- the depth indicates the number of times the coding unit is spatially divided from the maximum coding unit, and as the depth increases, the coding unit for each depth may be split from the maximum coding unit to the minimum coding unit.
- the depth of the largest coding unit is the highest depth and the minimum coding unit may be defined as the lowest coding unit.

- a picture stored in the DPB 1620 may be identified according to information for identifying a layer or a view of a picture as well as a frame number and a POC value.
- the video decoder 1610 may construct a reference picture list.
- the video decoder 1610 may predictively decode the current picture based on the reference pictures identified in the reference picture list.
- the reference picture list may be used to reduce reference picture information transmitted in units of prediction units (PUs) by using a reference picture index.
- a maximum of two reference picture lists may be used according to the slice type, and information for distinguishing two lists (reference picture list 0 and reference picture list 1) may be transmitted through the reference picture set.
- one reference picture list may be configured for a P slice or some B slices that perform uni-directional prediction.
- two reference picture lists may be configured for the B slice that performs bi-directional prediction.
- the picture decoded by the video decoder 1610 may be stored in the DPB 1620, and when the decoded picture is first stored in the DPB 1620, the DPB controller 1630 defaults to
- the decoded picture can be marked as a short-term reference picture.
- a picture marked as a short-term reference picture may be marked as a long-term reference picture or an unused for reference picture based on the RPS information included in a slice header of a picture to be subsequently decoded. .
- a picture encoded through inter-layer prediction may be predicted by referring to a picture of another layer that is previously encoded and then reconstructed.
- the first layer picture is first decoded and stored in the DPB 1620, and the DPB controller 1630 marks the first layer picture as a short-term reference picture by default.
- the second layer picture having the same POC as the first layer picture is interlayer predicted with reference to the first layer picture
- a reference to the first layer picture stored in the DPB 1620 is attempted to decode the second layer picture.
- the DPB controller 1630 marks the first layer picture marked as the short-term reference picture as the long-term reference picture based on the interlayer RPS information of the second layer picture.
- the inter-layer RPS information may include layer identification information of a reference layer of a picture having the same POC value decoded after the second layer picture or the second layer picture.
- Pictures stored in the DPB 1620 may be marked according to the interlayer RPS information.
- the DPB control unit 1630 includes information about reference pictures of pictures decoded after the second layer picture and the second layer picture from the slice header of the second layer picture before decoding the second layer picture. Acquire interlayer RPS information.
- the DPB controller 1630 may mark a first layer picture marked as a short-term reference picture and stored in the DPB 1620 as a long-term reference picture based on interlayer RPS information of a picture of another layer having the same POC value. That is, when the first layer picture is used as a reference picture in interlayer prediction of another layer picture, the DPB controller 1630 may change the reference state of the first layer picture from the short term reference state to the long term reference state.
- the DPB controller 1630 may obtain information indicating whether the DPB controller 1630 is used as a reference picture in inter-layer prediction of the first layer picture.
- the information indicating whether to be used as a reference picture in inter layer prediction may include a flag (InterlayerPredictionFlag) indicating whether the picture of each layer is referenced in inter layer prediction of pictures of another layer.
- the DPB controller 1630 may mark a long-term reference picture when the first layer picture is decoded based on information indicating whether the first layer picture is used as a reference picture in inter-layer prediction of the first layer picture. For example, when the InterlayerPredictionFlag value for the first layer picture is 1, the DPB controller 1630 determines that the reference state of the first layer picture is a long-term reference state when the first layer picture is decoded and stored in the DPB 1620. Can be marked The first layer picture marked with the long-term reference state may be marked as a short-term reference picture when all the encoded pictures of the current access unit are decoded.
- a flag (InterlayerPredictionFlag) indicating whether the first layer picture is referenced when inter layer prediction of pictures of another layer is referenced may be determined based on at least one of image quality and temporal identification information TemporalId of the first layer picture.
- the InterlayerPredictionFlag may obtain a value of 1 when the TemporalId value of the first layer picture is equal to or smaller than a predetermined reference value (max_tid_il_ref_pic_plus1-1 or max_sublayer_for_ilp_plus1-1).
- a predetermined reference value max_tid_il_ref_pic_plus1-1 or max_sublayer_for_ilp_plus1-1
- the predetermined reference value (max_tid_il_ref_pic_plus1 or max_sublayer_for_ilp_plus1) has a value of 0,
- InterlagPrediction may be Flagiction.
- the temporal identification value TemporalId may be a hierarchical value indicating pictures that may be used for encoding or decoding a current picture.
- a picture having a specific temporal identification value may be used as a reference picture of a picture having a temporal identification value that is equal to or greater than the temporal identification value of the picture.
- a picture having a temporal identification value of 1 may be used as a reference picture of a picture having a temporal identification value of 1, 2, 3, or the like.
- a picture having a temporal identification value of 1 cannot be used as a reference picture of a picture having a temporal identification value of 0.
