Abstract

A process for producing fine particles having a target ingredient encapsulated therein, which comprises dispersing a mixture comprising the target ingredient, the following monomer ingredient, the following supplementary polymer (SPA), and an initiator into an aqueous solution of a dispersant to conduct suspension polymerization. Monomer ingredient: a monomer ingredient comprising 100 to 0 wt.% at least one crosslinking monomer and 0 to 100 wt.% at least one monofunctional monomer. Supplementary polymer (SPA): a polymer which has low compatibility with the polymer (PA) to be obtained by (co)polymerizing the monomer ingredient and satisfies the relationship Ϝx≥Ϝy, whereinϜx is the interfacial tension (mN/m) between the supplementary polymer (SPA) and water and Ϝy is the interfacial tension (mN/m) between the polymer (PA) and water. By the process, fine particles having the target ingredient enclosed in the hollow part can be formed in one step. That is, the process can be easily conducted at low cost without necessitating special facilities or apparatuses. The supplementary polymer is unnecessary when the target ingredient is a specific ingredient which can be substituted for the supplementary polymer.
