Definitions
- Physiotherapeutic device for the treatment of the skin by vacuum suction and ultrasound
- the present invention relates, as a new industrial product, to a physiotherapeutic device for the treatment of the skin in its thickness by vacuum suction and an ultrasound field.
- ultrasound has already been used in the past for diagnostic purposes (ultrasound) and therapeutic purposes (ultrasound therapy) for the treatment of symptomatic affections of organs or soft tissues (in particular muscles, tendons and ligaments).
- ultrasound is currently used to treat inflammation and / or improve blood circulation in the vessels, on the one hand, or to fragment urinary stones, on the other hand.
- a physiotherapeutic device is recommended for the treatment of the skin in its thickness (at the level of the epidermis, the dermis and the hypodermis, and essentially at the level of the epidermis and the dermis), said device being characterized in that it comprises:
- (B) at least one vacuum vacuum suction means used to dilate the layers (epidermis, dermis and, if appropriate, hypodermis) of a portion of skin (P) to be treated, said means of points (A) and (B) being arranged in such a way that, in operation, the portion of skin (P) to be treated is subjected to one or more cycles each comprising a vacuum suction phase and a phase of exposure to the ultrasound field , said vacuum suction phase and exposure phase to the ultrasonic field overlapping at least partially during the duration of each cycle.
- Figures 3a - 3c show unit cycles of use according to the invention, and Figure 3d illustrates a unit cycle not suitable.
- FIG. 4 shows in perspective a variant of the device according to the invention. Detailed description of the invention
- the means providing an ultrasonic field is an ultrasonic head in ultrasonic connection with the skin and supplied by an ultrasonic generator on the one hand
- the suction means by vacuum depression for expanding the layers located in the thickness of a portion of skin (P) to be treated is preferably a suction cup consisting of a bell having (i) an opening intended to come into contact, via its peripheral rim, with the external surface of the skin portion (P) to be treated, in operation the entire bell / rim / external surface delimiting a closed container, (ii) a window for connecting the closed chamber to a vacuum pump through a substantially non-deformable pipe.
- the means providing an ultrasonic field consists of the closed enclosure made of an ultrasound conducting material.
- the lower part of the closed enclosure comprises a flexible deformable part intended to come into contact with the external surface of the skin.
- this flexible deformable part can follow the reliefs of the skin and the device according to the invention can adapt to any type of surface of the body.
- this configuration of the lower part of the closed enclosure makes it possible to orient the device according to the invention if necessary to treat even the skin of difficultly accessible areas of the body.
- the edge of the lower end of the closed enclosure intended to come into contact with the external surface of the skin is wide so as not to injure the skin in the operating phase of the device when the closed enclosure then vigorously applies against the external surface of the skin and that the latter is in particular under vacuum.
- the device may further comprise at least one heating means capable of being coupled to the means providing the field of ultrasound.
- This heating means may be indeed useful to improve the expansion of the skin portion which is formed by the vacuum suction.
- the device according to the invention may further comprise at least one refrigerating means capable of being coupled to the means providing the ultrasonic field.
- This cooling medium is advantageous in the sense that it limits the pain induced by the dilation of the portion of skin during vacuum suction.
- the vacuum suction will be carried out so as to have in the closed enclosure a pressure less than ambient atmospheric pressure, preferably a pressure between 10 and 10 " Pa, and better still a pressure between 10 ' and 1 Pa.
- the ultrasonic field will have a frequency between 20 kHz and 100 MHz, preferably a frequency between 500 kHz and 50 MHz, and better still a frequency between 1 and 30 MHz.
- the device of the invention has practically no action, during its operation on the elimination of internal fats, in particular the fats of the hypodermis. It has surprisingly been discovered that exposure to the ultrasonic field protects the portion of skin treated from the undesirable effects of vacuum suction. In particular, in order to benefit as much as possible from the protective effect of the ultrasonic field, it is recommended that said phase of exposure to the ultrasonic field always begins before the vacuum suction phase within each unit cycle.
- the vacuum suction phase will be performed during the exposure phase to the ultrasound field, and more preferably the duration of the phase of vacuum suction will be less than the exposure phase ultrasound field.
- the treatment of the skin, to compensate for the insufficiencies of the connective tissue, by means of the device of the invention comprises a plurality of unit cycles, in general at least 10 unit cycles.
- the shortcomings of the connective tissue which is treated, according to the invention include:
- the device 1 comprises a means 10 providing an ultrasonic field (FIG. 1).
- This means consists of an ultrasonic head 10, supplied by an ultrasonic generator 11, placed facing the skin and housed in a sealed manner in the vacuum suction means 20 via the opening 24 where it is set ( Figure 2).
