To all whom fit may concern:

Be it known that I, ORLANDO J. Boos, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Paper Holders, of which the following is a specilication, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention is an improved sticky fly paper holder.

The obj ect of the invention is to provide a device of this character which will be of simple construction so that it may be made at a very small cost, which will support the fly paper so that it will be effectively retained in a flat position and will cover the entire holder, and which is so constructed that several of them may be nested when not needed.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists of the novel features of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved holder showing a piece of sticky fly paper thereon; Fig. 2 is a side elevation or edge view of the holder; and Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view on a reduced scale.

The invention comprises a plate 1 of the same dimensions as the sheet of sticky liy paper which is indicated at l? and which is adapted to be held upon the top of said plate by spring clamps 2. The plate 1 may be made of wood, card-board, metal or other material and at its ends are formed or provided downturned transversely extending ribs 3 which serve as supporting feet. Said ribs 3 may be formed by bending down the ends of the plate 1 or by attaching transverse strips or cleats to the bottom face of said plate at its ends. The paper clamps 2 are formed from two pieces of resilient wire, the central portions of which are bent into angular or U-form, as shown at 4, and secured by staples 5 or other fastenings to the center of the bottom face of the plate 1, as shown more clearly in Fig. 3. The projecting ends of the pieces of wire are bent in 0pposite directions to provide spring clamping arms 6, which latter extend outwardly along the side edges of the plate 1 and have their extremities bent inwardly at right angles to provide clamp jaws 7 These jaws are adapted to rest upon the top of the paper P just beyond the sticky substance and at a distance from the end edges of the paper corresponding to the thickness of the supporting ribs or cleats 3 in order that several holders may be superposed or nested with the ribs or cleats 3 of each holder engaged with the clamp jaws 7 of the holder below. It will be seen that when the holders are thus nested they will be held against longitudin'al displacement and the different sheets of fly paper will be held out of contact with the superposed holders.

The use and advantages of the invention will be readily seen. It may be noted, however, that by constructing the holder as set forth it may be produced at a very small cost and will be exceedingly simple, strong and durable, that a sheet of fly paper may be readily applied to or removed from it and that when applied it covers the entire top surface of the holder so that the flies must alight on the paper and that the peculiar construction allows several of the holders to be nested and put out of the way when they are not needed.

Having thus described the invention what is claimed is:

The herein described ily paper holder comprising a rigid rectangular plate to support a sheet of fly paper, transverse rectangular cleats secured on the bottom of said plate along its ends and depending from said plate, a paper clamp arranged along each of the side edges of said plate and formed from a single piece of resilient wire having its central portion bent to form a V-shaped attaching loop arranged centrally on the bottom of the plate and extending inwardly from one side edge thereof, the two portions of the wire extending in opposite dierctions from the V-shaped loop and diagonally across the side edge of the plate to form resilient arms, and the extremities of said piece of wire being bent inwardly from the outer ends of said arms at right angles to the latter to form clam ing jaws which rest on top of the sheet of) iiy paper and hold the latter on top of the plate, said jaws being straight and extending inwardly, and also being disposed inwardly from the ends of said plate a distance according to the Width of said rectwo springpaperclampsV at the side-edges' tangulalcleatS,fWhe1eloy a plurality ofy holdd ers may be nested with the cleats of one eni gaging the jaws of another to prevent the holders from shifting longitudinally upon each other, and staples driven over said V- l shaped attaching loops and into the bottom of the plate for permanently securing4 the of the plate. i
