Abstract

 本発明は、より多様な状況において、画像データを高品質かつ低遅延に伝送することができるようにした情報処理装置および方法に関する。制御部111は、通信部114より伝送路103の規格上の伝送許容ビットレート、または受信装置に関する情報や伝送許容ビットレートの計測値を含むネゴシエーション情報を取得し、画像データを符号化して伝送するか否かを制御したり、解像度、ビットレート、遅延時間等の符号化の設定を行ったりする。また、符号化部113は、符号化する画像データのフォーマットに応じて色差成分の分解数を制御する。本発明は、例えば、通信装置に適用することができる。
