UNITED sTATEs PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE PLUMMER FAY, OF ATHENS, PENNSYLVANIA.
ARTICLE-HOLDER.
To all whom it 'may concern:
Beit known that I, GEORGE P. FAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Athens, in the county of Bradford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Article Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to that class of article-holders known as wall-pockets, and has for its object to provide a device of this kind which is simple in construction, and which will effectually serve the purpose for which it is designed.
A further object is to provide a wall-pocket which may be folded into small compass for convenience in packing and shipping. the same.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a front elevation of the invention. Fig. 2 is an edge View. Fig. 3 is a similar view showing the device folded. Fig. 4 is a front elevation of a modification.
As shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the wall-pocket is in two sections which may be separated, and folded or placed together as shown in Fig. 3. These two sections are indicated at 5 and 6, respectively, the former being the top and the latter the bottom section.
The top section comprises a back-board or plate 7 to the face of which are secured boxes 8 having hinged lids 9. These boxes are spaced apart vertically sufficiently to enable the box-lids to be swung open. The boxes are secured in place on the back-board by screws or other suitable fastening means 10 passing through the rear wall of the box and into the back-board.
The bottom section 6 comprises a backboard 11 to which are secured boxes 12 in the same manner as the boxes 8. Catches 13 are provided for holding the lids of the boxes 8 and 12 closed. I
In the bottom edge of the top section arc screw-hooks 14, and in the top edge of the bottom section are screw-eyes 15 which are engageable by the aforesaid screw hooks whereby the two sections are connected as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. In the upper edge of the top section are screw-eyes 16 whereby the device is hung on a nail secured to vthe Wall or other support. The bottom box of Specification of Letters Patent.

the top section projects below the lower' edge of the back-board 7 sufficiently to cover the joint between the two sections thereby hiding the same so that the back-board will appear' as being in one piece and its appearance will not be marred.
Upon disengaging the hooks 14 from the eyes 15, the two sections 5 and 6 can be placed together face-to-face as shown in Fig. 3. The space between the boxes is unobstructed, and the relative position of thc boxes is such that the boxes of one section will fit or enterbetween the boxes of the other section. This arrangement greatly reduces the compass of the device when it is in folded position, and makes it easy to carry and pack, as well as less liable to damage.
The device herein described is simple in construction and therefore can be cheaply produced. It affords convenient means for holding a large number of articles, and it effectually serves the purpose for which it is designed. Ornamentation as fancy dictates may be resorted to.
The modified form of wall-pocket illustrated in Fig. 4 is without the folding feature, it consisting in a single back-board 17 to which boxes 1S are secured in the same manner as hereinbefore described. The backboard also has screw-eyes 19 in its upper edge for hanging it.
I claim:
1. An article-holder comprising a backboard consisting of separable sections, spaced boxes secured to the face of each section, the relative position of the boxes being such that those of one section will enter between those of the other section when said sections are placed face-to-face.
2. An article-holder comprising a backboard consisting of separable sections, and a plurality of boxes secured to the face of each section, one of said boxes overlapping the joint between the back-board sections.
In testimony whereof I affLx my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE PLUMMER FAY.

SETH J. MORLEY, CHARLES A. FAY.
