Definitions
- the present invention relates to a vehicular lamp using a light guide.
- Patent Document 1 describes that, in a vehicular lamp including a light source and a light guide, a fine uneven structure is formed on an incident surface of the light guide on which light from the light source enters. According to this, reflection on the incident surface is reduced, and light entering the light guide from the incident surface is increased. As a result, the light use efficiency can be increased.
- the present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a vehicular lamp configured to suppress diffusion of light in the vertical direction while diffusing light in the horizontal direction inside the light guide. Is to provide.
- a vehicle lamp includes a light source and a light guide disposed so that light emitted from the light source enters from one end face.
- the light guide emits the light guided into the light guide toward the front of the vehicle from the emission surface along the extending direction of the light guide.
- the light guide is formed on a surface opposite to the light exit surface and reflects light directed into the light guide toward the light exit surface, and is formed on one end surface, with the one end surface in a substantially horizontal direction.
- Each of the cross sections when cut has a circular arc shape and a plurality of diffusion steps extending in the same shape in a substantially vertical direction.
- the diffusion of light in the vertical direction can be suppressed while the light is diffused in the horizontal direction of the light guide by the plurality of diffusion steps extending in the same shape in the substantially vertical direction. Moreover, since light is diffused in the horizontal direction immediately after entering the end face, the exit face can be illuminated from the very vicinity of the end face.
- the present invention in a vehicle lamp using a light guide, it is possible to suppress diffusion of light in the vertical direction while diffusing light in the horizontal direction of the light guide.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a vehicular lamp 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention, and shows a state when the vehicular lamp 100 disposed on the right side of the front of the vehicle is cut along a horizontal plane.
- the vehicle lamp 100 includes a light source 20 and an elongated light guide 10 made of a transparent resin.
- the light source 20 is a semiconductor light emitting element such as an LED (Light Emitting Diode).
- the light guide 10 is curved while extending in the vehicle width direction from the vicinity of the light source 20, and extends toward the rear of the vehicle.
- the light guide 10 is arranged so that light emitted from the light source 20 enters from the one end face 10a, and the light guided to the inside of the light guide is emitted along the extending direction of the light guide. 10b is emitted toward the front of the vehicle. A large number of reflection steps are formed on the surface 10c opposite to the exit surface 10b to reflect the light guided into the light guide 10 toward the exit surface (see FIG. 3).
- the shape of the cross section orthogonal to the long axis of the light guide 10 may be uniform in the extending direction or may be partially changed.
- An outer cover 30 made of transparent resin is disposed on the vehicle front side of the light guide 10.
- the substrate 21 on which the light source 20 is mounted and the light guide 10 are fixed to the lamp body 26 by fitting or bonding.
- An extension member 22 is disposed between the light source 20 and the outer cover 30 so that the light source 20 is not observed from the outside of the vehicle.
- the vehicular lamp 100 can be used for various purposes including, for example, a clearance lamp (CLL), a day lamp (DRL), a turn signal lamp, or a decorative lamp.
- CLL clearance lamp
- DRL day lamp
- turn signal lamp or a decorative lamp.
- the light emission color of the light source 20 may be changed according to the function of the lamp, or the light guide 10 may be colored.
- the emission surface corresponding to the reflection step (the emission surface that should receive the reflected light from the reflection step) does not emit light.
- the light reflection inside the light guide can be made regular, resulting in a difference in brightness (light intensity density) on the light exit surface of the light guide. End up.
- diffusion of light in the vertical direction which is unnecessary as a vehicular lamp, occurs.
- a plurality of diffusion steps designed to diffuse light rays immediately after entering the light guide and to suppress light diffusion in the vertical direction are provided on the incident end face of the light guide. I made it.
- FIG. 2 shows an example of the end face of the light guide.
- the arrows in the figure represent the trajectories of light rays emitted from the light source 20 and guided into the light guide 10.
- a plurality of diffusion steps 12 a, 12 b, 14 a, and 14 b are formed on the end surface 10 a of the light guide 10.
- Each of the diffusion steps 12a, 12b, 14a, and 14b is a concave arcuate surface at the cut surface in the horizontal direction or a direction close thereto, and as shown in the perspective view of FIG. Extends in the same shape.
- the process of the diffusion step extending in the same shape in one direction is relatively easy.
- the optical axis Ax of the light source 20 and the vertical axis Bx of the light guide are not on the same straight line, but have an angle of less than a right angle.
- the light incident on the end face is hardly diffused in the vertical direction, but mainly in the horizontal direction (guided).
- the light diffuses in the width direction of the light body. Since the light diffuses immediately after entering the end face, the light also enters the reflection step existing near the end face of the light guide. As a result, the exit face near the end face can also emit light.
