Abstract
A mobile message that can ride on existing mobile telecommunication network is invented for use with a proprietary application, such as an application to provide trust and security to the message on a mobile device. The new type of mobile message is composed according to a protocol prescribed for the application as well as according to conventional messaging protocol such as SMS, MMS or mobile email respectively. The protocol prescribed for the operation of the application may be customized for different mobile device operating systems. On a mobile device operating with Message Type Module (MTM) architecture such as those found in Symbian operating system, the application comprises the existing MTM is augmented in parallel with a new MTM module to compose the new mobile message. When the mobile message arrives on a mobile device installed with the application that uses the mobile message, the mobile message is tapped, transformed, and acted on by a tapping, transforming and acting (TTA) engine before the application processes it further. The new mobile message, the new MTM module, the TTA engine and a cryptographic engine are integrated with conventional communication system to provide a secure and trusted mobile messaging (SMM). The SMM application provides encrypted, signed and encrypted, or signed mobile messages, which can be exchanged between different entities within the SMJVI system, which can have entities who are also non-mobile device users. The SMM application also comprises a SMM contacts database for storing public keys of SMM contacts. The SMM mobile messages are securely stored on the mobile device and can be backed up with other secure data that the SMM application uses if needed. The SMM application also allows exclusive communication for SMM entities within a closed group.
