Description

MOBILE MICROPAYMENT TERMINAL HAVING ELECTRONIC RECEIPT FUNCTION AND PAYMENT METHOD USING THE SAME
The present invention relates to a mobile payment terminal, and more particularly, to a mobile micropayment terminal having an electronic receipt function and a payment method using the same.
According to the related art, a general function of a terminal for accessing a smart card (IC card) includes only a function for inputting/outputting data to/from the card. Accordingly, the development of various terminals for conveniently and easily performing micropayment in various transactions including traffic, distribution, culture and the like is insufficient.
A conventional mobile payment terminal employs a payment method of reading information stored in a magnetic strip so as to perform payment, outputting a receipt according to the payment result using a printer, and providing the receipt to a consumer. Accordingly, the conventional mobile payment terminal has the following inconvenience.
First, since a printer module for providing the receipt to the consumer is included, the volume of the payment terminal is large.
Second, the receipt is printed on paper and the receipt should be presented when the payment is desired to be canceled. However, when a predetermined time elapses and the paper receipts are lost, it is difficult to perform the cancellation process.
In addition, it is difficult to determine whether or not the payment process is normally performed using the payment terminal. For example, a social worker may perform a payment process without actually visiting a patient who receives the benefits of the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs. Accordingly, there is a need for a device for determining whether a payment process is performed in a state in which the social worker actually visits the patient.
An object of the present invention devised to solve the problem lies on a micropayment terminal capable of providing an electronic receipt to a consumer, and a payment method using the same.
Another object of the present invention devised to solve the problem lies on a micropayment terminal capable of solving a problem that the volume of the micropayment terminal is increased due to a printer module necessary for outputting paper receipts in a mobile payment terminal, and a payment method using the same.
Another object of the present invention devised to solve the problem lies on a micropayment terminal capable of checking whether or not an actual service is provided using a mobile payment terminal, and a payment method using the same.
A further object of the present invention devised to solve the problem lies on a micropayment terminal capable of providing position information such that a network server recognizes current position information of a mobile payment terminal, and a payment method using the same.
The object of the present invention can be achieved by providing an apparatus/device a micropayment terminal having an electronic receipt function includes a card recognizer configured to acquire card information of a consumer by any one of a contact method and a non-contact method according to a kind of a card of the consumer, an input unit configured to input a payment amount, a wireless transmission/reception unit including a mobile communication module for performing a communication function with a mobile communication base station and a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) module for accessing at least one network supporting a mobile payment service, a controller configured to execute a micropayment application by information exchange with a financial transaction server connected to the network based on the card information recognized by the card recognizer and the information input through the input unit and to transmit micropayment processing information obtained by executing the application, which includes approval information, in the form of an electronic receipt, a memory configured to store the payment processing information obtained by executing the application, and a touch screen configured to simultaneously perform an information display function for displaying information necessary for executing the application in the form recognized by a user and an information input function for receiving a signature of the user according to a control signal of the controller.
An electronic receipt which is the micropayment processing information may be provided to a mobile communication terminal of the consumer in the form of a multimedia service.
The micropayment terminal may further include a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver configured to receive current position information of the micropayment terminal from a satellite, and the controller may control the current position information of the micropayment terminal acquired through the GPS receiver to be transmitted to the financial transaction server of the network through the wireless transmission/reception unit.
The card recognizer may recognize a card in which entitlement information of the consumer is stored, instead of a financial transaction card, and extract personal information on the consumer.
In another aspect of the present invention, a payment method using a micropayment terminal includes displaying a payment amount, acquiring card information of a consumer by any one of a contact method and a non-contact method according to a kind of a card of the consumer, executing a micropayment application for transmitting the payment amount information and the card information of the consumer using a wireless transmission/reception unit to a financial transaction server connected to a network and receiving approval information, transmitting the approval information obtained by executing the micropayment application to a mobile communication terminal of the consumer in the form of an electronic receipt, and storing payment processing information obtained by executing the application.
The payment method may further include transmitting position information of a mobile communication terminal to the financial transaction server connected to the network using the wireless transmission/reception unit.
An electronic receipt which is the micropayment processing information may be provided to a mobile communication terminal of the consumer in the form of a multimedia service.
The effects of the micropayment terminal according to the present invention are as follows.
