Abstract

This invention discloses an energy efficient cooking vessel. The vessel is comprising of a hollow exterior cover open to the heat source. The hollow exterior provides a path for conductive heat transfer through air to the inside surface of the vessel thereby improving heating efficiency.

Description

An Energy Efficient Cooking and Heating Vessel
Description of the Invention
The invention is described with the help of the drawings described below.
Description of the Drawings
Figure 1 is the cross-sectional view of a conventional heating and cooking vessel.
Figure 2 is the cross-sectional view of the inventive heating and cooking vessel.
Figure 3 is the cross-sectional (plan) view of the inventive heating and cooking vessel.
Figure 4 is the plan view (non-cross-sectional )viewof the inventive heating and cooking vessel.
Background and Description of the Invention
Conventional heating and cooking vessels fed by fire (byfirewood or burnable gases) provide heat to the external bottom surface of the vessel thereby heatingthe bottom exterior of the vessel. The heat passes to the inside surface by way of conduction and enters to the matter inside the vessel. (Figure 1)
In the conventional method, there is a considerable amount of wasted heat energy going out of the external surface by way of convection.
The objective of this invention is to harness the wasted heat energy due to convection.
In this invention (Figure 2), the vessel consists of two layers separated by a hoi low peri meter. The two layers can be connected continuously or non -continuously. The plan view of such a non -continuously connected two layers are depicted in Figure 3.
In the inventive vessel, the heat supplied to the bottom exterior surface as depicted in Figure 2 enters the contents inside the vessel though conduction. The hollow path created by the two connected layers provide a path for convection heat to reach the cylindrical side surfaces of the internal layer of the vessel.
The holes depicted in Figure 4and 5 is the passage for convection heat passing through the two surfaces of the vessel.
The space between the two surfaces can be any width but ideally it should be between 10—15 centimeters. The space varies with the size of the vessel. As a rule of thumb, the space is about 1/16 of the diameter (perimeter) of the vessel.
There is also conductive heat passing to the inner surf ace through the connections of interior and exterior layers. Thus, the heat transfer to the side surface is enhanced. In an experiment done using the inventive vessel, it was observed that the heat bubbles generate not only from the bottom surface but also form the side cylindrical surfaces. It was observed that there is about 20 pc efficiency in the inventive vessel.
As obvious to those who are skilled in the art, this vessel improvement can be used in any heating or cooking vessel operated by external heatgenerated byfire orelectricity.
Industrial boilers can also use this technique to improve heat efficiency of the boilers.
The vessel heat efficiency can further be improved by having a heat insulation layer on outer surface of the outerlayer.
