IIVIPROVED TRACE-BUCKLE.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom tit may concern:

Be it known .thatL A LvAH WoRs'rnn, of Hanni bal, in the county of Oswego, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement inTrace- Buckles, and I doheiebydeclare that the following iS- a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will ing loop, or link, which, with the buckle-name, is secured permanently to the hames-tug, and in using, in connection therewith, a tongue, mounted on a plate, or bar, made to slide in said loop, in such manner that the buckle is opened or closed, by the movement of said bar. within the loop, and by the swinging movement of the loop, as hereinafter more fully explained.

In the accompanying drawings- A is the llames-tug;

C is the buckle-frame;

E is the loop, or swinging link; and

F is the tongue-plate, or bar.

The buckle-flame G is cast with a plate, c, by which it is secured to the hames-tug, by rivets or other snitable means; and said plate is provided with a notch, g, gs. 2 and 3, which holds the loop E, in such manner that the wear caused by the loop comes upon the plate c, instead of the llames-tug.

' 'The plate, or bar F is cast with a'tongue, f, 'g. 3',

which engages with holes in the tug, and has shoulders vh h', for retaining it in the loop.

When a strain is brought upon the tug', the bar F v is drawn back until its shoulder h bears upon the loop, and the bar is then pressed toward the plate c, so that the tug is clamped securely between them, and the tongue f thereby relieved of much strain, and the tug held without liability of being torn by the tongue, the clamping-pressure being obtained by the swinging movement of the link F. i

By these means, I `obtain a very efficient and desirable buckle.