First, since the electronic receipt is provided, a configuration for outputting paper receipts is not required and thus the size of the terminal can be reduced.
Second, since the electronic receipt is provided to the mobile communication terminal of the user, inconvenience due to loss of the receipt can be solved.
Third, the current position of the user of the micropayment terminal can be checked.
Fourth, determination as to whether or not an actual service is provided can be performed using the mobile micropayment terminal.
The accompanying drawings, which are included to provide a further understanding of the invention, illustrate embodiments of the invention and together with the description serve to explain the principle of the invention.
In the drawings:
FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing the configuration of a micropayment terminal according to the present invention.
FIG. 2 is a flowchart illustrating a process of performing a micropayment method according to the present invention.
FIGs. 3A to 3E are diagrams showing a payment process using the micropayment terminal according to the present invention.
Reference will now be made in detail to the preferred embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
Hereinafter, the configuration and the operation of a micropayment terminal according to the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
The present invention relates to a mobile payment terminal. Accordingly, first, the kind of a card for performing payment using the mobile payment terminal will be described.
First, a card will be divided into a magnetic card and a smart card, as types of cards having a payment function.
In most cards including credit cards, cash cards or debit cards, which are currently widely used, simple information is stored in a magnetic strip adhered to a rear surface of the card in a magnetic manner. However, the amount of storable information is limited and, when the card is exposed to a strong magnetic field, the card is easily damaged. In addition, since a security function is not included, information may be easily leaked.
In general, the smart card which is similar to the credit card in size and shape is also called an Integrated Circuit (IC) card, because a semiconductor IC is mounted in the card. In the IC, a microprocessor such as a Central Processing Unit (CPU) of a computer, a card operating system, a memory and a security module are integrated. Due to the IC chip mounted in a thin card having a thickness of about 0.76 mm, the smart card can store a larger amount of information than the existing magnetic card, and exhibits excellent safety. Since the smart card can store a large amount of information such as user information, transaction information, or personal information such as an account number or a resident registration number in the memory, the smart card can be used not only as electronic money but also for various other purposes. The smart card is divided into a memory type card and a microprocessor built-in type card according to the kind of the built-in IC. The memory type card does not include a microprocessor but includes a memory. In addition, in the memory type card, a security function is included in the memory. The memory type card is used as a public telephone card or a data storage card.
In addition, the card is divided into a contact type card and a non-contact type card according to a method of reading data from the card. The contact type card refers to a card which is available when contact points are brought into contact with each other after inserting the card into a reader or a terminal. A voltage necessary for driving an IC circuit mounted in the card is supplied to the card or information is input to or output from the card through the contact points.
In contrast, in the non-contact type card, a terminal can read the content of the card when the card comes within a predetermined distance (10 cm) from the terminal, like a bus card. In the non-contact type card, since the voltage cannot be supplied from an external device, induced current is obtained using a coil mounted in the card. In addition, a simple wireless communication circuit for inputting/outputting data to/from the terminal is included.
In the contact type card, since the contact points are brought into contact with each other whenever the card is used, electrical impact may occur or the contact points may be damaged. In contrast, in the non-contact type card, manufacturing cost is higher than that of the contact type card. A card which is a combination of the contact type card and the non-contact type card is currently used. The micropayment terminal according to the present invention can recognize both the contact type card and the non-contact type card. Recently, with wide use of the non-contact type card, a terminal which can recognize only the non-contact type card may be implemented as another embodiment of the present invention. In this case, a mechanical configuration for recognizing the contact type card is only removed from the terminal, and the issue of an electronic receipt which is the basic concept of the present invention or a current position information transmission/reception function of the payment terminal is not limited.
Hereinafter, the embodiment of the present invention when a consumer performs payment using a non-contact type card will be described.
FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing the configuration of a micropayment terminal according to the present invention.
The micropayment terminal includes a card recognizer 110 for acquiring card information of a consumer by any one of a contact method and a non-contact method according to the kind of the card of the consumer, an input unit 120 for inputting a payment amount, a wireless transmission/reception unit 130 including a mobile communication module for performing a communication function with a mobile communication base station and a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) module for accessing at least one network supporting a mobile payment service, a controller 140 for executing a micropayment application by information exchange with a financial transaction server connected to the network based on the card information recognized by the card recognizer 110 and the information input through the input unit 120 and transmitting micropayment processing information obtained by executing the application, which includes approval information, in the form of an electronic receipt, a memory 150 for storing the payment processing information obtained by executing the application, and a touch screen 160 for simultaneously performing an information display function for displaying information necessary for executing the application in the form recognized by a user and an information input function for receiving a signature of the user according to a control signal of the controller 140.
