Abstract

The invention describes and presents a drive assembly (10) for a bicycle, comprising a crank drive which transmits a driving force from a chainwheel, which is near to the crank drive, to a pinion (14), which is near to the rear wheel, by means of an endlessly circulating traction means, such as a chain or a toothed belt, and sets into rotation a rear wheel of the bicycle for putting the same into motion; a first multiplying gear between chainwheel and pinion (14), which exclusively has a transmission ratio of i < 1, a continuously switchable main gear (25) which is arranged at the rear wheel and allows a multiplication of the driving force acting from the pinion (14) to the rear wheel, a second multiplying gear which is exclusively formed by the main gear (25), an auxiliary motor (50) which is mounted at the rear wheel and downstream of the first multiplying gear relative to the force flow. A reduction gear (42) is arranged in the force flow between auxiliary motor (50) and main gear (25), by which the drive energy of the auxiliary motor (50) is introduced into the main gear (25), the reduction gear (42) having a reduction ratio of only i > 1.
