Description
ASSEMBLY PARTICULARLY FOR MACHINES FOR PACKAGING ROLLS OF TISSUE-TYPE PAPER
Technical field
The present invention relates to an assembly particularly for machines for packaging rolls of tissue-type paper.
Background Art
In the field of packaging machines, particularly for rolls of paper of the tissue type (for example absorbent paper or toilet paper), machines are widespread which are capable of packing a predefined number of rolls, typically arranged according to the configuration with multiple rows and layers that is usually sold to the end consumer.
These machines therefore have two auxiliary supply lines, one for the rolls and one for the film of polymeric material with which they are to be wrapped, controlled by a main line along which the various steps of the wrapping cycle are carried out.
In order to allow the machine to adapt to the variations in format of the rolls and/or of the grouping of rolls to be processed, it must be possible to vary the configuration of the members assigned for the movement and treatment of the products. This result is achieved by moving appropriately the various members with respect to a fixed reference, known as fixed side.
According to known constructive solutions, the main line has a central fixed side, i.e., the adjustments of the members of the machine that must be reconfigured at each format change occur by moving the various elements symmetrically with respect to the centerline of said main line and of the packs.
It should also be noted that the members of the above cited auxiliary lines, typically arranged at the sides of the main line, are functionally associated with the machine members of the main line. Therefore, the components of the auxiliary lines also must be reconfigured in order to adapt to the movements that involve all the members of the machine of the
main line.
The drawback of this solution is therefore that in order to allow the packaging of rolls and packs in a wide range of sizes, a large amount of adjustments is required, with negative results on the productivity that can be reached by the machine and with a considerable expenditure of time and energy on the part of specialized technicians.
Disclosure of the Invention
The aim of the present invention is to solve the problems described above, by providing an assembly whose members can be adjusted easily to adapt to the changes of format of the product to be handled.
Within this aim, an object of the invention is to provide an assembly that has a low number of components, with consequent cost containment.
Another object of the invention is to provide an assembly in which access to the main line by the operator assigned to line control is easy.
Another object of the invention is to provide an assembly that ensures high reliability in operation.
Another object of the invention is to provide an assembly that can be obtained easily starting from common commercially available elements and materials.
This aim and these objects are achieved by an assembly, particularly for machines for packaging rolls of tissue-type paper, which comprises means for the functional handling of products to be packaged along a main line, said functional handling means having at least two abutment elements that can be adjusted with respect to a reference in order to adapt to the formats of the products, characterized in that it comprise at least one abutment element that can move during the adjustment steps and at least one abutment element that is fixed during the adjustment steps, said fixed abutment element constituting said reference.
Brief description of the drawings
Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become
better apparent from the description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of the assembly according to the invention, illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a front elevation view of the assembly according to the invention in a first arrangement of the functional handling means;
Figure 2 is a plan view of the assembly according to the invention in a first arrangement of the functional handling means;
Figure 3 is a front elevation view of the assembly according to the invention in a second arrangement of the functional handling means;
Figure 4 is a plan view of the assembly according to the invention in a second arrangement of the functional handling means.
Ways of carrying out the Invention
With reference to the figures, an assembly according to the invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 1, comprises a frame 2, which supports means 3 for the functional handling of products 4 to be packaged along a main line 5.
The products 4 can consist of rolls composed of a cylindrical core on which a strip of paper of the tissue type, for example toilet paper or absorbent paper, is wound. Depending on the commercial requirements and therefore on the intended sale format, the product 4 can also consist of a group of rolls arranged variously according to multiple rows and/or layers.
The functional handling means 3 can simply consist of grip elements that are capable of drawing along the main line 5 one or more products 4, optionally defining at the same time their specific arrangement.
As an alternative, the functional handling means 3 comprised within the assembly 1 according to the invention can consist not only of the grip elements assigned for drawing the products 4 but also of one or more functional members 6, each of which is capable of performing one of the functions provided by the wrapping cycle.
