gland plug at the distal end of the Injector barrel; a Piston embedded with a Piston magnet- II facing the Gland-magnet-I with opposite pole being provided around a central point present along a length of the Plunger- shaft; a straight rod-like Needle-shaft extending from the piston towards the proximal end of the Injector barrel, wherein a proximal end of the Needle- shaft is provided with an Attachment fixture at the tip to hold a Collapsible- bulb made of a resilient soft material to act as a collapsible piston; a Thumb-rest provided at a distal end of the Plunger shaft for application of force by a user; a Finger-rest provided at a distal end of the Injector barrel to hold the injector; and a Ring-seal provided at the proximal end of the Injector barrel and in contact with the Integrated gland to create a seal with a Fluid-cartridge or a Fluid-collector, and a capillary Fluid-cartridge including: a hollow capillary Fluid-cartridge barrel having a Conical-mouth at a proximal end; an Axial-capillary present along a central longitudinal axis of the Fluid-cartridge barrel; a bead-shaped Piston-head provided at a distal end of the Axial capillary; and a Needle-assembly comprising a Hypodermic Needle covered with a Tip-guard, present at a proximal end of the Axial-capillary, wherein a distal end of the Hypodermic Needle is fixed within a through hole of a Needle -hub, wherein proximal end of the Hypodermic Needle is closed with an End-tip bead having diameter higher than an aperture of Needle hub-restrictor Flange of the Axial capillary, wherein a particular volume of Fluid, mentioned at the surface of Fluid-cartridge barrel, is filled between the bead- shaped Piston-head and the Needle assembly, wherein the Fluid along with the Needle-hub containing the Hypodermic needle slides in forward direction within the Axial-capillary upon movement of the bead-shaped Piston-head in forward direction resulting the proximal end of Hypodermic needle to protrude out of the proximal end mouth of the Axial capillary piercing through the End-tip bead, and wherein L-shaped grooves provided at the inner surface of the Injector barrel firmly hold the capillary Fluid-cartridge through radial beads present on a distal end of the capillary Fluid-cartridge.

[0081] The Plunger shaft (30) is a straight rod like structure movable axially alongside the Injector barrel (10) provided with a Piston (31) at middle holding a Piston-magnet-II (36) and a Piston-seal (35) at an outer rim of the Piston (31). The Piston (31) extends outwards, towards an inner surface of the Injector barrel (10).
[0082] The distal end of Plunger shaft (30) is provided with a Thumb-rest (34) attached with a Threaded end (33). The Plunger shaft (30) is axially provided with a Capillary (32), with distal end opening around middle of the Plunger shaft (30) and constituting a conical Suction- cup (37) at proximal end. The distal end of the Capillary (32) opens outside the Injector barrel (10) when the syringe is present in an un-pressed (relaxed) condition. [0083] Another embodiment of Capillary-injector (A’ ”) is shown in Fig. 5(a) having a slight modification in injector (A”) to suit to Capillary Fluid-cartridge (B’). It consists of a Capillary Injector barrel (10’), Plunger shaft retainer (20’), Plunger shaft (30’), and a Gland- plug (40’). The Plunger shaft (30’) constitutes a straight rod-like Needle-shaft (39’) extending from the piston (3F) to the proximal end provided with an Attachment fixture (37’) at the proximal end of the Needle-shaft (39’) to hold a Collapsible-bulb (38’) made of resilient soft material to act as a collapsible piston. The Plunger shaft retainer (20’) is also modified accordingly as shown in Fig. 5(b).
[0084] The Fluid-cartridge (B) as shown in Fig. 1(b) consists of a Fluid-cartridge Barrel
(50), a Piston-head (60) and a Needle-assembly (70). Referring to Fig. lb, the Fluid-cartridge Barrel (50) is a uniformly regular and hollow cylindrical body, opening at both ends and with a conical mouth at proximal end (P) constituting a Cap Retention Fixture (52) at its outer surface. The Fluid-cartridge Barrel (50) is provided with radially arranged Retention Beads
(51) at distal end of the outer surface to firmly attach with the L-shaped grooves (15) provided internally at the proximal end of the Injector (A).
[0085] The Piston-head (60) consists of a cylindrical disc with a centrally protruded
Needle Catch Projection (61) present at its proximal end, and an O-ring Seal (62) present at the outer rim of the Piston-head (60). The Piston-head (60) having the O-ring Seal (62) is sealingly moveable alongside the Fluid-cartridge Barrel (50).
