Description

DGCUMENT NUMBER D Qfl UNITED STATES AUGUST H. WIRZ, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR CASTERS.
Speciiication forming part of Design No. 10,008, dated May 22,1877; application filed May 4, 1877.
[Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUST H. WIRZ, of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Designs in Casters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to Which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of' this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in designs for bases for casters; and it consists in ornamental shape and configuration that will be more fully described hereinafter.
The accompanying drawing represents my invention.
a represents the stem or shank of the caster, which may be of any shape desired, but which is here preferably shown as being round. Depending from the lower edge of this shank or stem are a number of figured bands, b, all of whichhave their lower ends united together by means of the ring c. In between these bands, extending from their tops to their bottoms. are the spaces d, which give the bases a light and ornamental appearance.
Heretofore these bands have been made of' one continuous piece of metal without any openings through them, and consequently have always had more or less of a heavy rather than an ornamental appearance.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- As a design for caster-stand, the combination of the bands b and ring c, the bands having suitable spaces between them, as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 27th day of April, 1877.
AUG UST H. WIRZ.
Witnesses DILLIE E. HoUcK, P; J. HILDBERGE.
