Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention generally relates to vehicle-based water management system. More particularly, the invention relates to an effective utilization of water flowing out from an automobile air conditioner for other purposes in a vehicle or for human needs.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION;
Now a day's using automobile is not considered as luxury but a necessity. Also due to the increase in atmospheric temperature especially in summer, the automobile air conditioners are turned on for maximum number of hours in a day. Automobile sales are growing at a very high rate and especially the percentage of air conditioned automobiles sales are even touching up to 90 % of the total sales. When the air conditioner of automobile is switched on while running, certain amount of water flows out through the bottom of the vehicle. This is due to the condensation process of the air conditioner while cooling the passenger cabin of the automobile. This is clearly visible when the automobile is stopped after running some distance and the air conditioner is in the ON mode. This water is wasted to the ground. Studies show that around 1 litre of water is generated and wasted when an automobile runs for about 40-50 KM with the air conditioner in the "ON" mode.
Moreover, the car also constitutes certain units where water is required for various purposes. These include water for cleaning the wind shield, water for engine cooling the engine, water for head lamp cleaning etc. Thus the individual or the service personal must routinely inspect and refill the water in all these reservoirs. In order to reduce this manual process of filling water or the problems which can affect the vehicle due to water level been low, to reduce time and operational cost and prevent the wastage of water, a specific method is needed to direct the water condensed from the air conditioner to various units where water is required.
In the conventional system, there are some methods available for the utilization of this water. United States Patent No. 6431201 to Chau; Chin Lyeentitled "Wet battery and vehicle-based water management system" describes a water management apparatus for a motor car in which the condensed water from the air conditioning system is stored in the central storage tank and fed into the plurality of storage tank via a pipe. The fed water is filtered using a mechanical filter and used for spray jets or to radiator of the engine's cooling system. Overflow outlet arrangement is used to drain excess water, when the tank is full.
Chinese Patent No. 203132065 and 203198688 relate to an automobile air conditioning condensation water recycling unit where the condensed water is stored in small containers and pumped using pumping motors to the other purpose storage containers.
Chinese Patent No. 2441670 to Huang Dabiao entitled "Device for automatic using condensation of automobile air conditioner" discusses a device for automatically using the condensed water of an automobile air conditioner. The condensed water is stored in water holder and an output end with plurality of furcate openings is respectively connected to a water tank like wiper tank or heat dissipation net of an engine. The output terminal of the fork has a sensing sensor switch to control the on or off state of fork. Mini electric water pump is used in the condensed water for uphill transport.
United States Patent Application No. 20040237561 to Duarte Barreto Junior, Walter; entitled "System for utilizing water originating from the air conditioning system in order to supply water to the automobile windshield wiper reservoir" relates to a system with water collecting container which comprises a pump for pumping the waterto the windshield wiper system.
Chinese Patent No. 202002283 to ZHANGZHOU JINLONG BUS CO LTD entitled "Automotive air conditioner with condensed water atomizer pump" discloses a guide valve to collect the condensed water from automotive air conditioner and spray it with the atomizer pump for keeping, the circumference of the automobile clean and to increase the cooling speed of the automobile
All existing art though disclose a manual or automatic method of using the condensed water from the air conditioner for various means, the method is slightly complex compared to the methods disclosed in the invention. These prior art does not include sensor arrangement which can sense the weight / level of the water in the storage reservoir continuously. The present invention is to utilize the condensed water for various purposes in the vehicle and it is considered most simple based on the pump mechanism that filters the water by sensing the maximum weight / level in the storage container and redirecting it to the other air tight reservoirs to be stored for various purposes.
The present invention aims to preserve water as a green initiative and utilize it for various purposes in the vehicle and also for human needs.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
An object of the present invention is ίό utilize the condensed water drained from an automotive air conditioning system. The system consists of a storage reservoir or container that collects water from the automobile air conditioner and then transfers it by a pump through a filter to various air tight water storage reservoirs. The water from the air tight water storage reservoirs can be used as a source for fire protection system in the event of fire in vehicles and also can be used to make up the water required for engine cooling purpose, wind shield screen washer and head light washer. The water so generated is further purified by providing extra filters before each automobile storage reservoir.. For reading the level/ weight of water in each reservoir, a weight sensor or a level sensor is utilised individually in all the reservoirs.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The objective of the present invention will how be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram showing the step by step process of the water from automobile air conditioners being collected in the water storage reservoirs. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION;
In the present invention, the AC water utilization is introduced in order to preserve the water that is drained from the condenser and wasted on the ground. The automobile fitted with air conditioners will release certain amount of water due to condensation of hot air when the air 100 conditioner is in the "ON" mode. The quantity of water depends on the size of the vehicle and cooling capacity of the air conditioner of the vehicle i.e. the generation of water will be more in a bus than in a car.
Now referring to the invention in more detail, as illustrated in fig 1, the AC water drained
105 from the automobile is initially collected in a water storage reservoir. When the water in the initial storage reservoir reaches maximum set weight or the maximum level, the pump connected with this reservoir starts automatically and the water will be pumped through a filter to an air tight water storage reservoir which is fitted with a maximum and minimum level sensor or weight sensors. The weight sensor senses the weight of water in the air tight
110 storage reservoir or the level sensor senses the level of water in the air tight storage reservoir.
The pump fitted with the air tight storage reservoir automatically starts when the water weight or level reaches maximum. The water will be pumped either to the coolant reservoir or to the wind shield water reservoir or to head lamp cleaning water reservoir or to the drinking water reservoir or to the fire protection system depending on the level of water in
115 these tanks or as the case may be. This pumping process will continue till water reaches the maximum by weight identified by the weight sensor or maximum level by the level sensor in the respective storage tanks or till it reaches the minimum level or weight in the initial storage tank. In the event of all the reservoirs are full and the weight/level of water in the initial storage reservoir reaches the maximum value, the exhaust valve opens and the water will be
120 pumped and drained to the ground.
Extra filters are provided before each automobile storage reservoir to make sure that the water is clean and free from impurities.
125 While this invention has been particularly shown and described with references to preferred embodiments thereof it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes in form and details may be made therein without departing from the scope of the invention encompassed by the appended claims.
