Definitions
- the invention relates to a safety device for a closing or sun protection installation.
- the invention also relates to a mechanism for operating such an installation.
- closing installation means doors, gates, shutters and equivalent equipment.
- a winding mechanism for the operation of an apron, a door, a shutter or the like.
- a mechanism can be actuated mechanically, by means of a strap or a crank, or electrically by means of a motor which is most often of the motor-brake type.
- FR-A-2 242 010 describes a ratchet or pendulum which comprises a branch capable of coming into engagement with an external toothing of a wheel secured to a winding shaft of an apron.
- This balance comprises a second branch provided with a roller which forms a counterweight to the first, while the roller rolls on undulations formed at the periphery of a second wheel, integral with the first. Gravity tends to press the roller on the periphery of the second wheel, so that the first arm of the balance wheel oscillates between an engagement and release position with respect to the teeth of the first wheel without, however, abutting against them, which is effectively the case when the speed of wheel rotation is reduced.
- DE-A-29 15 547 plans to replace the teeth with rods which ensure both the undulation and the blocking of a pawl. This device is only active to brake the rotation of a winding shaft beyond a certain speed of this shaft.
- a door equipped with such a mechanism cannot be maneuvered when lowering by direct action on it, which is unacceptable in practice since a door or a store grille must be capable of being closed, including in the event of power outage.
- a direct action on the door on the descent is detected by the mechanism as a compensation deficit.
- the compensation springs are oversized so that the forces which they deploy are always greater than the effect of the weight of the door lowering, otherwise the lowering movement of the apron or the grid by the action of the motor induces successive blockings / unblockings of the pawl which can, in the long run, damage the mechanism.
- the invention more particularly intends to remedy by proposing a safety device for a closing or sun protection installation comprising an oscillating pawl. which functions correctly, including in the event of failure of a compensation means, such as a spring.
- the invention relates to a safety device for a closing or sun protection installation comprising a mechanism for driving a means for closing an opening, this mechanism including an integral shaft and an element provided with a toothing capable of cooperating with at least one oscillating pawl during the rotational movements of the shaft and capable of immobilizing it in rotation.
- This device is characterized in that it comprises means for braking or blocking the pawl in its oscillation movement, these braking or blocking means being controlled by means for detecting the state of a compensation means. of the torque exerted on this shaft by the shutter means.
- a failure of a compensation means such as a spring, and more particularly a rupture of such a spring, induces braking of the oscillating pawl, which makes it possible to maintain it in the blocking position of the element provided with teeth.
- a failure of a compensation means such as a spring, and more particularly a rupture of such a spring, induces braking of the oscillating pawl, which makes it possible to maintain it in the blocking position of the element provided with teeth.
- the braking means and the associated detection means make it possible to react immediately to a failure of the compensation means, before a significant variation in the speed of the rotary shaft occurs, corresponding to a potentially dangerous movement of the obturation means.
- the device of the invention works, in practice, by detecting the torque due to the compensation spring and not by detecting a compensation deficit.
- the device For compensated type installations, the device provides double protection, i.e. protection at low speed, which is the case when the failure concerns the means of compensation, and at high speed, which is the case for the other failures. It turns out in practice that, in compensated installations, the fall of the closure means, that is to say most often of the deck, is most often the result of a failure of the compensation means. Thanks to the invention, the lifetime of the installation is maintained since, in the most frequent case, there is no shock created during the implementation of the safety device.
- the device of the invention is also simpler, lighter, less expensive and less bulky than those of the prior art.
- this device incorporates one or more of the following characteristics:
- the braking or blocking means comprise a pad movable axially with respect to the aforementioned shaft and capable of coming to bear against the pawl.
- this pad carries at least one relief capable of cooperating with a corresponding relief provided on a member integral in rotation with the compensation means, for controlling the axial position of the pad relative to the pawl.
- the reliefs provided respectively on the aforementioned member and on the skate may include ribs and grooves capable of engaging with each other. These ribs and grooves allow, for example by a screwing / unscrewing movement, to control the axial position of the pad. It is further possible to provide that at least some of the abovementioned reliefs are formed on tongues extending through openings made in the element secured to the shaft.
- the aforementioned shoe and member are advantageously arranged axially on either side of the element integral with the tree by being kinematically connected by the cooperation of the aforementioned reliefs.
- Means for applying an elastic force for moving the shoe towards the pawl can be provided.
- the member and the element integral with the shaft are advantageously provided with ribs between which is disposed at least one compression spring exerting a torque for rotating the member integral with the compensation means with respect to the element secured to the tree.
- the shoe is a ring arranged inside the shaft and around a support element and / or motor assembly for the mechanism.
- the braking or blocking means are capable of moving or tilting the pawl towards a braked or blocked position.
- a friction pad may be provided, mounted on the pawl or facing it, and intended to receive the pawl as support or to come into contact with a bearing surface.
- the braking or blocking means may further comprise a surface formed on a part integral in rotation with the compensation means and intended to exert, directly or indirectly on the pawl, a displacement or tilting force. This surface can extend in a direction generally inclined with respect to an axis of rotation of the shaft, this surface then forming a ramp capable of moving the pawl towards its braked or locked position.
- This surface can also be generally radial with respect to an axis of rotation of the shaft and be able to cooperate with a finger of the pawl to make it tilt, around its axis of oscillations, towards a position braked or locked by engagement with the teeth.
- Means for returning the pawl opposite the braked or locked position can be provided.
- the means of braking or blocking can also include at least one shuttle capable of moving the pawl in the direction of a fixed blocking teeth. In this case, this shuttle is advantageously provided with an elastic means for adjusting its length, taken between a bearing surface and the pawl. There may also be provided elastic return means of the braking or blocking means towards a position in which they exert on the pawl a force of displacement or tilting towards the braked or blocked position.
- the pawl can be mounted on a fixed element of the installation where, on the contrary on an element integral in rotation with the shaft, being intended to be driven in rotation by the latter.
- the braking or blocking means, the detection means and the compensation means are arranged around a support element and / or motor assembly for the mechanism.
- the compensation means is a spring banded around a support at the end of the shaft, between a part fixed relative to the support and an annular member able to rotate around that -ci being driven by the shaft, the pawl being pivotally mounted about a fixed axis relative to the support.
- the compensation means is a spring banded by a weight and secured to an annular member surrounding a support at the end of the shaft, the pawl being pivotally mounted about an axis fixed relative to this support.
- the compensation means is a spring banded around a motorization assembly disposed inside the shaft, the pawl being pivotally mounted about a fixed axis by relative to a part forming the end support of this shaft.
- the compensation means is a spring integrated in a spring box (s) disposed inside the shaft, between the latter and a fixed shaft, the spring box (s) also comprising the pawl, the braking means and the detection means.
- the invention also relates to a mechanism for operating a closing or sun protection installation which comprises a safety device as described above.