[0086] The Needle-assembly (70) consists of a Needle-hub (78) with a Needle Catch
Cavity (72) at distal end to receive and engage with the Needle Catch Projection (61). The Needle Catch Cavity (72) is provided with an axial Groove (71) alongside the inner rim. The Needle-hub (78) holds a uniform hollow regular and straight Hypodermic Needle (74) at proximal end distally opening in the Needle Catch cavity (72). The inner diameter of Needle Catch Cavity (72) is equal to the outer diameter of Needle Catch Projection (61) to receive and engage with it firmly. The Needle-hub (78) is provided with a Collar (77) at its distal end of the outer rim to hold the Displacer O-ring seal (73) between the Collar (77) and the inner surface of the Fluid-cartridge Barrel (50). The inner diameter of the Displacer O-ring seal (73) at distal end is kept slightly larger than the outer diameter of Collar (77) to disengage the Needle-hub (78) from the O-ring seal (73). It is further provided with a Needle cover (75) to guard the Hypodermic-needle (74) with a Retention-sleeve (76) at distal end and to engage with the Cap Retention-fixture (52) of Fluid-cartridge Barrel (50).
[0087] There is a space between Piston-head (60) and the Needle-assembly (70) to hold the Fluid (65), which may be aspirated into said space of empty Fluid-cartridge (B) from the intended Fluid source and/or said Fluid (65) may be transferred from such filled or prefilled Fluid-cartridge (B) into the injection site through hypodermic needle (74).
[0088] In empty Fluid-cartridge, the surface of the Fluid-cartridge barrel (50) is provided with graduation marks between the Piston-head (60) and the Needle-assembly (70) to read the volume of aspirated Fluid into said space (65), whereas in another embodiment of pre-filled Fluid-cartridge, a fixed volume of Fluid is filled in space (65) between the Piston- head (60) and the Needle-assembly (70), volume of which is written at the surface of the Fluid- c-rtridge barrel (50) of said Fluid-cartridge (B).
[0089] Another embodiment regarded as Capillary Fluid-cartridge (B’) as shown in
Fig. 6 consisting of a regular, uniform, straight, and hollow capillary Fluid-cartridge Barrel (50’) with a Conical-mouth (55’) at proximal end, housing inside an axially straight, regular, uniform and hollow Axial-capillary (53’). The Axial-capillary (53’) is present along a central longitudinal axis of the Fluid-cartridge Barrel (50’). Opening at a proximal end of the Axial- capillary (53’) is provided with a Needle hub-restrictor Flange (54’) to restrict the axial movement of the Needle-assembly (70’), the Axial-capillary (53’) holding a cylindrical disc or bead-shaped Piston-head (60’) at its distal end and Needle-assembly (70’) at proximal end holding a straight, regular, uniform and hollow Hypodermic Needle (74’) at proximal end. The Hypodermic Needle (74’) opening at both ends is provided with a slidable bead-shaped- structure constituting Needle -hub (78’) at distal end. A fixed volume of Fluid (65’) is pre-filled between the Piston-head (60’) and the Needle-hub (78’). The volume of Fluid inside the capillary is written at the surface of Fluid-cartridge Barrel (50’). The proximal end of the Fluid- Cartridge Barrel (50’) is provided with a conical Tip-guard (75’) to protect the Hypodermic Needle (74’). Proximal end of the Hypodermic Needle (74’) is closed with an End-tip bead (74a) having diameter higher than an aperture of Needle hub-restrictor Flange (54’) of the Axial capillary (53’). The End-tip bead (74a) would prevent leakage of the Fluid (65’) within the Needle hub-restrictor Flange (54’) and/or the Tip-guard (75’) while the Piston-head (60’) is being pressed for release of the Fluid (65’) in an injection site. During operation, the Needle hub-restrictor Flange (54’) would not allow the End-tip bead (74a) to move out and thus, the End-tip bead (74a) would get punctured by the Hypodermic Needle (74’) and the Fluid (65’) would be released only when the Hypodermic Needle (74’) moves out of the Needle hub- restrictor Flange (54’).
[0090] The Fluid-collector (C) as shown in Fig. 2 consists of a Fluid collecting Barrel
(80), a Piston-head (90), and a Needle-hub (110). The Fluid collecting Barrel (80) is a uniformly regular and hollow cylindrical body, opening at both ends provided with a conical Needle-retention Nozzle (84) at proximal end with an axial Capillary (83) centrally opening through the Needle-retention Nozzle (84) at proximal end to hold the Needle -hub (110) containing a Hypodermic Needle (111). The distal end of axial Capillary (83) opens in the Fluid collecting Barrel (80) to provide passage to the Hypodermic-needle (111). The proximal portion of the Fluid collecting Barrel (80) has a provision at its outer surface to retain the Needle cover (113) along with a radial Breakaway Seal (115), which fastens the Fluid collecting barrel (80) with a Needle cover (113). At the distal end, the Fluid collecting barrel (80) is radially provided with Retention-beads (81) to firmly engage with L-shaped grooves (15) of the Injector (A). The surface of Fluid collecting Barrel (80) is provided with Graduation-marks (82) to measure the volume of Fluid. The distal end of the Fluid collecting Barrel (80) is provided with a fixedly slidable Piston-head (90) housing inside the Fluid collecting barrel (80), comprising of a cylindrical disc provided with O-ring Seals (91) on its outer rim.
