Abstract
The invention relates to a method of vehicle navigation using a road map shown on a display. According to said method, at the start of a journey the vehicle position is determined and its destination entered so that a road map is displayed whose scale is such that it shows both the position of the vehicle and its destination. As the vehicle approaches its destination in the course of the journey the scale of the map is automatically enlarged in such a way that the size of the display is at all times fully utilized and the destination and position of the vehicle at any given time can always be identified on the road map.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Fahrzeug-Navigation mittels einer auf einem Display angezeigten Straßenkarte des jeweiligen Fahrgebietes und einer Zoomeinrichtung zur Vergrößerung des Maßstabes der Straßenkarte.The invention relates to a method for vehicle navigation by means of a road map of the respective driving area shown on a display and a zoom device for increasing the scale of the road map.
Heutige Kraftfahrzeuge haben teilweise bereits eine Fahrzeug-Navigation, welche mit einem solchen Verfahren arbeitet. Dabei wird die jeweilige Fahrzeugposition automatisch durch ein Satelliten-Navigationssystem bestimmt, während bei Fahrtbeginn der Fahrer von Hand das Fahrziel eingibt. Nach der Eingabe des Fahrziels erscheint auf dem Display eine Straßenkarte, welche das gesamte Fahrgebiet zwischen dem Startpunkt und dem Fahrziel zeigt. Bei einer größeren Fahrstrecke muss der Maßstab dieser dargestellten Straßenkarte klein sein, damit die Straßenkarte das gesamte Fahrgebiet auf dem Display zeigen kann. Deshalb können in solchen Fällen keine Details gezeigt werden. Will man diese wissen, dann betätigt man eine Zoomeinrichtung, und erhält dadurch von dem Gebiet, in dem man sich gerade befindet, eine detaillierte Darstellung, die jedoch aufgrund des großen Maßstabes meist das Fahrziel nicht mehr zeigt, so dass man das Fahrziel im wörtlichen Sinne aus dem Auge verliert. Deshalb muss man nach der Betätigung der Zoomeinrichtung wieder zurück auf den ursprünglichen Kartenmaßstab schalten, damit man das Fahrziel wieder finden kann. Das vorübergehende Zoomen der Straßenkarte lenkt jedoch den Fahrzeugführer unerwünscht lang von der Beobachtung des Verkehrsgeschehens ab, so dass von dieser Möglichkeit eigentlich nur bei einem Fahrzeugstillstand Gebrauch gemacht werden sollte.
Der Erfindung liegt das Problem zugrunde, ein Verfahren zur Fahrzeugnavigation zu entwickeln, welches während der gesamten Fahrt eine Darstellung der Straßenkarte in einem möglichst großen Maßstab ermöglicht, ohne dass das Erfordernis eines manuellen Umschaltens des Kartenmaßstabes besteht.Today's motor vehicles already partially have vehicle navigation that works with such a method. Die Figur 1 zeigt die Darstellung bei Fahrtbeginn. Nahe der rechten unteren Ecke ist die anfängliche Fahrzeugposition mit "Start Babenhausen" und nahe des linken Randes in der Mitte das Fahrziel mit "Arrival Flughafen" gekennzeichnet. Die Figuren 2 bis 4 zeigen die sich automatisch mit der Annäherung an das Fahrziel ergebende Darstellung mit größer werdendem Maßstab. Die Darstellung gemäß Figur 4 lässt für den Fahrer die genaue Lage der Flughafengebäude und insbesondere des Parkhauses erkennen.

1. Verfahren zur Fahrzeug-Navigation mittels einer auf einem Display angezeigten Straßenkarte des jeweiligen Fahrgebietes und einer Zoomeinrichtung zur Vergrößerung des Maßstabes der Straßenkarte, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass bei Fahrtbeginn durch Bestimmung der Fahrzeugposition und Eingabe des Fahrziels zunächst eine Straßenkarte eines solchen Kartenmaßstabes angezeigt wird, dass sie die Fahrzeugposition und das Fahrziel zeigt, und dass nach Fahrtbeginn mit zunehmender Annäherung an das Fahrziel der Kartenmaßstab der Kartendarstellung automatisch derart vergrößert wird, dass unter Ausnutzung der vollen Größe des Displays stets das Fahrziel und die jeweilige Fahrzeugposition auf der Straßenkarte erkennbar sind.1.
