Abstract
A system and method for a large ship (200) to immobilize malicious small watercraft (210) comprises of an unmanned underwater vehicle (100, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700). The vehicle (100, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700) can be launched immediately upon detection of the threat. When the watercraft (210) comes close, preparing to start boarding attack, the vehicle (100, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700) either uses it's onboard propulsion (504, 604, 704) or is towed with a cable (120, 122) to sneak up on the watercraft (210) and deliver an immobilizing effect, such as a hard crash or a stalling entanglement, on the propulsion mechanism (212) of the watercraft (210).
