Abstract
Provided is a liquid crystal display device of a vertical orientation type, in which each of pixel electrodes (30) of a liquid crystal display panel (10) is constituted by juxtaposing at least two sub-pixel electrodes (32a and 32b). The opposed end sides of each of the sub-pixel electrodes (32a and 32b) are electrically connected by a connecting electrode (40) narrower than the sub-pixel electrodes (32a and 32b), and the liquid crystal molecules fall, when a voltage is applied, axially symmetrically with respect to an orientation axis normal to the planes of the individual sub-pixel electrodes (32a and 32b). The connecting electrode (40) has a length (L1) longer than the shortest distance (L2) of the two adjoining sub-pixel electrodes (32a and 32b) which are electrically connected by the connecting electrode (40).
