Abstract
Provided are a mechanical type phase shifter of a low loss and an antenna of variable directive characteristics of a low loss. A reflection type phase-shifting element of a low loss and a large phase-shifting variation is realized by inputting/outputting a high-frequency signal from a radiator (106) to the inside of a two-dimensional waveguide (100a) using a waffle iron conductor plate (104) according to a prismatic conductor having a height larger by an odd number of a quarter wavelength and by moving the conductor plate (104) such that a prismatic conductor (107) having a smaller sectional area and a prismatic conductor (108) having a larger sectional area may replace each other on the front face of the radiator (106). Moreover, transmission type phase shifters (112R) and (112L) of low losses are realized by combining the reflection type phase-shifting element with hybrid couplers (110R) and (100L) disposed in a power feeding circuit layer (109) on the outer side of the two-dimensional waveguide. Still moreover, the antenna of the variable directive characteristics of the low loss is realized by using the transmission type phase shifters (112R) and (112L).
