- washing machines On the one hand washing machines, at least those for home use, are almost exclusively arranged for washing linen, clothes of various articles.
- Such washing machines have a perforated basket, inserted and rotating inside a tub, intended for receiving clothes in bulk during a washing cycle, a rinsing cycle, and final spin.
- the basket is rotationally driven by a motor apparatus through a belt drive or similar.
- a motor apparatus Through some steps of the washing cycle itself it rotates with reciprocating motion; in other cycle steps, as during the spinning, the rotation thereof is unidirectional, clockwise or anticlockwise.
- Those machines can be of different type and provided with front- or top- loading systems, small basins for supplying and measuring out detergent and/ or other products as well as means for programming and selecting different washing cycles.
- clothes tend to wrinkle and once the latter are washed and, in case, spin-dried for their squeezing, they must be unloaded and stretched on a clothes horse for their drying, before a final ironing could be implemented by an iron use.
- So called washer-dryers are known as well, in which clothes are dried with hot air intake after their washing, but any way they have to be revived and ironed subsequently .
- the same Applicant proposed an innovative washing machine designed to carry out a number of functions, such as removing, washing, drying and ironing clothes of different type in succession, without having to take them away from the machine and the need of reviving them between one operation and the subsequent and then with the advantage of not having to use clothes horse and irons with evident time and work savings.
- 2209936 Bl essentially comprises a body or casing delimiting a treating chamber hermetically closable and provided with means for hanging up clothes to be treated, means for washing and rinsing with a fluid supply, means for drying and ironing said clothes while the latter are hung up in said treating chamber, said means for hanging up articles to be washed having different dimensions to support clothes of various sizes and to keep each of them both hung up and strained so that its front part is separated from the rear part.
- the washing fluid can be water or other fluid for the dry cleaning, and in the body or casing at least one compartment is provided, the latter hosting equipments for supplying, distributing and evacuating the washing fluid, for loading and distributing a detergent if necessary, for heating the washing fluid, as well as a hot air generator for drying and ironing clothes and control instruments.
- the washing fluid is supplied through at least one spraying bar provided with nozzles or nozzle clusters designed to spray the fluid towards the clothes to be treated.
- the spraying bar can be horizontal or else vertical and movable with respect to the hung and strained clothes in the treating chamber and at least one nozzle being revolving for a rotating spray of fluid at the level of specific parts, in particular neck and/ or cuffs if a garment, of a cloth to be washed.
- the machine can be provided with means for pointing and stopping selectively at least some jets of fluid washing at some parts of clothes to be washed or else for locally delivering a stain removing fluid on specific parts thereof.
- object of the present invention is to provide an equipment for washing linen with a number of functions, in which features and performances are assembled of both a washing machine in which clothes to be washed are hung up and strained on supporting means, washed by jets of treating fluid and after dried and ironed, without their removal from the respective supporting means, and a conventional washing machine with rotating basket.
- Another object of the invention is then to provide an equipment for two different washing modes for linen and various clothes according to needs and practical convenience :
- an equipment for washing linen comprising, inside the same body or casing, a first washing unit corresponding to Patent EP 2 209 936 Bl, and a second washing unit as an equipment for washing linen of the rotating basket type.
- the rotating basket is inserted in a corresponding tub which can be filled with washing liquid; in this way the basket remains partially dipped in the washing liquid during its own operation.
- the tub is in its turn inserted into the body or casing of the first washing unit.
- the first unit and the second unit can be provided with a common or separated system for supplying and evacuating a washing fluid, as well as common or distinguished means for measuring out and supplying detergents.
- the two equipment units can be arranged and programmed for their selective, independent or else simultaneous use too.
- the programming means shall be separated in each unit or integrated in only one control panel .
- the herein proposed equipment comprises, in a body or casing 11, a first 10 and a second 20 washing unit .
- the first washing unit 10 has a treating chamber 12 delimited by the body or casing 11 and having, at least at front, an access opening which can be closed hermetically by means of at least one door which can be transparent or not in order to be able to detect areas for a selective stain removal or wash and to follow every washing cycle.
- At least one compartment 13 is provided to host equipments - not depicted - necessary for the equipment operation, including at least one tub connected to the feeding system of fresh water and to a drain of dirty washing water; at least one small basin for detergent and other additional products; a water heating system; a water circulating pump; a hot air generator and control instruments.