In order to allow the assembly 1 to package rolls of different formats
and/or groups consisting of a variable number of rolls, the functional handling means 3 comprise at least two abutment elements A, B that can be adjusted with respect to a reference in order to adapt to the formats of the products 4.
For example, in relation to one possible constructive solution shown in Figures 2 and 4, the grip elements, which act along a portion of the path followed by the products 4, can consist of a pair of mutually opposite conveyor belts, which are capable of clamping the products 4 laterally.
According to this possible embodiment, which is a non-limiting illustration of the application of the invention, the above cited belts form two of said abutment elements A, B, which can move in order to vary their center distance and therefore the seat in which the products 4 are accommodated and clamped during traction. Accordingly, it is also possible to redefine the stroke of the movable parts of any other functional members 6 comprised within the assembly 1 and assigned for example to the heat- sealing of the folded flaps of the film.
According to the invention, the assembly 1 comprises at least one abutment element A, which can move during the adjustment steps that become necessary as a consequence of a change of format: the assembly 1 furthermore comprises at least one abutment element B, which is instead fixed during said adjustment steps and forms the above cited reference for the grip elements and/or for the functional members 6 of the assembly 1 that act on the lateral ends of the product 4.
In relation to the example cited above and to the accompanying Figures 2 and 4, a fixed abutment element B consists of one of the two conveyor belts, and therefore it is the other one that moves in order to adapt the seat for receiving the products 4 to the various formats.
Accordingly, the position of one side of the products 4 and of all those parts of the grip elements and/or of the functional members 6 that are functionally associated with said side of the products 4 remains
substantially unchanged by the adjustment steps.
It is therefore evident that this constructive solution allows a reduction of the adjustments that are necessary to allow the assembly 1 to adapt to a change of format of the products 4. One part of the grip elements and/or of the functional members 6 in fact does not require modifications, since the adjustment does not alter the positions assumed by one side of the product 4 during operation.
Conveniently, the abutment element B faces and is proximate to a side wall 2a of the frame 2. Accordingly, the grip elements and the functional members 6, as well as the products 4 themselves, are closer to said side wall 2a and to the outside: it is therefore easier for an operator to access them, for example for monitoring and maintenance tasks.
In order to feed the main line 5, the assembly 1 comprises a first auxiliary line 7, which is capable of picking up the products 4 from a feeder and delivering them to a receiving station 8, which is formed along the main line 5.
In particular, said first auxiliary line 7 is arranged substantially to the side of the main line 5 and leads directly to the side wall 2a of the frame 2 that is proximate to the fixed abutment element B. The components of the first auxiliary line 7 therefore also do not require adjustment as a consequence of changes of format of the products 4, since said components of the first auxiliary line 7 are functionally associated with the fixed abutment element B.
The entire first auxiliary line 7 can therefore have a structure that is distinctly simpler (and economically less onerous) than the assemblies of the background art, which must offer the possibility of adjustments and movements in order to follow the adjustments and movements of the various elements and members of the main line of known type.
According to a constructive solution of particular interest in practice, presented by way of non-limiting example of the application of the
invention, the assembly 1 according to the invention comprises a second auxiliary line 9, which leads to the main line 5, for example at the receiving station 8, in order to feed it with the film needed to package the products 4. Said second auxiliary line 9 is arranged laterally to the main line 5 on the side opposite to the first auxiliary line 7.
More particularly, the assembly 1 comprises a device 10 for drawing and cutting the film, which is arranged substantially along the second auxiliary line 9. In this manner it is possible to produce the convergence on the main line 5 of the film, which is cut appropriately for the implementation of packaging.
The device 10, like the entire second auxiliary line 9, is arranged on the side opposite to the abutment element B and is therefore functionally associated with the movable abutment element A; the adjustments of the grip elements and of the functional members 6, linked to a change of format, therefore involve also the device 10 itself, which must be able to be reconfigured in order to ensure the delivery of the film even after the adjustment and the consequent movement of the movable abutment element A.