[0091] The Needle-hub (110) consists of a hollow conical body, with a distal end constituting Conical Lock-1 (112), with an inner diameter equal to an outer diameter of the Needle Retention Nozzle (84). It is provided with a uniform hollow regular and straight Hypodermic Needle (111) at proximal end.
[0092] The Needle cover (113) is a hollow cylindrical body opening at distal end with an inner diameter equal to the outer diameter of the Fluid collecting Barrel (80) and an elongated narrow cylindrical hollow body at proximal end to guard the Hypodermic Needle (111). The Needle cover (113) is internally provided with a Conical Lock-2 (114) at the distal end of elongated cylindrical body.
[0093] The Breakaway Seal (115) is a removable radial fixture at the distal end of the
Needle cover (113) to fasten the Fluid collecting Barrel (80) with the Needle cover (113). It is provided with a Tab (116) to break and remove the Breakaway seal (115) to separate the Needle cover (113) from the Fluid collecting barrel (80) to expose the Hypodermic Needle (111) before a Fluid collection process.
[0094] The Schematic details of operation of Fluid injecting and collecting system are shown in Figs. 7 to 11.
[0095] For injection procedure, various operational steps of the combination of the
Injector (A) and the Fluid-cartridge (B) is illustrated in Figs. 7(a) to (h). At first, the desired Fluid-cartridge (B) (either empty or pre-filled Fluid-cartridge as per requirement) is attached with Injector (A) to constitute the said retractable injection system. The distal end of the Fluid- cartridge (B) is attached at the proximal end of the Injector (A) through the Beads (51) of Fluid- cartridge by engaging said beads within the L-shaped grooves (15) to constitute the complete injection system in the form of Vacuum operable Retractable Syringe (100) as shown in Figure - 7(b). On attaching the Fluid-cartridge (B) with the Injector (A), an air tight seal is created at the junction between the injector (A) and the Fluid-cartridge (B) and the end-tip of Plunger shaft (30) comes in close contact of the distal surface of Piston-head (60) of the Fluid-cartridge (B).
[0096] While using empty Fluid-cartridge (B), the user needs to aspirate the Fluid
(medicament) from the Fluid container (vial, ampule etc.). In order to aspirate the Fluid from the Fluid container the Hypodermic needle (74) is exposed by removing the Needle guard (75) and the needle is placed embedded in Fluid of container. On exerting pressure on the Thumb- rest (34) to move the Plunger shaft (30) in forward direction, it simultaneously pushes the Piston-head (60) in forward direction along-side the Injector barrel (10), consequently a Vacuum (V) begins creating between the Ring seal (14) of the injector (A) and Piston-head (60) of the Fluid-cartridge (B). In case, the Fluid container is a closed vessel, air available between Piston-head (60) and the Needle-assembly (70) gets transferred into said Fluid container, which in turn helps in aspiration of Fluid by increasing air pressure inside said Fluid container. The Thumb-rest (34) is pressed to the extent that the Piston-head (60) does not touch the Displacer O-ring seal (73) of the Needle-assembly (70).
[0097] Thereupon, pressure applied on the Thumb-rest (34) is gradually released, which results in automatic movement of the Piston-head (60) in backward direction along with the Plunger shaft (30) due to release of Vacuum (V). The Fluid also begins aspirating from said Fluid container into the empty Fluid-cartridge (B). The desired volume of Fluid may thus be aspirated into empty Fluid-cartridge through controlled movement of the Plunger shaft (30) in forward and backward direction, in a usual manner. In this manner, required volume of the Fluid (65) is aspirated from said container by observing the volume through graduation marks placed at the surface of empty Fluid-cartridge (B). The hypodermic-needle is withdrawn after aspiration of said Fluid from the Fluid-container as shown in Fig. 7(d).
