I v IMPROVED RETICULE WICKER BASKET.

The Schedule referred to in. these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH VENET, of the city, eounty, and State ofNew York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in .lteticnle Wicker-Baskets, of which t'lieiollowing is a specification. 1

The. natureof my invention consistsin the employ- Inentand use of a metallicwire, in such manner as to form three orniore ribs oi';the wicker-work, said metallic ribs passing around the body and cover of the basket, and forming inetallie holders for'the handles of the-basket, and hinge-s, by which the cover is. united to the body of the l'msket, and also ibriningthe loop and staple-connection for reception of the lock, which renders the basket safe "and durable, besides enhancing its connnereial value,'as I will further explain by reference to the drawings, of which- Figure 1 represents a wicker-basket with my invenbody of the basket.

These ribs are carried under the bottom and up the sides of the body of the basket to the mouth, and similar ribsy y g, are carried-through the cover of the basket.

The outer ribs G G form holders I: 71, for reception of the handles 0 O, in front, and holders 2 i for the reception of said handles'in rear ofthe basket, and being continued above the month, said ribs, with similar ribs g g, running through the cover B, form the hinges J J, by which the cover is united to the body of'the basket. (See fig. 2.)

The middle rib G, which, like the otl1er ribs,'passes round the body of the basket, is united to the ribs G G in front and rear of the basket, near the mouth, and forms a staple, 7., in front, for reception of a hasp, I, formed on the rib g, which runs throughvthe cover of the basket, and also for reception of the lock m.
