Abstract

A method for predicting the function of a biopolymer is disclosed. One method according to the present invention includes determining the biochemical properties of the amino acids, creating a representation of the biopolymer by combining the biochemical properties, and predicting the function of the biopolymer based at least in part on the representation. Many biochemical properties may be relevant to the function of a biopolymer. For example, in one embodiment, hydrophobicity, solubility, and a quantum value are determined for each amino acid. Another method according to the present invention includes determining signal-processing measures for the biopolymer based at least in part on the biochemical properties and classifying the biopolymer based at least in part on the signal-processing measures. These measures may include, for example, fractal dimension, entropy, mobility, and complexity. The biochemical properties may be measured or retrieved from a database.
