Abstract

Photorecording media having two or more recording layers, wherein the first recording layer, among the two or more recording layers, located closest to a light-permeable substrate provided in the side through which laser beams from an optical system permeate, contains an imide-type organic pigment represented by the following general formula (1): (1) wherein the ring AR represents an optionally substituted aryl residue or a residue of two or more aryl residues bonded via one or more linking groups; k represents the number of imide groups bonded to the ring AR; and A represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent bonded to the nitrogen atom of each imide group. The first recording layer enables favorable recording and reproduction using a laser beam of wavelength λ1 selected from the range of 390 to 430 nm, and other recording layers also enable favorable recording and reproduction.
