Abstract

A display device includes a real time clock circuit, a liquid crystal display panel, a background illumination device, a backlight driving circuit, a power supply, and a main control unit electrically connected with the backlight driving circuit and the power supply, wherein the liquid crystal display panel includes at least one zone for displaying of the real time information, the background illumination device includes a plurality of light-emitting devices, specifically at least two light- emitting devices having different colours, the backlight driving circuit includes a plurality of modulators, each of which is electrically connected to an associated light-emitting device in order to continuously control the light intensity of the light-emitting device as a function of time. Advantageously, the light colour and intensity of the entire background illumination device of the display device is capable of being varied gradually or progressively as a function of real time.