- an ultrasound conducting gel 40 represented in FIG. 1 is applied to the external surface 3 1 of the skin 30 to be treated at least at the level where the ultrasound head 10 will be positioned.
- This gel is intended to serve as an ultrasonic connection between the ultrasonic head 10 and the skin 30 for conducting the ultrasound, playing the role of an interface.
- Said vacuum suction means 20 is advantageously a suction cup constituted by a bell whose large opening 21 is intended to be closed by the external surface 3 1 of the portion (P) of the skin 30, along the peripheral rim 22 of the bell.
- Said bell further comprises an opening 23 to allow the closed enclosure 2 to be connected, which it forms during operation, with a vacuum pump not shown.
- the connection of the opening 23 to said pump is advantageously a sufficiently rigid conduit so as not to be deformed under the effect of the vacuum; in practice said conduit may be housed at least partially in the handle 25 of the ultrasonic generator 1 1.
- the ultrasonic generator 1 1 is supplied with electric current by conductors arranged in a sheath 12 housed at least partially in said handle 25 .
- the bell has a wall which is transparent over at least a portion of its surface. More advantageously the bell will be completely transparent. It will be designed in glass or better in transparent plastic, in particular in polycarbonate.
- the edge of the lower end of the closed enclosure 2 intended to come into contact with the external surface 31 of the skin 30 is preferably sufficiently wide so that the force exerted by said edge of the closed enclosure 2 on said surface external surface 3 1 is distributed over a relatively large surface so as not to cut or mark said external surface 31.
- the lower part of the closed enclosure 2 advantageously comprises a flexible deformable part 35 which adapts to the reliefs of the external surface 31 of the skin 30. This flexible deformable part 35 can be formed by a succession of circular rubber bellows. Note in FIG.
- the assembly constituted by the handle 25, the generator 11 and the closed enclosure 2 can be slightly inclined relative to the direction normal to the skin thanks to the flexibility of the part 35. It is possible to thus maintaining this inclination during the operation of the device according to the invention so as not to disturb the patient by contact with said assembly. Also during the fitting of the device according to the invention against the patient's skin, the angle of approach can even be made according to the normal to the skin or from another angle. Even in an angle of approach different from normal to the skin, said part 35 will adapt to the external surface 31 of the skin 30 by acting on the spacing of the bellows and the flexibility of said part 35.
- the controls relating to the formation of the ultrasonic field and the vacuum aspiration can be advantageously located near the ultrasonic generator, as represented by the reference numeral 12 in FIG. 1.
- the ultrasonic generator as represented by the reference numeral 12 in FIG. 1.
- T Ao represents the start of the phase of exposure to the ultrasonic field
- - time T Ro represents the start of expansion to return to atmospheric pressure
- - time T Rt represents the end of the expansion phase and corresponds to the start of the new cycle starting with the exposure phase (time T Ao ') to the ultrasound field.
- the unit cycles which are suitable according to the invention are those of FIGS. 3a, 3b and 3c, where the vacuum suction phase and the phase of exposure to the ultrasound field are at least partially superimposed (see figure 3a). It is important that the exposure phase to the ultrasound field precedes the vacuum suction phase.
- the vacuum suction phase 1 will have a duration identical to that of the phase of exposure to the ultrasound field and 2 will start at the same time as this (see FIG. 3 c), and better said phase. vacuum suction will be included in the duration of said phase of exposure to the ultrasonic field (see Figure 3b).
- the transmission of ultrasound to the skin 30 can be done by direct ultrasonic connection between the ultrasonic head 10 directly in contact with the external surface 31 of said skin 30, without using a conductive gel 40, said ultrasonic head 10 arriving at approximately the same level as the edge of the closed enclosure 2.
- the ultrasonic connection for the transmission of ultrasound between the ultrasonic generator 1 1 and the external surface 3 1 of the skin 30 can be done by means of the bell 2 constituted in this case at least on a part of the bell 2 extending between said ultrasonic generator 1 1 and the lower edge of said bell 2 of an ultrasonic conducting material of the rigid plastic type for example.
- the ultrasonic head 10 is therefore constituted by said part of the bell 2 in contact with the skin, this part possibly being the entire bell 2 if the latter is made of a material conducting the ultrasound such as in figure 4.
- the ultrasonic head 10 can be mounted outside and on the periphery of the bell 2.
- the device according to the invention can be used both in a fixed position pressed against a part of the external surface of the portion (P) of the skin to be treated but also in translational movement on the skin to treat another portion of skin and / or to obtain a massage in parallel with the patient by a rolling / palpating effect skin.