- a low value temporal identification value may mean a low display rate.
- the display rate may be 7.5 pictures per second.
- the display ratio may be 15 pictures per second.
- the reference picture set for the current picture may not include pictures having a higher temporal identification value than the current picture so that a picture below a specific temporal identification value may be decoded according to temporal uplink switching.
- the TemporalId of the first layer picture may include a temporal identification value to which the first layer picture belongs.
- a picture having a value of 0 in an InterlayerPredictionFlag of a decoded picture that is not marked as 'unreferenced' is larger than a reference value and may be marked as 'unreferenced'.
- a picture with a large TemporalId value is preferably not referred to because of low quality or low importance, but may not be marked as 'unreferenced' because it may be referred to in an upper layer.
- InterlayerPredictionFlag is 0, since the picture corresponds to a picture that is not referenced between layers according to interlayer prediction, the picture may be directly marked as 'unreferenced' and thus deleted from the DPB. Therefore, the DPB size can be minimized in that the picture can be deleted before the RPS information of the next decoded picture is obtained.
- the reason why the first layer picture marked as the short-term reference picture is changed to the long-term reference picture when used as the reference picture in inter-layer prediction by default is a predictive motion when using the picture marked as the short-term reference picture as the reference picture.
- This is because an error occurs in scaling the vector based on the POC difference. For example, if the predicted motion vector is mvp, the POC of the current picture is POC1, and the POC of the short-term reference picture is POC2, the motion vector of the current picture referring to the short-term reference picture is POC as (mvp / (POC1-POC2)). Obtained through scaling including division process using difference values.
- the video decoder 1610 reconstructs the second layer picture by performing interlayer prediction on the second layer picture with reference to the first layer picture marked as the long-term reference picture. After the second layer picture is decoded, the video decoder 1610 may remark the first layer picture marked as the long term reference picture as the short term reference picture. Therefore, after the reference state of the first layer picture marked as the short-term reference picture is updated when POCs belonging to the next access unit are decoded, the first layer picture may be referenced by pictures with different POCs. .
- the first layer picture marked as the long-term reference picture is reconstructed as a short-term reference picture after the second layer picture is reconstructed according to whether the second layer to which the second layer picture belongs is a base layer.
- Can be marked. Whether the second layer is the base layer may be determined depending on whether nuh_layer_id of the second layer picture has a value greater than zero. That is, when the second layer picture other than the base layer is decoded by interlayer prediction with reference to the first layer picture marked as the long-term reference picture, the first layer picture may be marked again as a short-term reference picture. Since the interlayer prediction is not performed on the picture of the base layer, the first layer picture used as the reference picture when the second layer picture other than the base layer is used as the reference picture in the interlayer prediction may be remarked as a short-term reference picture.
- the marking of the first layer picture used as the reference picture as the short-term reference picture in the long-term reference picture is not used as the long-term reference picture or the reference picture based on the RPS information obtained from the slice header of another picture.
- a picture belonging to the current access unit may not be marked as a short-term reference picture in the long-term reference picture based on the RPS information obtained from the slice header of the picture belonging to the other access unit, so that the picture is marked based on the RPS information.
- the first layer picture may be marked as a short-term reference picture.
- the short-term reference picture is marked as a long-term reference picture in the short-term reference picture, and the short-term reference picture is in the long-term reference picture after the picture is decoded. Marking process may be performed repeatedly.
- the DPB controller 1630 may mark the first layer picture as a long-term reference picture. have.
- the DPB controller 1630 includes the first layer picture in the interlayer RPS information of one or more pictures belonging to the same access unit, or the interlayer prediction of another picture belonging to the same access unit with respect to the first layer picture.
- the first layer picture may be marked as a long-term reference picture according to information (InterlayerPredictionFlag) indicating whether it is used as a reference picture.
- the DPB controller 1630 may mark the first layer picture as a short-term reference picture from the long-term reference picture after at least one picture belonging to the same access unit except for the first layer picture is decoded. For example, the DPB controller 1630 may mark the first layer picture from the long-term reference picture to the short-term reference picture after all pictures belonging to the same access unit are decoded.
- the process of marking the first layer picture from the short-term reference picture to the long-term reference picture according to the inter-layer RPS information, and marking the picture from the long-term reference picture to the short-term reference picture after decoding the picture may be marked as a long-term reference picture by default. That is, when a picture decoded by the video decoder 1610 is first stored in the DPB 1620, the DPB controller 1630 may mark the decoded picture as a long-term reference picture instead of a short-term reference picture by default.
- Pictures of other layers having the same POC as the first layer picture marked as the long-term reference picture may be inter-layer predicted with reference to the first layer picture according to the information about the reference picture.
- the first layer picture marked as the long-term reference picture is to be marked as not used as a short-term reference picture or a reference picture based on the RPS information of the slice header having a different POC or belonging to another access unit than the first layer picture. Can be.