FIG. 2 is a flowchart illustrating a process of performing a micropayment method according to the present invention, and FIGs. 3A to 3E are diagrams showing a payment process using the micropayment terminal according to the present invention.
First, as shown in FIG. 3A, a payment amount is displayed on a liquid crystal display device and preferably on the touch screen 160. If the payment amount is always constant like a newspaper price or an Internet fee, a payment amount display process may be omitted. However, the user of the terminal may input the payment amount with respect to a price for the delivery of milk or fast food or a service which is selectable by a consumer. The input of the payment amount may be performed by an input method using an input device such as a numeric keypad, a method of including a handwriting recognition function in a portion of the touch screen and inputting the payment amount in a handwritten manner, or a method of displaying numerals on the screen and inputting the payment amount in a touch screen manner (S201).
As shown in FIG. 3B, the card information is acquired from a card 10 presented by the consumer. At this time, the card information of the consumer is acquired by any one of the contact method and the non-contact method according to the kind of the card of the consumer. At this time, an available card may include a credit card or a traffic card (S202).
As shown in FIG. 3C, the payment amount information and the card information of the consumer are transmitted to the financial transaction server 200 connected to the network using the wireless transmission/reception unit. A communication network includes all kinds of networks supporting the mobile payment service, which are different in operating system or an application field but have a compatible protocol through a gateway, and includes a Local Area Network (LAN), a Wide Area Network (WAN), a Value Added Network (VAN), a mobile radio communication network, a wireless Internet network, or a satellite communication network.
At this time, unlike the payment terminal which has been generally used, the micropayment terminal according to the present invention transmits current position information of the terminal to a payment server, in order to prevent the user of the terminal from falsely performing the payment process without actually providing the service. In addition, since the current position information of the user of the micropayment terminal can be obtained, it is possible to check the service record of the user of the terminal or the desertion from a service area. In addition, if an emergency in which the user of the terminal is dispatched to a predetermined area occurs, as shown in FIG. 3D, it is possible to control the movement path of the user of the terminal by transmitting emergency information without making a telephone call to the user of the terminal to determine their current position.
At this time, a method of normally processing approval when the signature of the consumer is received may be used according to the payment amount. However, since the micropayment is performed in the present invention, a process of acquiring the signature will be omitted (S203).
After transmitting the payment information, a micropayment application for receiving approval information from the financial transaction server is executed (S204).
If a normal payment process is performed as the result of executing the micropayment application, the approval information is transmitted to the mobile communication terminal of the consumer in the form of the electronic receipt as shown in FIG. 3E (S205).
The payment processing information obtained by executing the application is stored in the memory 150 (S406).
Meanwhile, a well-known challenge-response technique is used as a method of performing mutual authentication between the payment terminal 100 and the smart card. At this time, a security algorithm stored in the memory 150 may be a symmetric algorithm for performing encryption or decryption by the same key between the smart card and the mobile communication terminal 100 according to the present invention or a public key algorithm for encrypting/decrypting data by an asymmetric key, that is, a key which is not mutually shared. Now, the challenge-response process will be described in brief. The mobile communication terminal 100 transmits a random number to the smart card through the card recognizer 110, and the smart card encrypts the random number by a symmetric key method or a public key method and retransmits the encrypted random number to the mobile communication terminal 100. The mobile communication terminal 100 decodes the encrypted random number received from the smart card, determines whether the decoded random number is the random number transmitted by the mobile communication terminal, and authenticates the smart card.
Accordingly, the consumer approaches his/her purse to the mobile communication terminal 100 without taking a smart card out of his/her purse so as to easily perform a financial payment process. Since the electronic receipt is received through the mobile communication terminal of the consumer, the normal payment process or the payment amount can be checked. Accordingly, it is possible to solve a problem which occurs due to the loss of the receipt of the consumer when the payment is desired to be corrected.
Various embodiments have been described in the best mode for carrying out the invention.
It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made in the present invention without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention. Thus, it is intended that the present invention cover the modifications and variations of this invention provided they come within the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents.
