IMPROVED STAG-ING- FR RQOIES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the'same.
To all -ufhom 'it may concern:
Be' it known that I, WASHmeroN B. Ross, of Keene, county of Cheshire, and State of New Hamp- `shire, have invented a new and improved Staging for Use upon Roofs; and do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, rei'- A@renee being had to the accompanying drawings, in

'lhe object of my invention is to produeea cheap and durable Staging for use upon roofs, that can be easily removed, and adjust-ed to any desired position, even while workmen are upon it; and
The nature of my invention consists in a jointed staging, attached to braces or arms, which are raised and lowered upon the rooi'by means of ropes or chains running over pulleys held by hooks at the ridge-boards of thel root'.

These pulleys are heldnear the roof, by hooks H H, which hook over the ridge-boards.
The rope, cord, or chain E E, attached to braces c' c', runs over pulleys F F, and, by means of ropes E E `and the'pulleys, the staging B is easily raised or lowered to any desired position.

The advantages of my improved staging are, that much time is saved in adjusting it to any position, it being done in a moment by the men upon it; also, in clearing a roof after work is finished; in building stagings; and in room, for my staging can betaken apart by means of joint D, and the whole made to occppy a very'small space, while it is ever ready' for use.