[0098] Now, the needle is gently inserted at injection site. When pressure is exerted on the Thumb-rest (34), the Plunger shaft (30) moves in forward direction to push the Piston-head (60) alongside the Fluid-cartridge barrel (50), which results in transfer of the Fluid (65) from the Fluid-cartridge (B) into the injection site through the Hypodermic-needle (74). When the Piston-head (60) comes in contact of the Displacer O-ring (73) and pushes it in forward direction, the Displacer O-ring (73) begins disengaging from the Needle -hub (78) and simultaneously the Needle-catch-projection (61) begins inserting in the Needle catch cavity (72), as shown in Fig. 7 (e). At this stage, the Fluid (65) trapped between the Piston-head (60) and the Needle-hub (78) conveniently passes through the Needle-cavity groove (71) and after completion of injection process, the Needle-catch-projection (61) completely occupies the Needle catch cavity (72) to attach the Needle-hub (78) along with the Hypodermic-needle (74), which is completely disengaged from the Displacer-O-ring (73) due to its sliding in forward direction. Thus, the Needle -hub (78) containing the Hypodermic-needle (74) is firmly attached with the proximal surface of the Piston-head (60) and becomes free to move in backward direction due to a gap created between the inner surface of the Displacer-O-ring (73) and outer surface of a Needle-rim-Collar (77), as shown in Fig. 7 (f).
[0099] When the pressure is gradually released from the Thumb-rest (34), the Vacuum
(V) begins releasing to retract the Hypodermic needle (74) attached with the Piston-head (60) along with the Plunger shaft (30) in backward direction, to bring the Injector (A) in initial state, as shown in Fig. 7(g). At the completion of injection procedure, the used Hypodermic needle (74) attached at proximal end of the Piston-head (60) is finally retracted and is safely encapsulated inside the empty Fluid-cartridge (B), which is finally detached from the injector (A) for safe disposal. In this manner, the Injector (A) attains its initial state to become ready for next injection procedure, as shown in Fig. 7(h).
[00100] In case, the prefilled Fluid-cartridge is attached with Injector (A) to constitute Vacuum operable retractable syringe, the injection procedure becomes quite easy and the operator simply needs to expose and insert the Hypodermic needle (74) into the injection site and press the Thumb-rest (34) to complete the injection procedure in the like manner.
[00101] For injection procedure, various operational steps of the combination of the Injector (A’) and the Fluid-cartridge (B) are illustrated in Figs. 8(a) to (h).
[00102] The desired Fluid-cartridge (B) (either empty or pre-filled Fluid-cartridge as per requirement) is attached with injector (A’) to constitute said retractable injection system (100’) in the like manner as shown in Fig. 8 (b).
[00103] The injector A’ has been provided with a Plunger shaft retainer (20), which effectively facilitates controlled movement of the Plunger shaft (30) while aspirating the Fluid from the Fluid container into the empty Fluid-cartridge or delivering the Fluid into the injection site. Rest functions of said system (100’) are performed in the like manner as described earlier in case of Injector (A), as shown in Figs. 7(a) to (h).
[00104] When the desired volume of Fluid is retained in Empty-cartridge, the movement of injector Shaft (30) may be retained by gently pushing the Slide-switch (23) in forward direction, which presses the Dynamic break-fixture (21b) inwardly to press the Compressible sheet (24) against the Static brake-fixture (21b), which arrests and restricts the movement of Shaft (30) in either direction. The Slide-switch (23) may be released further by pulling it in backward direction during the injection procedure to release the Plunger shaft (30) after inserting the hypodermic needle (74) into the injection site before exerting pressure on the Thumb-rest (34) to complete the injection procedure. [00105] For injection procedure, various operational steps of the combination of the
Injector (A”) and the Fluid-cartridge (B) are illustrated in Figs. 9(a) to (h).
[00106] The desired Fluid-cartridge (B) (either empty or pre-filled Fluid-cartridge as per requirement) is attached with Injector (A”) to constitute the said retractable injection system (100”) in the like manner as shown in Fig. 9(b).
[00107] The distal end of the desired Fluid-cartridge (B) (either empty or pre-filled Fluid-cartridge as per requirement) is attached at the proximal end of the Injector (A”) through the Retention beads (51) of Fluid-cartridge by engaging the said beads within L-shaped grooves (15) of the Injector (A”) to constitute complete injection system in form of Vacuum operable retractable syringe (100”), as shown in Fig. 9(b). On attaching said Fluid-cartridge (B) with Injector (A”), an airtight seal is created at the junction between the injector (A”) and the drug- cartridge (B) and the Suction cup (37) attached at the end-tip of capillary (32) of the Plunger shaft (30) comes in close contact of the distal surface of Piston-head (60) of the Fluid-cartridge (B).