According to one possible constructive solution, shown in the accompanying figures, the traction and cutting device 10 comprises a first series of fixed pulleys 1 1 , which are capable of drawing the film, unwinding it from the supply spool 12. The film is then picked up by a jockey member 13, which utilizes the movement of an oscillating roller 14a in order to allow compensation of the differences between the unwinding speed of the spool 12 and the speed of absorption of the film within the assembly 1. The device 10 then comprises fixed rollers 14b, which clamp the film while a rotary blade 15 performs the cutting action.
The cutting performed by the rotary blade 15 or by similar tools can be incomplete: as a consequence of this "pre-cut", two consecutive portions of film, to be sent to the main line 5, are thus still connected in some points
of the separation line, in order to allow traction during the subsequent steps as well, whereas for final cutting it is sufficient to have the action, for example, of two traction belts that can move at a different speeds and act on the two consecutive portions.
The portions thus provided are at this point destined to the folding elements which, arranged along the main line 45, are capable of defining the shape that is needed for the wrapping and packaging of the products 4; finally, the portion of film can be sent to the main line 5 by means of a further feeder member 16, which is comprised within the device 10.
The second auxiliary line 9 must be able to adapt to the adjustments due to the changes of format of the products 4: for example, the blade 15 can allow variations of its rotation rate for obtaining portions of different length; furthermore, the feeder member 16 is adjustable: the adjustment of said feeder member 16 makes it possible to vary the path imparted to the portions of film in order to adapt it to the altered positions of the abutment element A.
For example, said feeder member 16 can comprise a telescopic unit, the movement of which makes it possible to obtain the desired variation of the path imparted to the portions of film.
The operation of the assembly according to the invention is as follows.
If it is necessary to perform a change of format of the products 4 to be packaged, the assembly 1 allows an adjustment of the handling means 3 that is simplified with respect to the solutions of the background art. The choice to adopt a fixed abutment element B, so as to define said reference, in fact makes it possible to keep motionless, during said adjustment, all the parts that are functionally associated with said fixed abutment element B, whereas the other parts move with respect to it. In addition to the advantage in terms of simplification of the adjustment, the described choice also makes it possible to reduce the number and complexity of the components of the
assembly, with evident further benefits.
What has been noted is also valid for all the components of the first auxiliary line 7, which due to being arranged on the same side on which the fixed abutment element B is provided relate to fixed parts of the main line 5.
Finally, it should be noted that opting for a first auxiliary line 7 arranged at the side wall 2a of the frame 2 that is adjacent to the fixed abutment element B and a second auxiliary line 9 on the opposite side and not vice versa makes it possible to avoid further encumbering (in order to provide them with adjustment functions) of the very structure of the apparatuses, which are already complex and heavy in themselves and assigned to the handling of the rolls.
The devices assigned instead to traction of the film are in contrast structurally simpler and therefore providing them with means to adapt to the movements during adjustment, as described in detail in the above paragraphs, does not cause excessive structural complications.
In practice it has been found that the assembly according to the invention fully achieves the intended aim, since the particular constructive solution chosen, in which all the movements needed for the reconfiguration of the handling means, as a consequence of a change of format, occur with respect to an abutment element that can move with respect to a fixed abutment element, allows a significant reduction of necessary adjustments.
The invention thus conceived is susceptible to numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims; all the details may further be replaced by other technically equivalent elements.
In the exemplary embodiments shown, individual characteristics, given in relation to specific examples, may actually be replaced by other different characteristics that exist in other exemplary embodiments.
Moreover, it is noted that anything found to be already known during the patenting process is understood not to be claimed and to be the subject
of a disclaimer.
In practice, the materials used, as well as the dimensions, may be any according to the requirements and the state of the art.
Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly, such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the interpretation of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
