Abstract
A fuel cell comprises a bipolar plate (1) or a stack (7) of a plurality of bipolar plates (1). The bipolar plate or plates has or have side cooling fins (2), in which cooling channels (9) are arranged. In the case of a stack (7), at least one seal (6) is arranged between the bipolar plates (1). The cooling fins (2), the cooling channels (9) and/or the seal (6) have/has a configuration which is matched to the heat distribution within the bipolar plate (1) and/or within the stack (7) and/or increases the stability.
