Description
StJRFACE ATTACHEMENT FOR ADAPTIVE OPTICS
The present invention relates to a particular method of attaching surfaces in dynamic adaptive optic applications. The invention makes use of a patented bonding system (US Patent 6,284,085 Ultra precision and reliable bonding method) applied to the specific case of attaching deformable surfaces, or actuators of the deformable surface, to the mechanisms effecting deformations in adaptive optics.
Adaptive Optics is a mature technology with many methodologies of surface attachment. The method of this patent is unique in this application and enables the possibilities for developments such as the transfer of force across extremely thin ( for example 0.1 micron) surface interfaces. The use of lower actuation forces reduces requirements on actuators and their control electronics.
Claims
1. The use of hydroxide-catalyzed bonding to attach surfaces in adaptive optic applications.
