Description

Terminal fitting
The present invention relates to a terminal fitting that is locked to a lance provided in a connector housing so as to be elastically deformable and is attached to a terminal accommodating chamber.
In order to increase the holding force of the terminal fitting, it is only necessary to increase the lance engagement margin with respect to the hole edge front portion of the engagement hole by increasing the width dimension of the lance. However, some terminal fittings are provided with a stabilizer for stabilizing the posture of the terminal fitting at the rear end of the outer surface of the connecting portion, and the wide lance as described above is provided over the entire length direction. If they are formed with substantially the same width, the lance and the stabilizer may overlap each other and interfere with each other.
There is a connector disclosed in Patent Document 1, for example, in which such problems are eliminated. As shown in FIG. 8, a stabilizer 509 for guiding the insertion operation of the terminal fitting 507 through the insertion groove 505 provided on the inner wall of the cavity 503 protrudes from the outer surface of the connection portion 501 in this connector. On the lance 511 provided on the inner wall of the cavity 503, a to-be-locked surface 513 (not shown) provided on the connecting portion 501 and a hole edge front portion 515 (not shown) are provided over almost the entire width. A locking portion 517 that can be locked is provided, and a relief recess that allows the stabilizer 509 to enter by communicating with the insertion groove 505 at a portion behind the locking portion 517 and overlapping the locking portion 517 in the width direction. 519 is provided.
According to such a configuration, the lance 511 has a substantially entire width with respect to the locked portion (the locked surface 513 and the hole edge front portion 515 of the locking hole not shown) provided in the connection portion 501. Since the locking portion 517 is locked, the terminal holding force is increased and the structure is strong against shearing. On the other hand, the lance 511 is provided with a relief recess 519 that communicates with the insertion groove 505 and allows the stabilizer 509 to enter at a portion that is behind the locking portion 517 and overlaps the locking portion 517 in the width direction. Therefore, interference with the stabilizer 509 can be avoided. Further, since it is not necessary to increase the connecting portion 501 in the width direction in order to avoid interference, an increase in size of the connector can be avoided.
Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 2005-259363
In recent years, in a connector, a lance has a problem of a decrease in terminal holding force as the connector size is reduced. A reduction in the lance size means a decrease in the holding force as it is, so that both miniaturization and maintenance of the holding force are problems. In the conventional technique described above, the locking portion 517 of the lance 511 is locked over almost the entire width with respect to the locked portion provided in the connection portion 501 in response to a decrease in the lance holding force due to downsizing. Thus, the structure is strong against shearing, and the terminal holding force is increased.
However, even if a large locking area is secured, since the resin lance locks the locking hole of the metal terminal fitting at the locking portion between the terminal fitting and the lance, the edge of the locking hole is locked. If the edge at the end face is sharp, the edge bites into the lance, and there is a problem that the starting strength of shear fracture of the lance is greatly reduced.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a terminal fitting that can suppress an increase in shear fracture of a lance due to downsizing and can improve holding force.
The above object of the present invention is achieved by the following configuration.
(1) A terminal fitting that is locked to an elastically deformable lance provided in a terminal housing chamber formed in a connector housing and is mounted on the terminal housing chamber, A terminal fitting in which a biting resistance increasing portion for increasing the biting resistance to the lance is formed on a hole edge locking end surface.
According to the terminal fitting configured as described in (1) above, when the terminal fitting is inserted into a predetermined position of the terminal accommodating chamber, the elastically restored lance locks the locking hole of the terminal fitting. As for the lance which locked the locking hole, the terminal locking surface contacts the hole edge locking end surface of the locking hole. When an external force in the pulling direction acts on the locked terminal fitting, the hole edge locking end surface presses the terminal locking surface of the lance. At this time, since the biting resistance increasing portion is formed on the hole edge locking end surface, the resistance force when the hole edge locking end surface bites into the lance increases. In addition, even after biting, the biting resistance increasing portion increases the resistance in such a shape as to scratch the shearing surface, and the surface area of shearing can be increased.
Hereinafter, a terminal fitting according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
As shown in FIGS. 1A to 2B, the terminal fitting 15 according to the present embodiment includes a male terminal fitting 21 (see FIG. 3A) or a female terminal fitting 23 (FIG. 3B). Any of the above may be used. However, any terminal fitting 15 is required to have a locking hole 27 for locking the lance 25.
As shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B, the connector 29 to which the terminal fitting 15 is attached has a male connector of a mating connector (not shown) on one end surface of the connector housing 17 formed in a rectangular parallelepiped. A terminal receiving port 19 for receiving a terminal is opened. The terminal receiving port 19 communicates with a terminal accommodating chamber 31 defined inside the connector housing 17. In this specification, for convenience of explanation, the terminal receiving port 19 of the connector 29 is referred to as the front, and the opposite side is referred to as the rear.
The female terminal fitting 15 is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber 31 from a terminal mounting opening 33 that opens at the rear part of the connector housing 17. The female terminal fitting 15 is an example, and the terminal fitting 15 may be a male type. A lance 25 projects into the space in which the terminal fitting 15 is mounted. The lance 25 is formed integrally with the connector housing 17 by a synthetic resin material. The lance 25 whose base end is connected to the bottom wall 35 has a free end 37 at the tip. The base end of the lance 25 is cantilevered by the bottom wall 35 and can be elastically deformed. A evacuation space 31 a is formed below the lance 25 between the lance 25 and the bottom wall 35.
