Description
Title: "CONCRETE MOLD"
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention refers to a concrete mold to be used in the field of civil construction and, more particularly, a concrete mold for construction of reinforced concrete parts.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Several models of concrete molds are available in the market, which differences reside in structure and material that would change the manufacture costs, number of reuses, weight and adaptability to different sizes of surfaces being built.
Examples of materials useful for said molds are aluminum, wood or plastic material.
An example of concrete mold in the prior art is described in EP Appli- cation 1 728 942 A1. Said EP Patent refers to a thermoplastic resin concrete mold for building a concrete structure comprising upper and lower layers and a partitioned intermediate layer connecting said surfaces. Said mold is also provided with rectangular-shaped reinforcement areas receiving bolts for fixing said mold. Such reinforcement areas have a rectangular shape for tightly receiving the bolt in order to avoid formation of a gap in this area, which would cause the mold to undesirably move.
Such mold disclosed in this EP Patent as well as others disclosed in the prior art has the disadvantage that it cannot adapt to any surface, once said molds possess predetermined sizes. In addition, the prior art fails to provide a con- crete mold comprising a fixation area so as to prevent the form from moving during its use.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention refers to a concrete mold comprising an alveolar intermediate layer having reinforcement areas of tapered structure and inner engagement. Therefore, the object of the present invention is to provide a concrete mold that increases its fixation ability, thus preventing the mold from displacing during its use.
Another object of the present invention is to facilitate the union of adjacent concrete molds so as to form a set of concrete molds that it can adapt to dif- ferent surface sizes due to said inner engagement structure present therein which allows for said molds of any size to be cut and assembled.
A further object of the present invention is to provide cutting guide on the mold concrete surface so as to guide the cutting thereof.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an additional guide to orient fixation of said concrete mold.
Additionally, as one important object it can be mentioned the possibility of using two types of materials in the manufacture of said concrete mold so that it allows for it to be used with apparent concrete.
These objects of the present invention are achieved by providing a concrete mold comprising a first surface, a second surface opposed to said first surface, an alveolar structure interconnecting said first and second surfaces, and a engagement structure disposed inside said concrete mold; said alveolar structure comprises a fixation area having a tapered configuration to receive a fixation element. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
The invention will now be described in more details in conjunction with the exemplary drawings of the invention listed below, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of a concrete mold of the present invention;
FIGURE 2 is an additional perspective of the concrete mold of the present invention illustrated in FIGURE 1 ; FIGURE 3 is a front view of the concrete mold of the present invention;
FIGURE 4 is an enlarged view of detail A of the concrete mold of the present invention, illustrated in FIGURE 3; and
FIGURE 5 is an enlarged view of detail B of the concrete mold of the present invention illustrated in FIGURE 3.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
FIGURES 1 and 2 represent perspective views of the concrete mold 10 of the present invention comprising a first surface 20 and a second surface 30 that oppose to said first surface. Said surfaces can be made from the same material or different materials. Alternatively, the manufacture of one said surfaces 20, 30 with a nobler material allows for apparent concrete molds to be used, which requires a more regular surface. Nevertheless, in case it is to be applied to a common concrete, the same material can be used in both surfaces, wherein said material is a polymer preferably selected from a group consisting of polyethylene and polypropyl- ene polymers or a mixture thereof, etc.
For comparison purposes, a polymer structure of the present invention yields 2 to 3 less than conventional aluminum structures available in the market, i.e., for each 100 times of reuse of a polymeric concrete mold, an aluminum mold can be reused 200-300 times. Nevertheless, it is estimated that a polymeric mold in accordance with the present invention costs 5 times less than aluminum molds, thus providing a gain of 1.7 to 2.5 when a polymeric rather than aluminum mold is used.
Said first and second surfaces are connected to each other by an alveolar structure 35. Said alveolar structure, as can be seen from FIGURES 3 and 4,
is divided into two main portions, a support area 40 and a fixation are 50. Support area 40 is intended to maintain the concrete mold shape by avoiding its deformation when a load is applied thereon, or during handling and use. Such support area 40 may be presented in a number of configurations, having rectangular, squared, trian- gular, trapezoidal, circular alveolus or any other form.
Fixation area 50, however, which is intended to receive mold fixation elements 50, such as bolts or rivets, among others, must inter alia be in a specific shape that will maintain the stability of the mold when in use and will prevent it from moving, as it can be seen from FIGURE 5. In order to obtain enhanced stability, the mold of the present invention comprises a tapered fixation area that provides a higher friction between the fixation element and the fixation area of the mold. By this way, a trapezoidal- or triangular-shaped area can among others be used, thereby rendering a tight engagement between the fixation area 50 and the fixation element 60. When the concrete mold is used, one of the first and second surfaces
20, 30 of the concrete mold of the present invention may alternatively include an orientation guide 70 indicating the position of the fixation area so that an operator who is applying said mold can exactly locate said area, whereby destruction or misuse of said mold by erroneous operation is avoided. As an example, such guide can be a visually perceivable frieze applied onto one of the mold surfaces or even a simple visual indication applied onto the mold surface.
Said FIGURES 3 and 4 are front views of a concrete mold of the present invention wherein it can be better seen an additional technical feature of the concrete mold, an engagement structure 80 disposed inside the mold that is re- vealed at the time same is cut. Such engagement structure allows for a concrete mold to be cut at any point and adapted to any surface size what avoids waste when the mold is used. A surface that in the past had to be adapted to the size of adjacent concrete molds, now can undergo a reverse process, being adaptable to any sur-
face size, thus generating a better utilization of the entire area to be built. Preferably, said engagement structure 80 is of female-female type, where a cut will produce two parts of the mold with female engagement. Nevertheless, the mould can be constructed in both male-female and male-male types. Where a male-engagement structure is used, the difference resides in the need of removing a burr associated with said engagement to reveal it entirely.
In the same way as that of fixation area 50, the engagement structure 80 can also be associated with it, an orientation guide for cutting 90 located on the surface opposed to the surface where said orientation guide 70 is disposed, as can be seen from FIGURE 4. Said orientation guide 90 guides the cutting of the mould into a correct position, thereby avoiding that an operator destroys the mold by an inaccurate cutting.
Said engagement structure is preferably built in order to travel longitudinally over the concrete mould length. Nevertheless, alternatively it is provided a concrete mold having an engagement structure transversely traveling over the concrete mold length, thus increasing its suitability to any surface type.
