Abstract
The shock absorber is for use in spring forks or in rear wheel suspensions of cycles. The rhythmic pedaling of the cycle rider leads to a build-up in the cycle suspension. The shock absorber efficiently suppresses this build-up and absorbs very sensitive shocks caused by uneven riding surfaces. When the working piston (4) compresses, the control piston (10) is always moved as well. The oil, which is displaced behind the control piston (10) escapes through the small borehole (20). During a medium to fast compression of the working piston (4), a dynamic pressure builds up in front of the small borehole (20), which opens the closing piston (17) and thus the pressure stage nozzle (14.2). This sensitively absorbs shocks that act upon the suspension due to uneven riding surfaces. During a slow change in the compression speed of the working piston (4), the dynamic pressure in front of the borehole (20) is insufficient for opening the closing piston (17). The pressure stage nozzle (14.2) thus remains closed and a build-up of the vehicle suspension by the pedaling of the cycle rider is prevented.
