Abstract

The invention relates to a device and a method for the generation of electrical energy from a flowing medium, for example, water, with a number of turbine-generator units, arranged serially and/or in parallel and connected to each other to form one or more modules. The turbines of a turbine-generator unit comprise rotating turbine blades which, in the region of the external ends thereof, have a non-positive fit with an annular rotor of the generator of the turbine-generator unit and the stator of the generator is arranged in a fixed manner, concentrically around the rotor within the module. The invention further relates to a unit for the generation of electrical energy and a method for the conversion of such a unit. The weight and installation length of the module is significantly reduced by the above construction of the module. Additionally, as a result of the reduced momentum of the turbine-generator units, oscillations in the turbine-generator units and the module during operation and tipping moments on lifting and lowering the module are avoided.