[00108] The Piston (31) disposed at the middle of the Plunger shaft (30) initially remains in close contact with the Gland-plug (40) due to magnetic force of attraction created between opposite poles of magnets (44) and (36) embedded inside the gland-plug (40) and the Piston (31) respectively. On exerting pressure on Thumb-rest (34), the Plunger shaft (30) along with the Piston (31) moves in forward direction to create a first Vacuum (V-l) inside the Injector (A”) between the Piston (31) and the Gland-plug (40). Simultaneously, the suction cup (37) also pushes the Piston-head (60) in forward direction to create a second Vacuum (V-2) inside the Fluid-cartridge (B) between the Ring-seal (14) and the Piston-head (60). When the distal opening of Shaft-capillary (32) comes in contact of the first Vacuum (V-l), it sucks the air from suction cup (37) through the capillary (32) resulting the Suction cup (37) to firmly attach at the distal surface of the Piston-head (60). The force of attachment between the Suction cup (37) and the Piston-head (60) gradually increases with creation of the first Vacuum (V-l) and the second Vacuum (V-2) upon movement of the Piston (31) in forward direction, as shown in Fig. 9(c). During this process, air of the empty Fluid-cartridge gradually transfers into the Fluid container, increasing air-pressure inside Fluid-container. The Thumb-rest (34) is pressed to the extent that the piston-head does not touch the Displacer O-ring seal (73). When the pressure is gradually released from the Thumb-rest (34), it results into movement of the Piston (31) along with the Piston-head (60) in backward direction due to the release of the first Vacuum (V-l) and the second Vacuum (V-2). Consequently, the Fluid (65) rushes from the Fluid container into the empty Fluid-cartridge. The air-pressure inside the Fluid container also aids in this aspiration process of said Fluid. Desired volume of the Fluid (65) is aspirated into empty Fluid- cartridge through controlled movement of the Shaft in forward and backward direction. Volume of the Fluid (65) aspirated in the Fluid-cartridge may be read on its surface graduation marks. When desired volume of the Fluid (65) is retained in Empty-cartridge, movement of the injector Shaft (30) is retained by gently pushing the Slide-switch (23) in forward direction, which presses the Dynamic break- fixture (21b) inwardly to press the Compressible sheet (24) against the Static brake-fixture (21b), which arrests and restricts movement of the Shaft (30) in either direction. After aspiration of desired volume of Fluid, the Hypodermic-needle (74) is withdrawn from the Fluid-container, as shown in Fig. 9 (d).
[00109] Now, the Hypodermic needle (74) is gently inserted at injection site and the Slide-switch (23) is slightly pulled in backward direction to release the Plunger shaft (30) to allow its movement in backward direction due to release of the first Vacuum (V-l) and the second Vacuum (V-2), therefore operator needs be careful to keep proper control on the Thumb-rest (34) before pulling the Slide-switch (23).
[00110] On increasing further pressure on the Thumb-rest (34), the Plunger shaft (30) moves further in forward direction to push the Piston-head (60), which results in transfer of the Fluid (65) from the Fluid-cartridge (B) into the injection site, through the Hypodermic-needle (74). When the Piston-head (60) comes in contact of the Displacer O-ring (73) and pushes it in forward direction, the Displacer O-ring (73) begins disengaging from the Needle-hub (78) and simultaneously the Needle-catch-projection (61) begins inserting in the Needle catch cavity (72), as shown in Fig. 9(e). At this stage, the Fluid (65) trapped between the Piston-head (60) and the Needle-hub (78) conveniently passes through the Needle-cavity groove (71) and after completion of injection process, the Needle catch-projection (61) completely occupies the Needle catch cavity (72) to firmly attach the Needle-hub (78) along with the Hypodermic- needle (74). The Needle-hub (78) is completely disengaged from the Displacer-O-ring (73) by sliding in forward direction. Thus, the Needle-hub (78) containing the Hypodermic-needle (74) firmly attached with the proximal surface of the Piston-head (60) becomes free to move in backward direction due to a gap created between inner surface of the Displacer-O-ring (73) and outer surface of the Needle-rim-Collar (77), as shown in Fig. 9(f). When the pressure is gradually released from the Thumb-rest (34), the first Vacuum (V-l) and the second Vacuum (V-2) begin releasing to retract the Hypodermic needle (74) attached with the Piston-head (60), which is also attached to the Suction-cup (37) at distal end due to suction of its air. Thus, the Piston-head (60) containing the Hypodermic needle (74) gradually slides with the Plunger shaft (30) in backward direction. As soon as the distance between the Plunger shaft-piston (31) and the Gland-plug (40) decreases, force of attraction between opposite poles of the Gland magnet (44) and the Piston-magnet (36) begin increasing, to bring them in close contact of each other, as shown in Fig. 9(g). Open end of the Capillary (32) simultaneously comes outside of the Gland-plug (40) of the injector (A”) allowing the air to rush into capillary, in order to release its Vacuum, resulting into separation of the Suction-cup (37) from the Piston-head (60). At the completion of injection procedure, the used Hypodermic needle (74) attached at proximal end of the Piston-head (60) is finally retracted and safely encapsulated inside the empty Fluid- cartridge (B), which is finally detached from the injector (A”) and is safely disposed-off. The Injector (A”) finally attains its initial state to become ready for next injection procedure, as shown in Fig. 9(h).
