Abstract

A process for the production of ferromolybdenum which comprises the mixing step (S1) of mixing together a molybdenum disulfide containing waste lubricant as molybdenum source, an iron oxide containing substance as iron source, a carbonaceous reducing agent, a desulfurizing agent, and a slag-forming agent, the melting step (S2) of melting the mixture obtained in the step (S1) under heating to form ferromolybdenum precipitate in the melt, and the separation step (S3) of cooling the melt containing ferromolybdenum precipitate to form a slag and then separating the slag from the ferromolybdenum precipitate, characterized in that the temperature of melting in the step (S2) is controlled at 1400 to 1600°C; and ferromolybdenum obtained by the process.
