Description

TAPA PARA LATAS DE BEBIDA. COVER FOR DRINK CANS.
DESCRIPCIÓNDESCRIPTION
OBJETO DE LA INVENCIÓNOBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a lid for beverage cans, of which they are presented closed by means of a closure tab whose unsealing and opening is carried out by means of a ring fixed to the beverage can itself by means of a rivet.
ANTECEDENTES DE LA INVENCIÓNBACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Beverage cans once opened present the problem that the closure means available to them are not reusable, that is, they do not allow the can to be closed again with them. This circumstance represents a problem if, once the can is opened, all its contents are not consumed and it is desired to save it for later consumption or if it wishes to transport as this entails a risk of spilling the content.
There are currently several types of lids for soda cans, said lids being designed for those soda cans in which once opened, the assembly formed by the tongue and the opening ring is completely separated from the can body. That is, these last two elements are no longer present in the mouth of the can, so that the lids can be positioned on the defined mouth by completely separating the tongue.
As background of this type of tapas, we can mention the Spanish application of utility model 271.032 regarding a shutter device for soda cans that allows it to fit into mouths that Have your entire perimeter free. The application of utility model 9100712 concerning an auxiliary stopper for canned drinks is also similar.
In the beverage cans currently used, both the tongue and the opening ring remain attached to the can once it is opened, so that the aforementioned background is not attachable to the cans currently used and in which the tongue is fixed by a peripheral portion of material around the mouth of the can.
Mention should also be made of document WO-94/24006 describing a tear-off lid for opening metal cans and reusable for closing them, which does not consist of an added element for the lid of the can mouth, but rather, it is a redesign of the closing tongue that the cans currently have, which represents a different problem than simply closing the cans currently existing in the market.
DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA INVENCIÓNDESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
To solve the aforementioned problems, the lid for beverage cans object of the invention has been devised, which provides constructive peculiarities oriented to facilitate and ensure a correct closure of the mouths of the cans although they keep the tongue with the ring after opening.
According to the invention, the lid is composed of a single-piece body of plastic material that has a base of general prismatic configuration intended to be coupled and disengaged in the mouth of the can once opened.
Said single piece body has on its upper surface a prominence for snap coupling into the inner hole of the opening ring of the closing tab of the mouth of the beverage can. The lid, once coupled in its location of the opening ring, remains therein both in the use position and in the inoperative position.
The base of the lid has peripherally: a lower portion intended to be housed in the mouth of the can after being pressed under it, an intermediate groove for housing the contour of the mouth of the can in the position of use of the lid, and an upper portion of greater amplitude that defines an annular surface intended to contact externally against the peripheral surface of the mouth of the can ensuring its closure.
The lower portion of the base of the lid has a convergent lateral surface towards the lower area to facilitate its introduction into the mouth of the beverage can.
In addition, the lower portion of the lid base also has a portion in correspondence with the area of the beverage can in which the joint with the closure tab remains once the opening thereof has been made.
The upper portion of the base of the lid has an outstanding horizontal fin in correspondence with the area of the beverage can in which the joint with the closure tab remains once the opening thereof has been made. In other words, in correspondence with the inward portion of the lower portion of the base of the lid.
The aforementioned upper prominence of the cover comprises a straight initial section, of analogous section to the inner hole of the tongue opening ring, and an extreme thickening that has a decreasing section towards its free end to facilitate its introduction through the mentioned inner hole of the ring. After the opening of a can of beverage, the capping thereof is carried out by pressing the upper prominence of the lid into the inner hole of the opening ring, which is fixed to the tongue by means of a rivet. After this coupling, a rotation is made, around said rivet, of the ring with the lid incorporated in order to face the lid with the mouth of the can, at which time, the application of a pressure on the lid causes the introduction of the lower portion of its base in said mouth and consequently the capped pursued.