- the mechanism 1 comprises a tubular shaft 3 of circular section and the longitudinal axis of which coincides with the axis XX ′.
- the tree 3 could have a polygonal section or another profile.
- a support 4 fixed by any appropriate means to the console 2, is disposed inside the tube 3 and is equipped with an annular ring 5 which surrounds the support 4 while being immobilized thereon in rotation and in translation.
- the ring 5 is therefore fixed relative to the masonry of the building.
- a pawl 6 is mounted on a mechanical axis 7 passing through an opening 51 of the ring 5.
- A-A ' denotes the geometric axis of symmetry of the shaft 7.
- the axes X-X' and A-A ' are generally parallel.
- the pawl 6 comprises a first branch 61 -s 'extending radially with respect to the axis AA' when the pawl 6 is mounted on the axis 7 and a second branch 62.
- a ring 8 is also mounted around the support 4 and immobilized axially with respect to the latter thanks to a circlip 81 engaged in a groove 41 of the support 4.
- the ring 8 is integral in rotation with the shaft 3.
- the ring 8 comprises an internal sleeve 82 defining a cylindrical surface with a circular base 83 of radius substantially equal to the external radial surface 43 of the support 4, so that the ring 8 can rotate around the axis XX 'by sliding on the surface 43.
- the ring 8 also includes an external sleeve 84 provided with holes 85 for the passage of screws, not shown, making it possible to secure the ring 8 and the shaft 3 in rotation and in translation.
- An annular web 86 connects the sleeves 82 and 84 and is pierced with three openings 87.
- Three ribs 88, radial and generally planar, are also provided between the sleeves 82 and 84 while being perpendicular to the web 86.
- An inclined toothing 89 is formed inside the sleeve 84. This toothing is oriented and dimensioned to cooperate, if necessary, with the branch 62 of the pawl 6.
- a ring 9 is provided to be mounted around the sleeve 82 while being held axially by a circlip 91 engaged in a groove 81 'of the ring 81.
- the external surface 92 of the ring 9 is generally frustoconical and stepped.
- the surface 92 is also provided with a notch 93 for receiving and wedging a first end of a compensating spring 10, the part closest to this end is wound on the surface 92.
- the opposite end of the spring 10 is immobilized on a ring 11 of outer shape also frustoconical, itself immobilized on the support 4 by means of a pin 12.
- a motorization assembly which can be electrical or mechanical and disposed near the opposite end of the shaft 3, makes it possible to rotate the shaft 3 around the axis XX ′, as shown by the double arrow R in Figure 3.

