According to the sixth edition of the International Patent Classification, the invention belongs to the field of technique, marked by the signs: G09F14/04 - signs, boards or panels illuminated behind the signs,
H05B37/00 - arrangement of electrical circuits for electrical light sources in general.
Illuminated displays by means of which commercials or other messages are displayed from visible areas of the display turned to watchers, illuminated with electric or other ligth sources arranged behind the visible display surface, consist mainly of rigid housings and light sources. Constructions of housings and electrical light sources should meet safety regulations regarding the use of the display.
Therefore, housings are preferably made of metal or combinations of metal constructions, wood and polymere materials and light sources are mainly electrical sources. At construction of these displays, special attention should be paid to electrical and thermal characteristics of materials of which dispalys are made.
Reliability of displays is achieved by using noncombustibles and materials with high electroinsulating properties which makes them more expensive as products.
The invention solves the technical problem of manufacturing reliable, functional and economic displays with electric light sources in housings of inflammable materials as cardboard or non self-extinguishing types of polymer materials.
BACKGROUND ART
In the application there are various constructions of advertising light displays which operation reliability is based on the use of material for housings and electrical components of high thermical insulating and electroinsulating properties.
The patent GB2128009 describes the light display which housing is made of plastic material and which is inside coated with reflecting aluminium foil. The electric source of light is one bulb directly connected to the power supply.
The patent US6042243 describes a modular housing of light display, made of polymeric rigid frames and plates.
The patent US3824723 describes a circuit diagram of control and regulation of operation of a complex light display consisting of more separated single displays. The patent GB2128313 describes the night lamp for projecting image messages in children's rooms, consisting of rigid housing with exchangabne display in which there is arranged one or more electric lamps fed with low-voltage electric power from transformer connected to the power supply. All mentioned solutions of light displays consist of relatively complex housings, made of rigid metal and/or polymeric materials. Feeding light source with electric power from the power supply, causes heating of inside of the housing. Transfer of heat from the light source to the housing is prevented by various layers reflecting or absorbing the heat. Solutions with feeding light sources with low-voltage electric power from transformers connected to the power supply make constructions of displays significantly more expensive. Therefore market prices of described solutions have been relatively high and the application strongly alloted. DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION The advertising light display according to the invention is a device consisting of housing completely made of cardboard or other light inflammable materials and electric light device fed by the electric power from the power supply. The electric light display is a low-energy device, placed in the whole in the housing of the display. It is fed with alternating current of voltage 220 V frequency 50 Hz, that is by semiconducting device transformed in the direct current of low power, by which electric light sources of small power are fed. Total heat produced by the operation of electric light sources increases the air temperature in the housing to the highest temperature that is below the amount of a half of temperature of spontaneous combustion of material the housing is made of. Transfer of heat from carrier of electric light sources to the housing is prevented by the layer of thermical insulating material, inserted between the carrier of electric sources of light and the housing. Total heat produced by the operation of electric light sources and transferred by radiation and contact from electric light sources to the housing in permanent operation, can not cause the combustion of the housing. Such an
electric, thermal and insulating properties of electric light device enable the use of light inflammable materials for construction of the housing of the light display. Figure 1 shows the spatial appearance of advertising light display made of cardboard with partly uncovered front part of the housing.
Figure 2 shows the cross-section of advertising light display made of cardboard from the figure 1.
Figure 3 shows the schema of electric device of advertising light display of cardboard. Advertising light display according to the invention consists of multipart housing and electric light device, arranged in the housing.
The example of construction of the display's housing is shown in figures 1 and 2. The shown housing represents in form-based sense one of the known, most frequent construction of housings of light displays with one plane surface for displaying messages. It has the form of hollow square made of nontransparent single-layer lower part 1 and multilayer upper part, consisting of one or more layers 2, 3 with openings that together make the light message. The upper part of the housing is coated with light-permeable foil 5 covering the openings. Lower and upper part of the housing are made of cardboard panels or polymeric panels, interconnected with grooved links and/or glueing.
The electric light device of the display is made of the circuit made up of conductor, junction elements, semiconducting rectifying element, electric light fixtures, electric circuit carrier and insulation base into one circuit. It is placed in the housing of display, so that light fixtures are put and arranged below the opening, producing the light message.
The example of construction of the electric light device is shown in figures 1 , 2 and 3. The device is fed by alternating current of voltage 220 V, frequency 50 Hz over the power cable 6 with the plug 7 and switch or without it. The free end of the cable 6 is with the clamp 8 fastened to the carrier 10 of power circuit and cable outlets 6 are fastened in openings f the serial bipolar terminal 9 which is also fastened to the carrier 10 of the circuit. Carrier 10 of the cuircuit is the plate of pertinax with printed serial or parallel circuit starting on one connection of the serial bipolar terminal 9 and ending on the other connection of the serial bipolar
terminal 9. Dimensions of the plate with printed circuit are defined with dimentions of light message performed on the upper part of the display housing. In the example of construction of the serial circuit shown in figure 3 on the beginning of the circuit there is the diode D that the alternating current of voltage 220 V and frequency 50 Hz transforms in the direct current of low voltage and small power. In the serial circuit there are connected bulbs Z1 , Z2, .... Zn, illuminating the light message. Number and arrangement of bulbs is also defined by dimentions of light message, performed on the upper part of the display housing. Noticeability of light message may be emphasized by alternate switching on and off the light source of the display. Interruption and establishing the current circuit may be done by the time-programmed electric device or bulb Z1 that beside the coiled-coii filament, has the bimetal temperature switch. Carrier 10 with all described components of the circuit is fastened with screws to the insulation base 11 that is by gluing fastened to the lower part 1 of the display housing. In this way, the carrier 10 is with components of the electric light device additionally thermally and electrically insulated from the display housing.
In the described way, the advertising light display of cardboard, made of the following components shown in figures 1 , 2 and 3, is constructed:
The advertising light display of cardboard, made of the above mentioned components was tested in continuous operation of 72 hours. The maximum inside temperature in the display was 42° C, which is significantly lower temperature than the temperature of spontaneous combustion of a cardboard. On the basis of these tests, the display met the following Croatian standards: HRN N.L5.110 and HRN N.L5.115.
The described way of constructing the advertising light display of cardboard illustrates wide range of possibilities if various construction of light displays regarding the housing and construction of belonging electric light device.
The housing may be made in the form of any hollow geometric solids or combination of parts of mantle of two or more geometric solids. The form of the housing is determined by the aesthetic commercial factors and its constructional properties by rigidity and place of assignment. Planes of the housing with light messages may be performed on one level or spatially bent plane of the housing or more plane or spatially bent planes of the housing, making a part of superficial area or the whole external superficial area of the housing of the display. The electric light device of the display should be made of components of serial or parallel electric circuit fed by alternate current which is by one or more rectifying elements transformed in the direct current of low voltage and small power by which light fixtures are fed. The device itself should be additionally thermally and electrically insulated from the housing, so that the maximum air temperature in the housing and temperature of the housing itself in continuous operation does not exceed 50° C. With reference to poor water resistance of the housing's material, it is clear that displays made of cardboard are primarily intended for the use in closed and dry spaces as stationary bodies that are fastened to the vertical or plane base or as freestanding portable objects. Regarding properties of the light message itself, light displays may be used for the following:
• advertising purposes for displaying various commercials,
• information in internal traffic within public and production buildings as railway stations, airports, museums, educational institutions and factories,
• for educational purposes in educational and training institutions,
• for entertaining purposes on the occasion of sport, music and cultural entertainment events.
