Abstract

A method for detecting a nucleic acid, wherein the nucleic acid is hybridized with at least one first probe with a donor fluorophore and a second probe with an acceptor fluorphore and the emission spectrum of the donor fluorophore overlaps with the excitation spectrum of the acceptor fluorophore. The donor fluorophore is then selectively excited and the emission of the acceptor fluorophore is detected.