- the compensating spring 10 is more or less bandaged between the ring 9 and the ring 11.
- the shaft 3 rotates the ring 8 which trained by the cooperation of the ribs 88 and 95, the ring 9.
- the tension of the spring 10 increases or decreases.
- the pawl 6 oscillates around the axis A-A', this movement of oscillations being generated by the successive contacts between the branch 62 and the teeth of the toothing 89 and by the effect of the weight of the branch 61 which is heavier than the branch 62.
- the pawl 6 or equivalent is of the non-blocking type by default. It becomes blocking under the effect of centrifugal force, during a rapid rotation of the shaft 3 or equivalent in the course of the deck T.
- a ring 20 is interposed between the ring 5 and the face 86a of the web 86 facing the ring 5. In fact, the ring 20 is interposed between the face 86a and the pawl 6.

- the torque C 2 has a relatively low value compared to the torque Ci.
- the value of the stiffness constants of the springs 30 is chosen for this purpose as a function of that of the spring 10.
- the braking or the locking of the pawl 6 is obtained in the event of total or almost total failure of the spring 10 and not in the event of momentary undercompensation due, for example, to a variation in the winding diameter of the bulkhead, as could occur in a device operating on the basis of a compensation deficit.
- the apron T then no longer risks falling accidentally.
- the mechanism 101 of this embodiment is provided for winding an apron T and comprises a shaft 103 mounted on a ring 108, itself supported by a support 104 immobilized relative to a console 102 fixed relative to the masonry of a building.
- a ring 105 is mounted at the end of the support 104 and immobilized axially by means of a circlip 151 and in rotation by cooperation of shapes.
- the ring 105 supports a mechanical axis 107 of which we denote A-A 'the geometric axis, while we denote X-X' the geometric axis of the tube 103 which is also its axis of rotation.

- Around this sleeve 192 is wound a cable 110 to which is suspended a weight P.
- a ring 120 is equipped with tongues 122 provided with grooves 124 for receiving ribs 194 formed on the ring 109, the cooperation of the elements 124 and 194 making it possible to exert on the ring 120 efforts of translation Fi and F 2 parallel to axes AA 'and XX', which allows the ring 120 to selectively brake a pawl 106 mounted on the axis 107.
- the effort Fi is generated by the weight P, while the effort F 2 is generated by springs 130 interposed between ribs belonging respectively to the ring 108 and to the ring 109.
- a failure of the means for supporting the weight P, in particular a break in the cable 110, has the effect of rotating the ring 109 around the axis XX ′. This induces, as in the previous embodiment, a displacement of the ring 120 in the direction of the pawl 106, the ring blocking the pawl in engagement in the toothing 189. It follows that the ring 108 and the tube 103 are immobilized in rotation relative to the ring 105 and to the support 104.
- a mechanism for driving the shaft 103 in rotation can be provided at the opposite end of this shaft.
- the mechanism 201 of this embodiment is provided for the controlled winding d 'an apron T around an axis XX' which is also the axis of symmetry of a shaft 203.

- the external housing 278 of the motor 275 has substantially the same geometry as the support 4 of the first embodiment.
- the pawl 206 is articulated around an axis 207 fixed on a part 205 integral with the support 204.
- This embodiment has the particular advantage that all of the motorization, compensation and safety functions of the mechanism 201 are grouped together in a compact device which can be pre-assembled in the factory, before being installed inside. of one end of the shaft 203.
- elements similar to those of the first embodiment bear identical references increased by 300.
- the mechanism 301 of this mode embodiment includes a tube 303 controlled winding of an apron T around an axis XX 'which is also the axis of symmetry of the tube 303.

- This spring box (s) comprises a compensation spring 310, one end of which 310a is integral with an internal radial part 401 of the box 400 and the other end of which 310b is integral with an annular element 309 mounted, with the possibility of rotation, on a ring 308, itself integral with the shaft 303 .
- a ring 320 constitutes a pad capable of braking a pawl 306 supported by a mechanical pin 307 secured to a lateral partition 305 of the spring box 400, this lateral partition being, in practice, integral with the part 401 which is fixed relative to shaft 304.
- Springs 330 make it possible to exert on the annular part 309 a force transmitted by a rib 394 to a groove 324 of the ring 320 and tending to press the ring 320 against the pawl 306, as represented by the force arrow F 2 .
- the force exerted by the springs 330 is overcome by the spring 310, so that the ring 320 is kept away from the pawl 306 while maintaining a clearance J, as represented by the arrow effort F.
- the geometry of the grooves 24 and the ribs 94 or equivalent elements of the second, third and fourth embodiments is not necessarily helical.