[00111] In case, the prefilled Fluid-cartridge is attached with Injector (A”) to constitute Vacuum operable retractable syringe, the injection procedure becomes quite easy and the operator simply needs to attach the said Fluid-cartridge with Injector (A”), expose and insert the Hypodermic needle into the injection site, and press the Thumb-rest to complete the injection procedure in the like manner.
[00112] Another embodiment of Capillary -injector (A’”) may be employed conveniently for injecting the micro -do sage of injectable Fluid (65’) with a volume of 0.5ml or lesser pre-filled in the Capillary (53’) of Capillary-Fluid-cartridge (B’) between the Piston- head (60’) and the Needle-assembly (70’), as shown in Fig. 10 (a).
[00113] In this case, distal end of the Capillary Fluid-cartridge (B’) is attached at the proximal end of the Capillary-injector (A’”) with the help of its radial beads (51”) and the L- shaped groove (15”) of the Injector (A’”) in the like manner to constitute said Vacuum retractable safety syringe (100’”), as shown in Fig. 10(b). The Tip-guard (75’) of the Capillary Fluid-cartridge is removed to expose its proximal end and the exposed end-tip of Capillary Fluid-cartridge (B’) is placed at injection site at desirable angle, as shown in Fig. 10 (b). When the Thumb-rest (34’) is pressed during the injection process, proximal end of the Collapsible- bulb (38’) resting at the distal end of a Capillary (53’) of Capillary Fluid-cartridge (B’) enters into the Capillary (53’) and acts like a piston. It results into creation of a first Vacuum (V-l) in Injector (A’ ”) between a Gland-plug (40’) and the Piston (31 ’), which goes on increasing with movement of Plunger shaft (30’) in forward direction. The Collapsible-bulb (38’) presses the Piston-head (60’), which in turn presses the Fluid along with Needle-assembly (70’) in forward direction. On further pressing the Thumb-rest (34’), the Hypodermic-needle (74’) moves in forward direction and gently pierces the End-tip bead (74a) and enters into injection site. At this stage, the proximal end of the Needle-hub (70’) moving in forward direction is restricted along with the End-tip bead (74a) by narrow proximal aperture/opening (54’) of Capillary- Fluid-cartridge (B’), which results in the exertion of mounting pressure on Piston-head directly on the pre-filled Fluid itself, consequently, the Fluid (65’) begins rushing in forward direction and injecting into the injection site passing through the Hypodermic-needle (74’) as shown in Figs. 10 (c) and (d).
[00114] On completion of injection procedure, pressure applied on the Thumb-rest (34’) is gradually released, which results in auto-release of the first Vacuum (V-l) and auto movement of Plunger shaft (30’) along with Collapsible -bulb (38’) in backward direction. The Collapsible-bulb (38’) acting like apiston inside the Capillary (53’) sucks the Piston-head (60’) along with the Needle- assembly (70’) in backward direction, resulting into retraction of the Hypodermic-needle (74’) into the Capillary (53’). During this process, with release of the first Vacuum (V-l) and decrease in distance between Plunger shaft-piston (3G) and Gland-plug (40’), the force of attraction between opposite poles of Gland magnet (44’) and Piston-magnet (36’) begins increasing to bring them in close contact of each other. At this stage, the Collapsible-bulb is completely withdrawn from the capillary and the Capillary-injector (A’) attains the initial state to become ready for the next injection procedure as shown in Fig. 10 (e). [00115] The used Hypodermic -needle (74’) is finally retracted and encapsulated inside the capillary in empty Capillary-Fluid-cartridge (B’), which may be detached from the Capillary-injector and safely disposed-off as shown in Fig. 10 (f).
[00116] It is also noteworthy that in this injection procedure, the Hypodermic needle (74’) is not visible at all at any stage.
[00117] The Schematic details of operation of Fluid collecting system are shown in Figs.
11 (a) to (h). [00118] The Injector (A’) discussed in preceding embodiments may be conveniently employed for Fluid collection process. The Injector (A”) may also be employed for the Fluid collection purpose, provided the Plunger shaft (30) does not contain the capillary (32) and the suction cup (37).
