Abstract

The invention concerns a board designed for traction by a sailwing or a kite, enabling to optimise the manoeuvrability and capacity of sailing upwind. The shape of said novel board is characterised by a transverse symmetrical axis and by a dissymetry along the longitudinal axis. In particular on said board, the windward curvature of the board (1) differs from the leeward edge (2), the windward half fairing section (8) is different from the leeward one (5); similarly the windward edges or sailtracks (4) and the leeward ones (7) are different and each is specially designed for a particular function. The daggerboards or fins are arranged on either side of the board and likewise dissymetrically.

In both cases the boards have symmetrical edges and curvatures with respect to the longitudinal axis.

The rail located on the side of the back of the practitioner or "awning", is thin, hard cutting in order to disadvantage the ascent upwind. Its profile is symmetrical on both sides starting from the middle towards the extremities.
The rail located on the side of the practitioner's side or <under the ^ veπt "is higher, with a thickness between the center and refining" towards the ends. Its function being to promote the narrowness and the passage of the waves and the flap , its ends are re ^ re s ^ t-SOτrτjordτrrferietrr-can be tucked in or rounded. The outer lines are also different on both sides of the longitudinal axis as shown in Fig.1.
The “windward” side has tighter lines than the “leeward” side. The side "in the wind" in fact, essentially used to direct the board to the wind during upwind ascents, has very tight lines, with very little rounding in the center and more or less square ends.
The side "downwind" is on the contrary well rounded, with a marked central curvature and well tucked ends in order to facilitate the changes of direction and the handling in general. The two halves of the hull on each side of the longitudinal axis are also different; the “windward” side is more taut, its section is flat or concave with possibly nozzles towards the outside edge, allowing better channeling of the flows and favoring the heading. The "leeward" side is more raised, convex towards the ends with a flat central section, concave or with nozzles, depending on the degree of directional stability sought, Figure 2 illustrates this principle.
The daggerboards, necessary for an effective windward ascent, can be placed in different configurations, but always with a centerboard at each end of the board and one or more daggerboards placed on the "windward" side.
Les dessins annexés illustrent l'invention :The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention:
Figure 1 shows in front view the hull of the board. With reference to this drawing, there is a "windward" side (1) stretched, with the ends marked by an almost square outline. The “leeward” side (2) is characterized by a curvature markedly more accentuated in the center and by rounded ends.
The center line (3) defines the line for changing the curvature of the hull section and is not necessarily located in the middle of the board.
A 'and B-B' show the two very different half-hulls: a concave “windward” part (6) with a nozzle on the edge (8) and a flat or convex “leeward” part (5).
La figure 2 représente la planche en vue latérale, en référence à ce dessin, l'on peut distinguer la courbure du dessus de la planche (9) ou « pont » et la ligne médiane (3).Section B-B 'also shows the difference between the edge or “rail” “in the wind” (4) which is low and acute and the edge “in the wind” which is high, square or rounded on its central part (7). Figure 2 shows the board in side view, with reference to this drawing, we can distinguish the curvature of the top of the board (9) or "bridge" and the center line (3).
In relation to the curvature of the latter, we identify the curvature on the side "Under the wind" (2), more accentuated and that "in the wind" (1) clearly more tense.
La figure 3 montre la disposition de base des dérives ou ailerons ; une première paire est positionnée sur la ligne médiane, à chaque extrémité de la planche (10), l'autre paire , plus rapprochée du milieu de la planche, est située près du bord « au vent » de cette dernière (11).Figure 3 shows the basic layout of the fins or fins; a first pair is positioned on the center line, at each end of the board (10), the other pair, closer to the middle of the board, is located near the “windward” edge of the latter (11).
Figure 4 shows a side view of this arrangement where we distinguish the pair of middle fins (10) and the side pair (11).
