, IMPROVEMENT'IN PUMPS.

. Be it known that I, D. O. DWE'N, of.Adams county, lin the State of Illinois, have invented certain Improve-1 ments in Bumps, of which the following isafull, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specifica l r. ti on, in whichl Y Figurel is a sectional view.` v Figure 2 is a top sectional View on the line x-. Figure 3 is a force-pump attachment.

My invention has for its object to provide a pump,

` which will supply a large amount of water with very little labor. 1.

To enable othersskilled in the art to understand and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the manner in which I have carried it out. `In the said drawings- A'A are cylinders; DD are connecting-pipes i l E E are connecting-chambers; C F are stock-sockets; all constructed of iron, or any other suitablemeta-Land cast in one pjece, thus r 1 preventing liability to leakage.

. The pistons G and Gf are worked in the cylinders A A, by means ofthe rods a a and lever K.

lOurthe piston being raised, the water is raised in the direction indicated by the arrows `through C and D, and is admitted, by means ofthe valve d, into the cylinder A. 1

When the piston descends, the 'valve D closes, an the Water is forced into the chambers E, and thence, through valvee, intol the stock B, and is. discharged at H.

The pistons G and G', acting alternately, keep up being formed between the thepipe C.

The' metallic portion of the -pump may be in dili'erent pieces, fastened together, though to have it cast in one piece is preferable.

What I claim as myinvention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is f `The stock-sockets G F, connecting-pipes D D, cylindex-s A A, pistons G G', combined with the valves d d, e e, and'chambers E E, all arranged and operated4 `substantially as and for the purpose described.
