Abstract

For making of variable relief design (4) we take a string (1) twisted from wire or narrow strip and cut a material (substance) (3) making oscillation motions across base direction of cutting (2). We may pull the string (1) up and down (section MH) or (and) sway it from side to side (section HTP), lean the string (1) ext. Bricks and the ceramic tiles (1) we produce on vacuum-extruder, equipped by the string (1) (by row of the strings) and by a mechanism for its moving. Using the strings (1) heated by electric current we make relief design on wood, plastics, wax models for jeweler casting, chocolate, caramel. Using cold strings - on pasta, dough, fruit jellies, pastille, slices from potato, fruits, and vegetables.

Description

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RELIEF DESIGN MAKING
Since the invention insures making of decorative relief design on many materials and substances, it may be use in different branches of production, but now we shall describe the invention on instance of building ceramic
So, the invention may be applied for production of decorative bricks and relief tiles from plastic ceramic mass.
Usually, decorative relief design is pressed on plastic ceramic mass by instrument [stamp, roller], having opposite [negative] relief.
A disadvantage of the known method is that in every concrete moment one instrument makes only one surface with only one kind of design.
The aim of this invention is at the same time, by means of one instrument to make two decorative surfaces with many variants of design.
This is achieved thanks to the method, that we take the string with periodical silhouette, for example, twisted from wires or narrow strip, and cut the material making by the string [by the material] motions
[oscillations] across a base direction of cutting, for example, sway it from side to side, pull the ends of the string, lean the string ext.
Both surfaces of the cut have decorative relief design.
Every motion of the string makes two new fragments of the relief, therefore it is obviously, that number of design's variants is unlimited large.
We may cut the material along right, curved or broken base line, making flat, cylindrical, conical, pyramidal [and others] surfaces with relief design.
Except ceramic we may apply the invention for work with:
- plaster, cut in moment of its stiffening;
- metal, cut according to electro-spark method [making of relief stamps];
- wood , cut by electric current heated strings];
- meltable materials and substances - plastics, wax [casting models in jewelry],
- chocolate, caramel [heat strings];
- pasta, dough, fruit jellies, pastille, cheese, slices from potato, fruits, vegetables ext. The strings may be moved mechanically or by electromagnet.
The best productivity achieved, when we cut materials and substances, pressed from an extruder [for ceramic - vacuum-extruder].
Number and position of the strings may be different.
One string makes at the same time two bricks with relief on one surface.
Two crossing strings make four bricks with relief on two surfaces.
A row of parallel strings - packet of tiles.
Synchronous closing in and moving away neighboring strings of row, we can make a decorative panneau with mirror symmetry of the relief.
Using computer regulation we can make decorative panneau with gradual changing of relief from row to row of tiles.
Let us see drawings and photos with examples of invention realization;
Figure 1 is an axonometry scheme, that shows a string 1 , twisted from two wires, on which [along the base direction of cutting 2] approaches a block of material 3.
As a result of right motions of the material 3 and cross motions of the string 1 was made a cut, having two surfaces with relief design 4.
Going along section KM the string was in stabile position and made design with not high relief.
On section MH the string was pulled up, but still became in flatness
KTKH, the design is not high too.
From point H the string began horizontal motion to the right side to point
T and returned back, doing horizontal motion to the left side.
As a result, was made an element of the cut HTR which has different
[mutually opposite] - negative and positive high relief designs on the left and the right-hand surfaces of the cut.
Figure 2 is a photo of more flat design, which was made by pulling of weak strained string.
In not glazed state that kind of tiles, for instance, may be used for floor around pools.
Figure 3 is a photo of fragment high relief design for decorative brick, wall tiles, ceramic fire places.
Figure 4 is a photo which shows an example of the wall tiles with mirror symmetry of the high relief.
Figure 5 shows a vertical section of an apparatus, what make relief design 4 on surfaces of the tiles 5, produced from the plastic ceramic mass 3. Figure 6 is a view of the apparatus in plan.
Figures 5 and 6 show that the ceramic mass 3, pressed by vacuum- extruder 6, moves from square exit opening 7 along the base direction 2 and at first is cut by stabile [not moveable] string 8, making roughness back surface 9 of the tiles 5, and then is cut by a row of twisted strings 1 , that may be moved across of the base direction of cutting 2.
Vertical motions [up and down] made by two shafts 10, which may pull the strings 1 in different directions.
Horizontal motions of the twisted strings 1 from side to side across the base direction of cutting 2 are made by means of rods 11 with rollers 12.
A mechanism, having levers 13 and a rocker 14 on an axle 15, transforms a turns of the axle 15 to synchronous motions of neighboring strings 1 in opposite directions, closing in and moving its away.
As a result, moveable twisted strings 1 make surfaces 16 with mirror symmetry of high relief design.
The apparatus equipped by seven twisted strings at the same time makes fourteen tiles with four kinds of design.
Productivity of the apparatus is 3 - 8 tons of the tiles in hour.