- a winding shaft 503 is provided to rotate around an axis XX 'to allow the controlled winding of an apron T.
- a ring 505 is fixed by a console not shown to the masonry of a building.
- a pawl 506 is integral, in rotation about the axis XX ', with the shaft 503 which defines a housing 503a for receiving the pawl 506.
- the pawl 506 is provided with two branches 561 and 562 and a body central 563. The branch 561 is able to cooperate with an inclined toothing 589 formed at the periphery of the ring 505.
- a leaf spring 571 exerts on the branch 562 a force F 3 intended to induce a pivoting of the pawl 562 around its axis X ⁇ -X' ⁇ of articulation on the shaft 503 in the direction of the arrow F 4 in the figure 10, which has the effect of moving the branch 561 away from the toothing 589.
- the axes X-X 'and i-X'i are generally parallel.
- the branches 561 and 562 are generally balanced, which allows the pawl 506 to operate efficiently, as mentioned with reference to the pawls of the previous embodiments, independently of the orientation of the shaft 503 around the axis XX ' .
- a compensation spring 510 is provided in the installation and is locked on a ring 509, itself pivotally mounted around the ring 505.
- the ring 509 is provided with a radial extension 591 intended to penetrate into a notch 503b formed in the shaft 503, a spring 530 being interposed between the extension 591 and one of the sides of the notch 503b. This spring exerts on the extension 591 an elastic force F 5 oriented to the left in FIG. 8.
- the force F 5 has the effect of moving the ring 509 relative to the shaft 503 to the left in FIG. 8 and upwards in FIG. 9, which has the effect of d 'bring a surface 592 formed on the ring 509 in abutment against an end finger 564 of the pawl 506.
- the surface 592 is inclined relative to the axis X ⁇ -X' ⁇ and relative to the axis X-X ', so that the displacement of the ring 509 under the force F 5 , displacement which is represented by the arrow F 6 in FIG. 9 has the effect of pushing the finger 564 and the assembly of the pawl 506 in the direction of the arrow F. This has the effect of bringing the rear face 565 of the pawl 506 into contact with a friction pad 572.
- the pad 572 could be mounted on the pawl 506, in which case it would be moved with the pawl towards a side face 503c of the housing 503.
- the mechanism 601 of this embodiment differs from the previous one in that, in the event rupture of the compensation spring 610, the ring 609 integral with the compensation spring 610 acts by its extension 691 directly on a finger 666 of the pawl 606, this under the effect of a force F 5 exerted by a spring 630. Under l effect of the force exerted by a lateral face 692 of the extension 691, the pawl 606 rocks in the direction of the arrow F 8 in FIG. 12, which has the effect of bringing its branch 661 into engagement with a toothing 689 provided on a ring 605 fixed relative to the structure of the building and around which the ring 609 is mounted.
- the pawl 606 is received in a housing 603a formed in the shaft 603 for winding the apron T.
- a spring 671 exerts on the pawl 606 an elastic force F 3 for moving the branch 661 relative to the toothing 689.
- the housing for receiving the pawl can be obtained by assembly of several parts together constituting the shaft 503 or 603.
- the mechanism 701 of this embodiment also comprises a ring 705 fixed by relative to the structure of a building as well as a ring 709 pivotally mounted around the ring 705 and integral in rotation with a compensation spring 710.
- a shaft 703 is provided for the controlled winding of an apron T by its rotation around a generally horizontal axis XX '.
- An extension 703d is provided on the shaft 703 to extend inside a housing 793 formed in the ring 709 and inside which is also disposed a spring 730 exerting on the extension 703d a force F 5 directed to the right in FIG. 15 and overcome by the torque exerted by the spring t 710 during normal operation of the installation. If the spring 710 breaks, the force F 5 moves the extension 703d inside the housing 793, which has the effect of rotating the ring 709 relative to the shaft 703, as shown by arrow F 6 in FIG. 16.
- a radial notch 794 is provided in the ring 709 while a shuttle 780 is installed in a housing 703e provided in a part 703 ′ secured to the shaft 703.
- the lateral faces 794a and 794b of the notch 794 are flared, which allows, during the movement F 6 , to exert on the shuttle 780 a centrifugal force F ⁇ 0 relative to the axis XX 'and having the effect of moving the end 780a of the shuttle 780 radially outwards, this pushing the pawl 706 radially in the direction of the arrow F ⁇ : and preventing a new introduction of a pawl 706 into the housing 703f normally provided for the latter in the shaft 703.
- the pawl 706 comes into engagement with the toothing 789 and the mechanism is locked in rotation.
- a shuttle 780 is provided under each housing 703f.
- the ring 709 also comprises several radial notches 794 corresponding to the different shuttles 780.
- the tooth of the toothing 789 visible in FIG. 16 is bordered by a part 789a of relatively small radius of curvature and then by a part
- the invention has been described with an apron T selectively windable around a shaft for closing an opening O. It is however applicable whatever the nature of the closing means used, which can in particular be a panel rigid or semi-rigid controlled by straps themselves wound on a tree.
