Definitions
- an electronic device such as mobile phone, smartphone, biometric data reader or computer which carries out an authentication transaction has to switch to an online status and to communicate with a server that keeps the biometric data of the person under record in itself. Due to the fact that the biometric data of the person are recorded inside the server previously, the biometric data of the person obtained by means of the biometric data reader for that moment by the electronic device is sent from the electronic device to the server over the communication established with the server.
- the server carries out an authentication transaction by comparing the biometric data of the person received from the electronic device with the biometric data being kept such that it is matched with the related person and it sends the positive or the negative result about the transaction carried out to the electronic device again over the connection established with the electronic device.
- the United States patent document no. US2014181924 discloses an intelligent electronic device for authenticating users. Fingerprint, retina/iris print sensors, readers of magnetic, holographic, RFID cards, and a numeric keypad whereby the information identifying the users can be collected are located on the intelligent device in the said invention. Authorized persons using the user authentication module in the invention can control various information about the related user such as billing, data acquisition.
- a processing unit which communicates and/or operates with the intelligent device, sensors which obtain the data of the users, a remote server wherein the user information obtained from the servers are gathered in the invention. The user information and/or the data received from the sensors are compared with the data of the related user included in the remote server.
- there is also a user database which communicates with the remote server. The remote server carries out authentication of the related user by means of the user database.
- An objective of the present invention is to realize an electronic device which enables to carry out an authentication transaction as offline without having to be online.
- Another objective of the present invention is to realize an electronic device which enables to carry out authentication transactions over biometric data.
- Another objective of the present invention is to realize an electronic device which prevents personal identity information from being stolen by third parties during authentication transactions due to the fact that authentication transactions are carried out as offline.
- Figure l is a schematic view of the inventive electronic device.
- Processing unit The inventive electronic device (1) which enables to carry out an authentication transaction as offline without having to be online comprises
- At least one first reader (3) which is located on the body (2) and enables to detect at least one biometric data of a person who will carry out an authentication transaction;
- At least one processing unit (5) which is connected with the first reader (3) and the second reader (4) and configured to compare at least one biometric data that is read by means of the first reader (3) with the biometric data that is read by means of the second reader (4) and corresponds to the biometric data being read by means of the first reader (3) and to carry out an authentication transaction in the event that the biometric data read match with each other as a result of the comparison transaction but to refuse the authentication transaction in the event that the biometric data read do not match with each other as a result of the comparison transaction.
- the body (2) included in the inventive electronic device (1) keeps the first reader (3), the second reader (4) and the processing unit (5).
- the body (2) keeps the first reader (3) and the second reader (4) as externally accessible whereas it keeps the processing unit (5) as externally inaccessible.
- the second reader (4) included in the inventive electronic device (1) is located on the body (2) and it is configured to read the data embedded into a data carrier that is located on an article such as identity, driving license, passport which is evident to belong to a person being authenticated and that keeps at least one biometric data about the person under record in itself.
- the second reader (4) is a chip reader circuit that is located in articles such as identity or passport and that is suitable to read a chip wherein at least one biometric data about the person owning the said article is embedded. The biometric data read by the second reader (4) is sent to the processing unit (5).
- the processing unit (5) included in the inventive electronic device (1) is located on the body (2) and it is in connection with the first reader (3) and the second reader (4) such that it can receive the biometric data read by the first reader (3) and the second reader (4) from the first reader (3) and the second reader (4).
- the processing unit (5) is configured to compare the biometric data received from the first reader (3) with the data received from the second reader (4).
- the processing unit (5) is configured to carry out the authentication transaction positively in the event that the biometric data compared with one another as a result of the comparison transaction are the same.
- the processing unit (5) is configured to refuse the authentication transaction in the event that the biometric data compared with one another as a result of the comparison transaction are different.
- the first reader (3) is a fingerprint reader and the second reader (4) is a chip reader circuit that is located on the identity of the person who will carry out the authentication transaction and that is suitable to read the chip wherein the fingerprint data about the person are included
- the authentication transaction carried out by means of the inventive electronic device (1) is described below.
- the person who wants to carry out an authentication transaction places his/her finger onto the first reader (3) and thereby, the first reader (3) determines the biometric data which is the fingerprint of the said person and sends this data to the processing unit (5). Then, the person positions his/her identity on the body (2) such that the chip corresponds to the chip reader circuit.
- the second reader (4) which is a chip reader circuit, accesses the person’s fingerprint data inside the chip and sends this data to the processing unit (5).
- the processing unit (5) compares the fingerprint data received from the first reader (3), which is a fingerprint reader in this example, with the fingerprint data that is recorded inside the identity received from the second reader (4) which is a chip reader circuit.
- the processing unit (5) carries out the authentication transaction in the event that the biometric data read as a result of the comparison transaction match with one another whereas it refuses the authentication transaction in the event that the biometric data read as a result of the comparison transaction do not match with one another.