[00119] While using the said Injector (A”) without the capillary (32) and the Suction- cup (37) for fluid collection purpose, distal end of the Fluid-collector (C) is attached at proximal end of the Injector (A”), through the beads (81) of the Fluid-collector, by engaging said beads (81) within the L-shaped grooves (15) of Injector (A”), to constitute complete Fluid collection system. On attaching the said Fluid-collector (C) with Injector (A”), an air tight seal is created at the junction between the injector (A”) and the Fluid-collector (C) and also the end-tip of the Plunger shaft (30) comes in close contact of the distal surface of the Piston-head (90) of the Fluid-collector (C), as shown in Fig. 11(b).
[00120] Subsequently, the Breakaway Seal (115) joining the Fluid collecting barrel (80) with Needle-cover (113) is broken and removed with help of a Seal-tab (116), to expose the Hypodermic needle (111), Pressure is exerted on the Thumb-rest (34) to move the Plunger shaft (30) along with the Piston-head (90) in forward direction alongside the Fluid collecting Barrel (80) until the Piston-head touches the internal end of said Fluid collecting Barrel (80) to remove its air from Fluid collector. During this process, a first Vacuum (V-l) is created between the Piston (31) of the Plunger shaft (30) and the Gland -plug (40) inside the Injector (A”) and a second Vacuum (V-2) is created between Ring seal (14) of Injector and Piston-head (90) of Fluid collector (C), as shown in Fig. 11 (c).
[00121] Now, the Slide-switch (23) is slightly pushed in forward direction to arrest movement of the Plunger shaft (30). The needle (111) of Fluid collector (C) is inserted/placed in the Fluid source and the Slide-switch (23) is gently pulled back to gradually release movement of the Plunger shaft (30) in backward direction in order to release the first Vacuum (V-l) in injector (A”) and the second Vacuum (V-2) in the Fluid collecting barrel (80) of the Fluid collector (C). It results in gradual movement of the Plunger shaft (30) along with the Piston-head (90) in backward direction resulting withdrawal of Fluid (65”) from the source into the Fluid-collector (C). As soon as the desired volume of Fluid is withdrawn and collected in the Fluid collecting barrel (80), the Slide-switch (23) is again gently pushed in forward direction to restrict the movement of the Plunger shaft (30), and the needle (111) is withdrawn from the Fluid source. The volume of said Fluid may be well observed and noted through the graduation marks provided on surface of the Fluid collector (C). The needle (111) is then carefully covered with the Needle-cover (113). As soon as the Needle-cover (113) is pressed against the Fluid collecting barrel (80), it slides in backward direction to occupy the space of removed Breakaway Seal (115) on the surface of Fluid collector (C), which results engagement and locking of the Conical Lock-2 (114) with the Conical Lock-1 (112) encapsulating the needle (111) inside the Needle cover (113), as shown in Fig. 11 (d).
[00122] In order to detach the Fluid-collector (C) from the Injector (A”), the Fluid collector is gently rotated in anticlockwise direction, while holding the Injector (A”). The loosened junction allows outer air to rush inside the Fluid collecting barrel (80) to release the second Vacuum (V-2) and to allow movement of the Plunger shaft (30) in backward direction due to release of the first Vacuum (V-l), in order to bring the Injector (A) in initial state. The Fluid-collector (C) containing desired volume of Fluid may now be safely preserved/transported for further processing as shown in Fig. 11 (e).
[00123] Desired volume of the Fluid (65”) contained in the Fluid-collector (C) may be withdrawn and conveniently transferred into the desired container by attaching said Fluid- collector (C) again with the same Injector (A”) in the like manner. For this purpose, when the Needle-cover (113) is removed from the Fluid collecting barrel (80), the needle separates from the Needle Retention Nozzle (84) due to obstruction of Conical Lock-2 (114). Consequently, the needle (111) remains safely locked and encapsulated inside the Needle cover (113), which is never exposed or reused, as shown in Fig. 11 (f) . If required, the user may attach fresh needle with the end tip of Needle-retention-nozzle (84).
[00124] On pressing the Thumb-rest (34) in forward direction, desired volume of the Fluid stored in Fluid collector (C) ejaculates from the Needle-retention-nozzle (84) (or from the hypodermic needle, if separately attached with the nozzle) in usual manner as shown in Fig. 11 (g).
[00125] After withdrawal of fluid stored in Fluid collector, the Needle cover (113) is re capped at proximal end of the Fluid collector before detaching the used Fluid collector for safe disposal.
