Abstract

A security tag for persons is described, comprising a number of plate parts (10, 12) which can be folded in relation to each other, where information about the user is printed on, at least, the insides of the plate parts (10, 12) that face each other. Said information is personal, relevant medical information about the user which is engraved according to international codes for medical terminology, and between the plate parts (10, 12) a recess, slit, crack or the like (18) is provided for folding the plate parts towards each other, whereby the tag can only be opened once so that the user will be able to detect any unauthorised opening.

Description

SECURITY TAG
The present invention relates to a security tag for persons, comprising a number of plate parts that can be folded in relation to each other, where information about the user is engraved, at least, on the inside of the plate parts that face each other.
Security tags in the form of an identification token, identity token, identity disc, i.e. so-called "dog-tag" have been known for a long time, where the tokens show personal information on one of the sides, such as name, date of birth and blood type. It has not been common to equip these with further information. Use of tokens and appliances with domestic animals, especially dogs and cats, are known but there are none that display medical information about the carrier.
Also known is a travel insurance that calls itself "dog tag", and is shaped so that the token contains, on one side, name, personal identity number and a dedicated web address where medical information about the user is stored and can be found.
However, none of the known solutions provide direct information about the medical data of the user and cannot be read directly.
Furthermore, known from US 5,503,434 is a credit card that encompasses two parts which are hinged together. Printed on the inside of the plate parts that face each other is information about the card holder. Furthermore, from US 4,984,683 a medallion which is comprised of two parts which are hinged together and where a document containing medical information about the owner is placed on the inside, is known. From US 2003/0106336, it is known to engrave medical information onto a token of identification .
It is an object of the invention to provide a closed safety tag which persons that work in exposed branches can carry and which contains available medical information about the user. Examples of branches can be the military, sailors, offshore, etc., but also employees in less exposed branches can, of course, use the present tag.
The present invention concerns a security tag for persons, and which has as an object to be able to be opened only once. The user will be able to detect any unauthorised opening. It appears that US 5,503,434 shows a hinge, but the object of the hinge is that the credit card shall be able to be repeatedly opened and closed. This is contrary to the present invention. Consequently, the problem which is solved by the present invention does not appear in the mentioned documents and can not be developed from said documents either.
Said object is achieved with a security tag as defined in the independent claim 1, in that said information is personal, relevant medical information about the user which is engraved according to international codes for medical terminology and that between the plate parts, a recess, slit, break or the like is provided, for folding the plate parts towards each other, whereby the tag can only be opened once, so that the user will be able to detect an unauthorised opening.
Alternative preferred embodiments are characterised by the dependent claims 2-5.
The inside of the plate parts preferably comprises engraved medical information, for example, engraved with the help of a laser, so that the information can be read when the plate parts are unfolded in relation to each other. The medical information can contain information about the medical diagnosis, medication, allergy, next of kin, donor status, etc., of the user. The outside of the plate part can comprise the user' s date of birth and/or the international land code to which the user belongs.
In one variant the plate parts can, when in folded position, be set up to be locked together.
The invention shall now be described in more detail with the help of the enclosed figures, in which:
Figure 1 shows an embodiment of a safety tag according to the invention in an unfolded position shown by the unbroken lines and sidewise unfolding/folding with dotted lines.
Figure 2 shows the embodiment shown in figure 1 in a folded embodiment. Figures 3 and 4 show the embodiment shown in figures 1 and 2 in respective sections.
Figures 5 and 6 show a further embodiment of a security tag according to the invention in unfolded and folded positions respectively. Figures 7 and 8 show the embodiments shown in figures 5 and 6 in respective sections.
Figure 9 shows a variant of a folding/unfolding of the security tag.
A first embodiment is shown in the figures 1 to 4. As can be seen, the security tag can comprise two plate parts 10, 12 which are folded in a common point with the help of a connecting body 14, for example, a rivet, a pin, or the like. The parts 10, 12 can be unfolded in relation to each other. In this example, by sideways unfolding of the one plate part 10 in relation to the other plate part 12, or vice-versa, as shown by dotted lines in figure 1. The security tag is shown unfolded by the unbroken lines in figure 1. The plate parts can be made from a strong material, such as stainless steel, platinum, etc. Alternatively, the plate parts can also be made from rigid plastic or the like.
When the plate parts 10, 12 are folded, the respective openings 16a, 16b form an opening 16 that can be used to lock the plate parts together. This can be made with a suitable locking body, such as for example, a locking ring which can be fastened to a necklace (not shown) . Alternatively, the necklace can be fastened directly in the opening 16. Furthermore, the locking body can be formed such that it can only be opened once so that the user will discover whether the tag has been opened without authority.
On the outside, the plate parts 10, 12 can comprise, for example, the personal number of the user and/or the international country codes for the user, such as NO for Norway. Other relevant information about the user, also medical, can be placed on the outside of the plate parts.
Internally on the plate parts 10, 12, it is preferred that medical information about the user is placed. The inside of the plate part can comprise engraved medical information, for example, engraved with the help of a laser. When the plate parts 10, 12 are unfolded, the information is readable on either the one plate part or the other plate part or in combination of both plate parts .
The medical information preferably contains information about the medical diagnosis, medication, allergies, next of kin, donor status, etc, of the user, i.e. parts of or all medical information available about the user. The information can be engraved according to international codes for medical terminology such as, for example, in ICD 10 and/or ATC.
The figures 5 to 9 show another variant of a security tag according to the invention. In this variant, the plate parts can be unfolded in that the plate parts 10, 12 are set up to be folded out from, or in towards, each other. In this context, a groove, slit, break or the like 18 can be arranged between the plate parts 10, 12 so that said folding is made easier. Besides, the security tag contains corresponding information to that given above for the first variant. This variant is originally intended to be opened once only. If the tag is opened without authorisation, the user will thereby be able to detect it.

Claims

C L A I M S
1. Security tag for persons, comprising a number of plate parts (10, 12) which are foldable in relation to each other, where information about the user is printed, at least, on the inside of the plate parts (10, 12) that face each other, c h a r a c t e r i s e d i n that said information is personal, relevant medical information about the user which is engraved according to international codes for medical terminology, and that between the plate parts (10, 12) a groove, slit, break or the like (18) is provided for folding the plate parts towards each other, whereby the tag can only be opened once so that the user will be able to detect if an unauthorised opening of the tag has taken place.
2. Security tag according to claim 1, c h a r a c t e r i s e d i n that at least the inside of the plate parts (10, 12) comprises engraved medical information, engraved with the help of a laser, and that it is possible to read the information when the plate parts (10, 12) are unfolded in relation to each other.
3. Security tag according to claims 1 or 2, c h a r a c t e r i s e d i n that the medical information contains at least information about the medical diagnosis, medication, allergies, next of kin, and donor status of the user.
4. Security tag according to one or more of the claims 1-3, c h a r a c t e r i s e d i n that at least the outside of the plate parts (10, 12) comprises the user's personal number and/or the international code of the country of the user.
5. Security tag according to one or more of the claims 1-4, c h a r a c t e r i s e d i n that the plate parts (10, 12) when in a folded position are set up to be locked together .
