Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing a multi-subunit protein of interest, comprising a method for producing a multi-subunit protein, comprising the steps of (a) transforming a first insect with a non-viral expression system capable of expressing at least one sub-unit, a variant or a fragment thereof, of a multi-subunit protein of interest in the larva of the insect; (b) transforming a second insect with a non-viral expression system capable of expressing at least one sub-unit, of a multi-subunit protein of interest in the larva of the insect; and (c) optionally, transforming a third or further insect with a non-viral expression system capable of expressing at least one sub-unit, of a multi­subunit protein of interest in the larva of the insect; and (d) crossing the insects described in steps a, b and c to produce larvae capable of expressing two or more of said at least one subunits, (e) culturing the larvae; and (f) isolating the multi-subunit protein of interest from the cultured larvae.