[00126] The new Hypodermic-needle, if separately attached with the Needle-retention- nozzle during withdrawal of stored fluid from the Fluid-collector is also finally encapsulated inside the Needle cover (113) of Fluid-collector (C) along with previously used Hypodermic needle (111) used during the fluid collection procedure, which may be detached from the Injector (A) and may be safely disposed-off, as shown in Fig. 11 (h).
[00127] Injector (A’) may be employed for Fluid collection process of the predefined volume of Fluid (65”) storable within the whole space available in empty Fluid collector (C) between the Piston-head (90) and proximal end of the Fluid collector (C). The Injector (A’) may be attached with the said empty Fluid collector of the known volume mentioned on its surface in the like manner and the rest of the process employs identical operational steps as described for the Fluid collection process by Injector (A”) in preceding description.
[00128] The Injector (A-l) as shown in Figs. 12 (a) to (e) consists of an Injector barrel (10), a telescopic barrel (18) holding a Plunger shaft (30), and a Plunger shaft retainer (20). [00132] The Rim (19) of the Injector barrel (10) is provided with two equidistant
Slots (19a), as shown in Fig. 12(b), which are oppositely facing to each other and perpendicularly connected with straight, linear and parallel grooves (27a) at the inner surface of Injector-barrel (10) through L-shaped grooves (27) rotatable at 90° angle.
[00133] Inner diameter of the Rim (19) of the Injector-barrel (10) is slightly greater than outer diameter of Telescopic barrel (18) to allow its movement in forward and backward direction with help of the Thumb-rest (34) provided at distal end of the Telescopic barrel (18). [00134] The Telescopic barrel (18), as shown in Fig. 12(d), is a uniformly hollow, regular cylindrical body opened at proximal end. It is closed at distal end and is axially integrated at center with a Plunger shaft (30), which is a straight, uniform and regular rod like structure, axially running parallel to the Telescopic barrel (18) and constituting a Chamber (25) between the Plunger shaft (30) and the Telescopic barrel (18) to hold a Compressible spring (26). The diameter of Plunger shaft throughout its length is slightly lesser than the Integrated- gland (12) and the Ring-seal (14), so as to create an airtight seal with the Fluid-cartridge (B) or Fluid-collector (C) through the O-ring seal-1 (13) embedded with Integrated-gland (12) at its inner surface.
[00135] Distal end of the Telescopic barrel (18) is provided with a Thumb-rest (34) to move the Telescopic barrel (18) alongside the Injector barrel (10) in forward and backward direction. [00136] The Beads (18a) are of such dimensions and in such alignment with slots (19a), so that the beads (18a) may conveniently pass through the slots (19a), while fitting the Telescopic barrel (18) inside the Injector-barrel (10) in order to facilitate the sliding movement of Telescopic barrel (18) in forward and backward direction inside the Injector-barrel (10) within its parallel, straight and linear grooves (27a) provided at the internal surface.
[00137] Outer diameters and width of the slots (19a) and the grooves (27) and (27a) are equal to one another but slightly greater than inner diameter of the Injector barrel (10) and the outer diameter of beads (18a), in order to allow convenient passage to the beads (18a) of the Telescopic barrel (10) to fit and movably engage within the oppositely facing straight, linear and parallel Grooves (27a) of Injector-barrel (10), so as to facilitate axial movement of the Telescopic barrel (18) inside the Injector-barrel (10) in forward and backward direction. [00138] While fitting and engaging the Telescopic barrel (18) within the Injector barrel (10), the beads (18a) of the Telescopic barrel (18) are conveniently passed through the Slots (19a) of the Rim (19). The L-shaped grooves (27) facilitate axial rotation of the bead (18a) inside the Injector barrel (10) at 90° angle in clockwise direction, in order to slip and fit the Beads (18a) inside the straight, linear and parallel grooves (27a), to allow axial movement of the Telescopic barrel (18) in forward and backward direction.
[00139] The Plunger shaft retainer (20) consists of a crescent shaped Static brake-fixture (21a) and a Dynamic brake-fixture (21b) with a Compressible sheet (24) sandwiched between them provided with a Central passage (22) for the Plunger shaft (30) to move parallely alongside the Injector barrel (10). [00141] In this Telescopic Injector (A-2), the length of the Plunger shaft (30) may be increased keeping the original length of Injector barrel (10) constant in order to suit to the Fluid-cartridges (B, B’) and the Fluid collectors (C) of varying volumes of Fluids with greater length, which require more axial displacement of Plunger shaft (30) in forward direction to accomplish the intended injection of Fluid collection procedure successfully.
[00142] In this embodiment of disclosure, the Thumb-rest (34) provided at the distal end of Telescopic Barrel (18) is removed and it is provided at the distal end of the Extended Plunger shaft (30).