- the radius of curvature of the arc-shaped cross section is smaller in the diffusion steps 14a and 14b located in the center of the end face 10a than in the diffusion steps 12a and 12b located outside the end face 10a. Is formed.
- the diffusion steps 14a and 14b located at the center of the end face 10a have higher incident light intensity than the diffusion steps 12a and 12b located outside the end face. . Therefore, by reducing the radius of curvature of the central diffusion steps 14a and 14b so that the incident light is diffused more, the difference in light and darkness in the extending direction on the exit surface of the light guide can be reduced.
- the regularity of light reflection inside the light guide is reduced, so that the light-dark difference in the extending direction on the exit surface of the light guide is further reduced.
- the light rays diffused in the respective diffusion steps intersect each other in the vicinity of the boundary between the adjacent diffusion steps (see C1 and C2 in FIG. 2).
- the boundary between adjacent diffusion steps is an acute angle.
- the boundary between the diffusion steps is slightly rounded due to the limit of processing accuracy, so that the light beam near the boundary between the diffusion steps. It is considered that the diffusion angle of is further increased.
- FIG. 4 shows still another embodiment of the end face of the light guide.
- a plurality of diffusion steps 12a, 12b, 16a, and 16b are provided on the end surface 10a of the light guide 10.
- the outer diffusion steps 12a, 12b are similar to those of FIG.
- the center diffusion steps 16a and 16b have the same curvature radius as the diffusion steps 12a and 12b, but are formed so as to be inclined toward the front side of the vehicle. Due to this inclination, a step wall 17a is formed between the lower end of the diffusion step 16a and the upper end of the diffusion step 16b, and a step wall 17b is formed between the lower end of the diffusion step 16b and the upper end of the diffusion step 12b.
- stepped walls 17a and 17b are formed such that the direct light traveling from the light source 20 to each stepped wall and the stepped walls are substantially in the same straight line in the horizontal cross section. By doing so, it is possible to suppress a decrease in incident light due to being blocked by the step wall.
- the configuration of the end face as shown in FIG. 4 is that the end face configuration of FIG. 2 cannot sufficiently diffuse the light within the light guide, or because of the unique shape of the light guide, This is effective when there is a difference between light and dark. What is necessary is just to adjust suitably the inclination
- FIG. 5 shows still another embodiment of the end face of the light guide. Also in this embodiment, a plurality of diffusion steps 12a, 12b, 18a, 18b are provided on the end face 10a of the light guide 10.
- the outer diffusion steps 12a, 12b are similar to those of FIG. In the center diffusion steps 18a and 18b, the bottoms of the concave arcuate surfaces are recessed deeper than the diffusion steps 12a and 12b.
- These diffusion steps 18a and 18b are designed so that the same effect as the diffusion steps 16a and 16b having the step walls 17a and 17b shown in FIG. 4 can be realized by a single curved surface.
- the boundary between adjacent diffusion steps is an acute angle.
- the boundary between the diffusion steps is slightly rounded due to the limit of processing accuracy. It is considered that the diffusion angle of is further increased.
- a plurality of diffusion steps extending in the same shape in the vertical direction are provided on the end face of the light guide when cut in the horizontal direction.
- these diffusion steps it is possible to suppress the diffusion of light in the vertical direction while diffusing the light in the horizontal direction of the light guide.
- the exit face can be illuminated from the very vicinity of the end face.
- the shape of the diffusion step formed on the end face different, the regularity of the light guided in the end face can be suppressed, and the light / dark difference on the exit face can be reduced.
- the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and various modifications such as design changes can be added based on the knowledge of those skilled in the art.
- the configuration shown in each figure is for explaining an example, and any configuration that can achieve the same function can be changed as appropriate, and the same effect can be obtained.
- the arcuate diffusion step having a concave cross section is provided on the end face of the light guide.
- one or more of these diffusion steps may be convex arcuate steps.
- the difference in brightness can be similarly reduced by adjusting the shape of the step in accordance with the difference in brightness of the light emitting surface of the light guide.
- the vehicle lamp disposed at the front of the vehicle has been described.
- the vehicle lamp may be disposed at the rear of the vehicle and used as a tail lamp, a stop lamp, or the like.
- 10 light guide 10a end face, 10b exit surface, 10c reflection step, 12a, 12b, 14a, 14b, 16a, 16b, 18a, 18b diffusion step, 17a, 17b step wall, 20 light source, 30 outer cover, 100 for vehicle Light fixture.
- the present invention in a vehicle lamp using a light guide, it is possible to suppress diffusion of light in the vertical direction while diffusing light in the horizontal direction of the light guide.
