Definitions
- a nozzle for a vacuum cleaner comprises a plate, the lower face of which, intended to bear on the ground, is optionally equipped with elements such as brushes and optionally comprises channels directing the air sucked in towards a suction orifice.
- the upper face of the plate is equipped with a tube communicating with the suction port and connected to a suction group located near the tube or at a distance from it in the case of an installation with a group centralized suction.
- the brush-shaped elements can be retractable to facilitate the movement of the nozzle on certain types of floor, in particular carpets and rugs.
- a vacuum cleaner The function of a vacuum cleaner is to vacuum up dust. However, the fine particles which are set in motion during the suction operation are not picked up by the vacuum cleaner and are redeposited. Consequently, after having vacuumed a floor, such as a tile or parquet, it is advisable to complete this vacuuming operation by a cleaning operation using a mop, a sponge, or wipe, whether or not soaked with liquid.
- the object of the invention is to provide a nozzle for a vacuum cleaner which makes it possible, during a single operation, to carry out suction and cleaning.
- the underside of the plate comprises at least two suction channels between which a wiping device is mounted, the two channels being located in front and behind the device d 'wiping, in the direction of movement of the nozzle on the floor during the suction operation.
- the suction channel located forward in the direction of movement draws in large particles, and the wiping device immediately proceeds to remove the micro-particles, thereby ensuring floor cleaning.
- the wiping device is removably mounted on the underside of the plate. It is important to be able to remove the wiping device on the one hand in order to carry out the cleaning or replacement thereof, and on the other hand, to be able to use the nozzle on surfaces other than smooth surfaces, such as tiling or parquet, after retracting the brushes protruding from the underside of the plate.
- the lower plane of the wiping device is located substantially in the lower plane of the brushes.
- the wiping device consists of a wipe or the like.
- the wiping device could also consist of a sponge, a mop or the like.
- the wiping device is removably attached to the underside of the plate by elements with loops and hooks, such as those known under the brand VELCRO.
- the wiping device In order to promote cleaning, it is advantageous for the wiping device to be wet. It is therefore possible to use a wet wipe, or to associate with the wiping device a humidification device from a reservoir of liquid contained in the nozzle, or fixed on the operating rod thereof. .
- the latter comprises means ensuring, during the displacement of the nozzle in one direction, the communication between the suction orifice and the suction channel located forward in the direction of movement of the nozzle and the closing of the suction channel located behind.
- This arrangement is advantageous insofar as it allows the suction phenomenon to be concentrated in front of the wiping device, in the direction of movement of the nozzle.
- the support of the wiping device is slidably mounted on the plate of the end piece in the direction of movement of the latter, in order to close the suction channel located behind in the direction of moving the nozzle and clearing the suction channel located in front. It is therefore the support of the wiping device itself which forms a shutter for one or the other of the two suction channels located in front and back in the direction of movement of the nozzle.
- the plate is of generally rectangular shape and has two suction channels arranged along its two longitudinal edges.
- the plate is generally ovoid in shape and has two suction channels meeting at the two vertices.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a first end piece
- FIG. 2 is a perspective view from below of this same endpiece on an enlarged scale
- FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the endpiece of FIGS. 1 and 2 along the line III-III of FIG. 2,
- FIG. 4 is a perspective view from below of a second end piece
- FIG. 5 is a sectional view along the line V-V of FIG. 4,
- FIG. 6 is a partial view of this same end-piece in section along the line VI-VI of FIG. 5,
- Figure 7 is a bottom view of a third nozzle
- FIGS 8 and 9 including two perspective views from below and in cross section of another tip.
- FIG. 1 represents a nozzle 2 for a vacuum cleaner, comprising a plate 3 of generally rectangular shape.
- This plate 3 has an upper face 4 in the middle of which is provided a suction port 5.
- a pipe 6 is connected to this suction port, the pipe 6 being, at its other end, connected to a suction group which can be either mobile and located near the pipe 6, or fixed in the case of a centralized suction installation.
- the underside 7 of the plate 3 comprises two series of brushes 8 arranged near the longitudinal edges thereof.
- Each series of brushes 8 delimits, on the outside, a suction channel 9, 10 respectively elongated, the two channels 9, 10 converging, in the central part of the plate towards the suction orifice 5.
- the surface between the suction channels 9 and 10 is used for removably fixing a wiping device consisting of a wipe 1 2.
- this wipe 1 2 can be wet, or humidified using a liquid conveyed to the wipe from a reservoir integrated in the nozzle, not shown in the drawing.
- the suction channel 9 sucks the dust on the floor, then the wipe cleans the micro-particles.
- the nozzle is moved in the opposite direction, it is the suction channel 10 which is located in front of the wipe and which carries out the suction of large dust before cleaning with the wipe 1 2.
- FIGS 4 to 6 show a second embodiment of this nozzle for a vacuum cleaner in which the same elements are designated by the same references as above.
- the wipe 1 2 is mounted on a support 1 3, sliding in the direction of movement of the nozzle. This sliding is achieved by rollers 14 secured to the support 1 3, engaged in rails 1 5 formed in the plate. Due to the slight snag produced by the support of the wipe 1 2 on the ground, when the nozzle is moved in the direction of the arrow in Figure 5, the support 1 3 of the wipe 1 2 tends to move towards the right, and to close the channel 10 which is behind in the direction of displacement of the end piece, leaving open the suction channel 9 and concentrating the suction at this channel 9 which is located forward in the direction of movement of the nozzle.
- Figure 7 shows a third embodiment of this nozzle, which has an ovoid shape, brushes 8 being formed over the entire periphery of the nozzle, the two suction channels 9 and 10 meeting at the two ends , these ends being provided with lateral inlets 16 for the aspirated air.
- This figure shows a method of fixing the wipe 1 2 using strips 1 7 of material with loops and hooks known under the brand VELCRO. The strips 1 7 are produced for example with gentle loops, while the wipe 1 2 has hooks, or is equipped with strips having hooks.
- Figures 8 and 9 show another embodiment of this tip, in which the same elements are designated by same references as before. In this case, the two suction channels 9 and 10 are connected to the other by two lateral channels 18, the suction orifice 5 opening into the channel 10.
- the invention brings a great improvement to the existing technique by providing a nozzle for a vacuum cleaner allowing, in a single operation to carry out the suction of dust and the cleaning of micro particles.
- the invention is not limited to the sole embodiments of this nozzle, described above by way of examples, on the contrary it embraces all of the variants.
- the wiping device could be constituted for example by a sponge
- the channels 9 and 10 could be alternately open and closed according to the direction of movement of the nozzle by means of a valve.
- the nozzle could include a liquid reservoir intended to soak the wiping device, without thereby departing from the scope of the invention.