The lance 25 has a convex portion 39 formed on the upper surface in the vicinity of the free end 37. As for the convex part 39, the rear part becomes the inclined surface 41 and the front part becomes the locking part 43. When the terminal fitting 15 is inserted, the inclined surface 41 hits the tip 45 of the electrical contact portion of the terminal fitting 15 and generates a component force that pushes the lance 25 down to the retreat space 31a. When the lance 25 returns elastically and returns to its original position, the locking portion 43 locks the locking hole 27 of the terminal fitting 15 and restricts the terminal fitting 15 from being released rearward.
The male terminal fitting 21 shown in FIG. 3 (a) has a male tab 49 which is an electrical contact portion 47 at the tip, and a terminal main body portion 51, a conductor crimping portion 53, a jacket holding portion 55, and a rear portion thereof. Are successively connected. The male terminal fitting 21 is made by sheet metal processing a metal plate.
The female terminal fitting 23 shown in FIG. 3 (b) has a box portion 57 which is an electric contact portion 47 for receiving a male tab of a mating terminal at the tip, and a contact spring portion 59 (in contact with the male tab) (inside thereof) 5 (a) and 5 (b)). As with the male terminal fitting 21, a terminal main body 51, a conductor crimping portion 53, and a jacket holding portion 55 are sequentially provided behind the box portion 57.
The terminal main body 51 of the male terminal fitting 21 and the female terminal fitting 23 is formed with a locking hole 27 that is locked to the lance 25. The locking hole 27 is formed in a rectangular shape as shown in FIGS. 3 (a) and 3 (b). The front side of the locking hole 27 is the hole edge locking end surface 11. FIGS. 1A and 1B show the hole edge locking end surface 11 as a representative example of the female terminal fitting 23. FIG. 1A and FIG. 1B are cross-sectional views of the front side of the female terminal fitting 23 when the substantially central portion of the locking hole 27 is cut. That is, the hole edge locking end surface 11 is viewed from the inside of the locking hole 27. The hole edge locking end surface 11 is formed with a biting resistance increasing portion 61 that increases the biting resistance to the lance 25 instead of the flat shape of the comparative example shown in FIG.
In the present embodiment, the biting resistance increasing portion 61 is formed as a corrugated portion 13 formed by partially crushing the hole edge locking end surface 11. The wave shape portion 13 may be formed only on the upper portion of the hole edge locking end surface 11 as shown in FIG. 1A, and as shown in FIG. It may be formed on both sides. The direction in which the hole edge locking end surface 11 is crushed is the direction in which the hole edge locking end surface 11 is sandwiched from above and below (the vertical direction in FIGS. 1A and 1B), and the hole edge engagement from the inside of the locking hole 27. The vertical direction toward the toe surface 11 (the left direction in FIGS. 4B and 5B) can be used.
In FIGS. 1A and 1B, the semicircular bulge formed at the lower portion of the hole edge locking end surface 11 is in contact with the male tab of the mating terminal in the contact spring portion 59. An indent that acts to increase pressure.
In the present embodiment, the biting resistance increasing portion 61 becomes the corrugated portion 13 formed by partially crushing the hole edge locking end surface 11, and the biting resistance that increases the biting resistance to the lance 25 and the shearing resistance. The increase part 61 can be easily formed.
Next, the operation of the terminal fitting 15 having the above configuration will be described.
When the terminal fitting 15 is inserted into a predetermined position of the terminal accommodating chamber 31, the elastically restored lance 25 locks the locking hole 27 of the terminal fitting 15. In the lance 25 that locks the locking hole 27, the locking portion 43 contacts the hole edge locking end surface 11 of the locking hole 27. When an external force in the pulling direction acts on the terminal fitting 15 that has been locked, the hole edge locking end surface 11 presses the locking portion 43 of the lance 25.
That is, the lance 25 receives a reaction force from the hole edge locking end surface 11. At this time, in the flat hole edge locking end surface 11 as in the terminal fitting of the comparative example shown in FIG. 6, shearing starts at the corner 63 of the flat peripheral edge.
In the terminal fitting 15 according to the present embodiment, since the biting resistance increasing portion 61 is formed on the hole edge locking end surface 11, the resistance force when the hole edge locking end surface 11 bites into the lance 25 is increased. In addition, even after biting in, the biting resistance increasing portion 61 increases the resistance in such a shape as to scratch the shearing surface, and the surface area of shearing can be increased. Thereby, a shearing resistance can be increased and the holding force of the terminal metal fitting 15 can be increased.
Next, another embodiment of the terminal fitting 15 according to the present invention will be described.
As shown in FIG. 7A and FIG. 7B, the terminal fitting 15A according to another embodiment has a sharp end surface (that is, the corner 63) in order to increase the resistance when biting into the lance 25. By losing it, the resistance is increased. That is, the biting resistance increasing portion 61 according to this example is an R attaching portion 65 formed by removing the corner portion 63 on the locking side of the hole edge locking end surface 11.
In this terminal fitting 15A, by forming the R-attached portion 65 on the hole edge locking end surface 11, the corner 63 on the locking side of the unprocessed hole edge locking end surface 11 is removed and at the same time the R-attached portion 65 is formed. It is possible to remove the corner portion 63 that promotes bite property, and to suppress the ease of bite and the possibility of shear fracture.
Therefore, according to the terminal fittings 15 and 15A according to the present embodiment, it is possible to suppress the increase in shear fracture of the lance 25 due to downsizing and improve the holding force.
In addition, embodiment mentioned above only showed the typical form of this invention, and this invention is not limited to embodiment. That is, various modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
This application is based on a Japanese patent application (Japanese Patent Application No. 2010-188560) filed on August 25, 2010, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
As described above, according to the terminal fitting according to the present invention, it is possible to suppress the increase in shear fracture of the lance due to downsizing and improve the holding force.