- hangers or models 15 for hanging up clothes 14 to be treated.
- hangers or models 15 can be disassembled and arranged to have different sizes, so that they can be inserted easily into the cloth, adapted for sustaining garments with different sizes and, most of all, able to hold the cloth hung up and strained and with the front parts thereof separated and spaced out from the rear parts to aid both its washing and subsequent drying.
- one or more spraying bars 16 are arranged, which carry a plurality of nozzles 16' designed to produce fluid sprays, both for washing and rinsing, facing towards the clothes to be treated.
- the spraying bar/s 16 can be horizontal and movable in height relatively to clothes 14 arranged in the treating chamber 12, or else vertical and movable according to the body or casing width.
- the spraying bar/s can be fed with washing fluid through flexible pipes, and the water sprays may have a variable and adjustable pressure based on textiles to be washed. Further, all or at least some of the nozzles of each spraying bar, could be also rotating to further increase the washing effectiveness.
- Nozzles 16' on each bar 16 can be arranged in clusters and fed with the washing fluid in order to use selectively and specifically the nozzles of each cluster independently from nozzles of every other clusters.
- one or more rotating spraying nozzles 18, 18' can be provided, flush with and directing onto the dirtiest parts, in particular the neck and/ or cuffs, of garments to be washed.
- the second washing unit 20 of the equipment is arranged too in the body or casing 11.
- this second unit 20 comprises a perforated basket 21 assembled and rotating inside a tub 22, designed to receive clothes during every washing, rinsing and final spinning cycle.
- the basket which can be selected with a desired capacity, is rotationally driven by a motor apparatus - not depicted but known per se-, and it can be accessed from a front window 23 or through an upper opening as in a conventional washing machine.
- means for delivering fluid jets inside the basket can be combined therewith.
- the tub 22, in which the basket 21 operates can be part, or integrated with, the tub 13 of the first washing unit 10. In any case it can be connected to its own feeding and draining circuit and provided with small basins for measuring detergent and other additional products. Alternatively, the washing and rinsing fluid can be fed to and drained from the tub 22 of the second washing unit 20 making use of the same feeding and draining means of the washing fluid of the first washing unit 10.
- the so-arranged equipment for washing linen can be programmed electronically for the use of its two units 10, 20 alternatively one to another or simultaneously and for its selection among more treating cycles with an appropriate washing fluid and detergent supply.
- a programming and managing system can be provided separated and dedicated for each unit 10, 20 of the equipment or else integrated in the same control panel.
- the programming can also be devised so that sprays of washing fluid remain pointed, stop and are moved longer on those areas which are thought to be dirtiest of the clothes to be washed. Then this allows to implement, directly in the machine, the stain removal of certain garment parts with a localized supply of appropriate fluids as well as a more intensive and targeted washing of some cloth parts through a selection of the position, number and pressure of fluid sprays operating from time to time and an appropriate movement of the bar/s with the spraying nozzles.
- the treating chamber 12 by the programming system, can be subdivided and mapped virtually in several areas managed by the programming system, and water sprays could be from time to time limited in their number and activated only onto one or some specific areas of the chamber, excluding the others. This in order to determine the area each cloth occupies and thereby to be able to point and wash also a single cloth placed in any one areas of the treating chamber without useless water, detergent and energy wastes.
- the clothes may be dried on the same first unit 10 with an intake of hot air coming from the respective generator and in case with the aid of an electric heater placed in the treating chamber.
- at least part of the rinsing fluid can be held in the tub of the first unit 10 and the drying air can be led to brush such a fluid to aid the condensation of the humidity it is carrying.
- the ironing of clothes is carried out during their drying, aided by the fact that they are already held hung and stretch, as well as in shape, during the washing and that the same air flows during the drying will tend to stretch the textiles, on the other hand already stretched by the washing fluid, eliminating all remaining pleats.
- the second washing unit 20 of the afore described equipment can be used as a conventional washing machine in which clothes to be washed are placed in bulk in the basket and which, as the washing cycle ends, are taken for their drying to be carried out in air, or better, in the specific case of this equipment, inside the treating chamber 12 of the first unit 10 where the washed clothes could be hung up and exposed to a hot air flow.
