Abstract

يعمل الصمام بقفاز أو بزلاق يغطي أحد فتحتين في وضع ثم ينتقل ليغطي فتحة أخرى مقابلة في الوضع الثاني. في كل وضع من الوضعين يقوم بفصل الفتحة المغطاة عن فتحة ثالثة وتوصيل هذه الفتحة الثالثة بالفتحة الثانية، وتعكس التوصيل في الوضع الثاني. ولضمان سرعة الاستجابة فإن القفاز أو الزلاق له أقل كتلة ممكنة ومن ثم أقل قصور ذاتي، وينتقل بين الوضعين في مسافة صغيرة بفعل مشغل ويعود بفعل ضغط السائل(أو الغاز في حالة التطبيقات الأخرى) العالي الذي يمكن أن يوفر قوة تحريك كبيرة أو بزنبرك أو بكليهما معاً. يؤثر الضغط العالي على مساحتين متقاربتين بكلا جانبي القفاز أو الزلاق، وهذا يوفر ميزتين مهمتين: أولهما أن المطلوب من المشغل توفير قوة لتتغلب على القوة الناتجة من تأثير الضغط العالي على فرق المساحتين فقط وليس على مساحة القفاز الجانبية الكبيرة، وثانيهما أن سماكة قرص القفاز يمكن ترقيقها إلى حد كبير بما يقلل كثيراً من كتلته ومن ثم قصوره الذاتي. وكحالات خاصة فإنه يمكن استخدام فتحتين بدلاً من ثلاثة، ويمكن مع الفتحتين توصيل الفتحة الثالثة بضغط مرتفع يتم استخدامه في سرعة إعادة القفاز كضغط إرشاد، كما يمكن ايجاد فصل دائم أو اتصال دائم بين أي خطين عند كلا وضعي التشغيل. يمكن استخدام الصمام مع الهواء المضغوط كاستخدامه في التحكم الهيدروليكي لكن بمواد تصنيع مختلفة تناسب التحكم النيوماتيكي.
