Abstract

A pressure of gas hydrate formation pressure or higher is maintained within a measuring vessel (1) of unvaried horizontal sectional area. A liquid sample (5) consisting of a gas hydrate and adherent water is incorporated in a trapped water (7) of temperature higher than gas hydrate formation temperature to thereby decompose the gas hydrate into raw gas and raw water. Not only the volume of raw gas released out of the measuring vessel (1) is measured by a gas flowmeter (3), but also the total volume of raw water and adherent water is determined from a change of water surface height measured by a liquid-level meter (8). The concentration ofgas hydrate is calculated from these volumes.
